I found this, but have not changed anything yet and don't really think it is it...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Samsung\Keypad]
"KeyInputMode"=dword:00000003

[Update]
No, that aint it....

I looked there and also added new DWORD
AddressInputMode with a value of 0 to a number of places with no luck.
Still trying

What is wrong with it that required fixing?

In the to: field of MMS it would turn on the FN lock so you start typing a name from your address book to address the MMS to but it instead throws the stupid symbols/numbers in there. Very annoying.

The same behavior exists in the SMS to: field.

Any progress on this for SMS? What a huge bug! Really just an obnoxious oversight.

Perhaps it just too early in the morning, but I must be missing something. I'm still getting the FN lock after the registry change and a soft reset. The new value of "0" is sticking after the reset, but the behavior remains unchanged.

sometimes the Fn key seems to "stick"- not just in mms, but also sms, on webpages with text entry, contacts, and various other places for me. I haven't figured out the pattern just yet. my guess is if you enter data someplace with the fn lock on that it never shuts off if you enter other apps.

Oops, I was messing with this again and changed the wrong value. Can anybody tell me what the default value is for:

HKLM/Software/Samsung/MMS/Settings/TextInputMode ???

(yes, I do have a backup, but I don't see any ill effect and it would be easier just to put the default value back...yes...I'm LAZY!)

Thanks. That's what I thought it was, but the confirmation helps.
