I've not used IMAP on any pda phone. Any user care to chime in and share there thoughts on using this? I'm considering taking all my email to gmail and elimnating some of my other accounts.

I've used IMAP to connect to our exchange server (exchange 2000, no push).
It works pretty well. You have to set it to connect at a specified interval, but as long as you're okay with a slight battery drain and not getting new mail instantly, it's pretty nice.
I've been waiting for this feature from Gmail since it came out. I'm really excited to get it. It will be nice to not have to load Java every time I want to check my gmail from my i760.

If you need to check the same account from multiple devices, there really is no better solution. I have Exchange for work, and IMAP for home. I check IMAP on my home and work desktops, and on my phone, and I never have to worry about deleting messages twice.
I don't have it enabled on my account yet but here is the Google Answer for setting it up.
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - requires SSL:
imap.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 993
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS:
smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587
Account Name: your Gmail username (including @gmail.com)
Email Address: your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com)
Anyone who has it up and running care to chime in on setting up the ports in WM6? I have looked through the settings under IMAP account and I can't find a place to provide ports.
EDIT: Apparently you can specify ports by adding :portnum after the address for example
I'm using a Samsung i760, and have enabled IMAP in gmail. I set up the phone to pull the account's mail (BTW, it works with or without the ports added onto the end the servers) and it gets all the mail, but several of the messages are blank. They are mostly messages I have recieved from friends and clients, but a piece of spam from travelocity shows up.
Now, I set the max limit on message size to max, and the phone is saving my mail on a 2Gb sdcard, which is mostly empty. Is anyone else having this issue, or does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?
Gmail says they are rolling it out softly, but as well recieved as it is, I think you'll be in business by the end of the week. All of my google apps accounts have it active. Perhaps an upgrade is what your looking for...

The save to SD card option is only for attachments, not messages. There is a hack for WM Smartphones to save messages to the SD card as well, but I don't know if it will work in the WM PPC edition: WM5 - Move email and internet storage to SD card « onlydarksets
Has anyone been able to send messages out via gmail imap from their phone. I have a message in my outbox that won't go out. Every time I hit send/recieve I get my current messages downloaded but I get a message saying "the message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again" If anyone has this working please let me know how you set up your outgoing settings.
