Is this definitely legit? I saw no reference on Verizon's website and there is no direct way to get to the download on Samsungs website.

This has been great! I LOVE how I can now disable the Windows Media Player button next to the period. If you search this forum, you'll notice that waaaaay early in the life of the Saga this is one thing I said I wished I could do.

Everything seems to be working fine, there's even a new version of S2U2 (2.01) that works really great and has a bunch of new features.

One thing I have noticed is that the program I used for a task manager (pBar) now doesn't seem to be working right. When you click on the area that brings down your task manager the task manager blinks and blinks and seems to have issues. This is the same version I was using yesterday before the ROM update.. anyone else see this issue?

Anyone have any suggestions on a good task manager?

At the bottom right of this page:

Phones & Devices - Verizon Wireless Support

"Software Update (MR)" goes to Samsung's website for the upgrade.

That's pretty official in my book.

This lovely new GPS access we have now, are we using cell towers for location information or actual GPS satellites? This device seems rather small to have it's own GPS satellite receiver built in (and I'm noticing quite a different between when I use my Garmin GPS receiver and the phone vs. when I use the new built-in GPS).

I know lots of people wont look at a product if it isn't free, but I don't mind paying for the 'better' software out there if need be. My searching for a replacement to the now defunct (for some strange reason) pBar brought me to "HandySwitcher" -- HandySwitcher - DinarSoft .. It's $10, but after a few minutes playing with the demo, it seems to be solid. Much faster and cleaner than pBar and others I have used.

Check it!

Nope, not fixed with update.

I know that we had found a Reg hack to fix the MMS -- I've scoured the forums, but I couldn't remember if we found something for the SMS... anyone remember if we fixed it?

pBar is defunct? What exactly is it doing? I am busy reinstalling my apps now, haven't quite gotten there yet.

It's normal sat GPS. All verizon devices (at least in the last year or so) from the cheap phones, to the high end smartphones have regular sat GPS chips in them.. They do that so they can sell VZ Nav to everybody.

It's not as quick as my Freedom 2000 GPS keychain device, but the little I used it yesterday it was placing me in the right spots.

For me, once I installed it when I'd go to pull down the task list it'd blink like 10 times then become solid. This happened even after a soft reset and it happens every time you try to pull down the task list.

pBar was the LAST thing I had on my list to reinstall on my phone, and I have nothing different than before the update software wise -- only:

RealVGA, SyncML (for Oracle Calendar sync), Resco Explorer 08, SPb Phone Suite and S2U2.

The only piece of software which is a different version than before the update is S2U2 (1.6 ->2.01) -- and even when I disabled and uninstalled S2U2 I had the same results with pBar.

Cannot get Good to install fresh or from a backup after this update. Gets stuck at "downloading services"...

Edit: Found this to address the Good problem https://www.good.com/begood/message/3774#3774
Haven't got it to work yet.

2nd Edit: Easy to bypass the backup install serial number issue - edit \GoodLink Backup\serialnum.dat to match the extra digit.

Yeah I am seeing the same thing with pbar. But more importantly... is it me or is there A LOT less available program memory now? It seems like I've only got ~3o MB or less free right after a boot-up? And when I look the max program memory is now ~75, it used to be in the upper 80's if I remember correctly. So you mean we actually LOST ~10 MB of RAM for this 'upgrade'?

I noticed that memory issue too. I had to move all my 3rd party apps over to the storage card just to get 30 MB of program memory back after the upgrade. Not exactly worth the upgrade at that point.

Anybody who hasn't upgraded yet, let us know what your program and storage memory shows. And then if you do upgrade, let us know if you see a memory different afterward.
