I use AE Button Plus. Launching the InClose application triggers the task menu to appear.
However, I had to stop using it, because InClose seems to be preventing my phone from coming out of sleep mode. It started after I installed it, and stopped as soon as I disabled it. Anyone else have this problem?

Now I'm just using the in-built Task Manager. Combined with Batti and the reg hack to put the clock in the title bar, it does everything I would need Spb Pocket Plus or SBSH iLauncher to do.

Hmm...that is strange it worked on my i730. There is a control panel applet that changes the function of the X button, from Hold to Close, or close when clicked. There is also an HTC Task Manager, I wonder if that works on your phones.

My bad - I thought you were talking about the HTC Task Manager. That is the one I couldn't get to work. I'll try the close button app.

Thanks for all the reply except for FuzzyWuzHe's replys.
Fuzzy if you would have read my post, I did say that I searched, and nothing came up, maybe I didn't know what to search for and that is why nothing came up. Please think before you post.
To everyone else I tried InClose and everytime I tap the X in the wireless manager, it launches my wifi connection. Also after a time period (not sure how long) it would turn the phone portion of the phone off. Once I uninstall it, then it doesn't launch the wifi, and my phone stays on, so I know that InClose is the problem. I use to have SPB for my i730, so I will re-install that and see how that goes.
Thanks again for all the program suggestions.

The best and most simple program I have found for this function is vBar. It does everything that you need and is free at Vieka - Superior Technology For You I used it on the i730 for 2plus years and loaded it on the i760 where it is working like a charm.

pBar seems to work the best with windows mobile 6. Just don't kill the wireless manager because bluetooth and wifi will randomly turn on.

Out of the box, vBar doesn't integrate with the look and feel of WM6, though. Is there a setting you've found to fix that?

I had bad results with pBar, but maybe I need to give it another try.
BTW, I did a comparison of PP/iLauncher/freeware here:

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I installed it on the i760 and it works as advertised. My settings are as follows:
1. Image>use system background & start in Start up
2. Menu & Standard image
3. Order = Menu Button then OK/Close
During operation I see an inverted triangle on the top of my screen next to an X. I can press the in any program and it closes it or I can press the triangle and show a list of programs that I can close.

This same functionality is icorporated into Battery Pack Pro. Give it a look if you can use all the other functionality it brings with it.

I had no problems with vBAR as well. Works great so far. It was the first program I downloaded to my i760.

Right - it the inverted triangle and X do not look like the underlying theme. It looks overlaid.

I am still looking for the "perfect" task manager. I put together a listing of the ones that I have found and tried, but nothing is 100%. I don't mind paying a reasonable price for this, but I am only looking for a task manager.

Any others I should try? Thanks!

Just a thought - the description you're giving for Pocket Plus isn't quite fair. I'll agree that if you don't want tabs, the IE extensions, smart scrolling, button mapping, and everything else that comes with the Task Manager it's more than what you're looking for.
But the term "Bloatware" isn't quite fair because it's intended to provide far more than what you're looking for and makes the app sound like it's not what it advertises to be. That term makes me think that the app adds features that I neither want nor need regardless of my desires.
If you haven't tried playing with all of the stuff that Pocket Plus provides, you might give it another shot. It's far too expensive to buy just for the task management features. But I wouldn't even think of buying a WM device without spending money to add it - it really does bring a wealth of features to the device that I wish had been there from the get-go.

agree 100%. pocket plus is the single best app i have installed on any PPC. it includes features the should already be built in to the OS.

I have played with it extensively, and I don't use 90% of it. You guys obviously use all of the features, or enough to make it worthwhile. I haven't done a memory usage analysis of it to see if the unused portions slow down the other pieces, but I'm sticking with my assessment. If you are one of the people who needs more than 50% of the features, it's a good deal.
I'm not saying it doesn't do what it does well - just that it lacks focus.
Anyhow, back to my question - anyone have any alternatives?

I have rethought my assessment and reworded it to better capture the drawback of PP.
