Unhappy Lost Button remap after hard reset

Before I hard resetted I was able to remap the messaging left soft key to Notes. Now no matter what I choose in setup screen, I end up with messaging as before. This is a drag because I wanted to have an easy way to do voice recording. Any suggestions. This is first time I ended up worse off following guide suggestion.

Try another hard reset.
Look thry your registry for the key.
If that does not work, call VZW support

Good luck

Assuming you mean the left soft key above the d-pad, the setting's under the "Today" applet in the Control Panel, third tab.

I was considering doing a hard reset too, based on mrrailing's suggestion in the FAQ. But after reading this, I might just hold off and see if more people complain of any issues after hard reset.

I have lost no buttons assignments at all, and I have hard reset now about 10 times...

I bit the bullet, did the hard reset, and was able to map the left soft key again. As LeDiva suggested, make sure you are remapping the left soft key, which is currently set to Messaging, to whatever you want. It is easy to confuse this with Button 3, which is also set to Messaging.

Give me a dunce hat. I did confuse button 3 with the soft key. Now soft key reads "Notes". Thanks for speedy help. This is the best forum to learn this phone. Relieved to find no issues anew after the hard reset. Look forward to MRailing official setup guide for 760; the one for 730 was a lifesaver.

I'm confused too. I had button 3 mapped for calendar and it didn't do anything. After reading this I tried the "Today" applet in the control panel and that did it. OK...someone please tell me where button 3 is.

Button 3 is the Envelope on the slide out keyboard on the top left...
