I tried to do a search but didn't seem to find anything specific. It seems whenever my phone gets a text message, it goes into this wild Vibrating Frenzy. Instead of a simple vibrate to say hey you've got a text it vibrates until I hit the End Button. Now, if the keys are locked, the entire time I'm turning the phone on, unlocking the keys, and trying to press end, its vibrating away.
Its done it at least a few times on incoming email as well but most of the time it does it its on incoming texts. I've got things set up in Notifications for new Email message and new text message to play a sound and then vibrate.
Now, for email, my sound bit is the AOL "You've got mail." Well, when it decides to vibrate like crazy on incoming mail, I know it in advance because I hear... "You've got ma..." and then a second later, vibration frenzy.
Any thoughts?

Wow. And to think how much some people pay for "vibrators" and here you are complaining about a "feature" that's included with your phone for free!
If I get one of these, I think I'll carry it on my back so when I sit down in my LazyBoy and the thing goes off like that I can just sink back and go Ahhhhhh...

Alas, I'm not some people. But just wondered how long it would take for a comment like that to be posted.
I know I'm not the only one having this problem, so I hoped someone knew what was causing it.

I use the "Alarm1" sound and it beeps and the phone vibrates for less than a second when I get a text. I use the same sound, but with Vibrate off for an e-mail.
I'm pretty sure my boss hasn't installed any programs on hers. She's having the same issue. I have, but nothing much. Google Maps, and Pocket E-Sword which I removed because of issues.
Just out of curiosity, what program had you installed that caused that?
Thanks!

Xer0n...out of your list, I do have PocketPutty installed. And I do use Opera all the time and leave it backgrounded, but it came preinstalled, I would hope it's not Opera.
Wondering if its PocketPutty? My Boss has this installed as well.
I might try removing it and see what happens.

FWIW- I think I'm seeing a trend that this occurs when multiple Alerts are coming in at the same time (ie. a small SMS flood).
I recall having this issue on one my Treos way back and I believe a firmware fixed it. I could be wrong though...
I think this is starting to point to being the cause of a bunch of things.
the crazy vibrating, the thing where the phone doesn't answer calls right away, I also sometimes see a call notification on the screen for what seems like an eternity before the ringer goes off.
seems it chokes when it has multiple notifications.
I think the version of good I had (which was unsupported on the saga) compounded it becasue it was getting push email. but seems incoming texts trigger some of this. ANd also I'm not sure that there isn't an issue where notifications aren't closing the data connection cleanly and quickly.
Hopefully it's tweaked in the firware update due first half of this year (I'm hoping sooner).
I'm a sales representative for Verizon, and love the Saga...it's the smart phone I try to push out the door the most. It's awesome.
I just had my first customer ever come back to me with this problem. Someone above mentioned changing the standard ring from Alarm 3 to Alarm 1, and it would stop the constant vibration. Tried it and it worked. I have no clue as to what's causing this problem...but that worked for some reason. I was shocked...lol. My boss carries the phone, and has never experienced that issue, and none of my other customers have mentioned it. Anyway, that seems to be the solution.
Funny... I had this issue with my Samsung i760 before I got my hands on a Samsung Saga. I originally thought it was a programming issue with WM6 on the i760 but now that I have the Saga, the same thing is happening.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with SPB mobile shell, it's the only thing that both phones had in common.
That frenetic vibrating drives me nuts, and I wish I could figure out exactly why that is happening. I will try to change the standard alarms/rings and see what that does.
I don't think it's related to SPB. I don't have that installed and on occasion my phone will go into a vibrating frenzy as well. Has happened about 4 times total since I got the phone and not at all in the past three weeks or so.
I am on my third Saga from Verizon and each one has had this problem. Verizon said they have no tech bulletins on the issue and I just spoke with Samsung support and they don't know of the issue. My phone is new and has no extra aps installed. I've only used ActiveSync with it and created its connection with my Exchange mail server. The phone vibrated so much the other evening that, after putting it on the table before I went to bed, I found it on the floor in the morning. Very annoying. I will try changing the alarm settings to see if that resolves the issue.
At least you guys are able to make it stop with the end key - I'd say once every couple of days mine has seizures, and the only way I've gotten it to stop is a soft reset - I'll try the end key next time and see what happens.
Mine has done this a few times, too. It does seem like it has happened when I've had multiple alerts although I also have a lot installed (including SPB Mobile Shell) so it could be just about anything. I have had to do a soft reset to get it to stop.
It's mildly annoying, a little funny, but as a former Treo owner, the number of soft resets I've had to do is still minimal compared to daily (or multiple times a day) with the Treo.
I have nothing extra installed on mine and it still does it occasionally. I think it has to do with multiple notifications at the same time. I've had to reboot every time to get it to stop.
I only have TinyTwitter and Live Search installed and mine will go through vibrating frenzies from time to time. The only way to get it to stop is to reboot it.
