i tried the cab from my previous 730 and it didnt fix the problem with the extension loading on the 760.
just sucks!!! this was one of the few processes on the 760 that i naturally assumed would work out of the box.
disappointed, but still the only real problem i have with this phone.

"Thanks Eric. I have heard that Samsung’s WM6 update for the BlackJack fixes the compatibility problem that the WM5 version has. I’m hoping that this is an indicator that Samsung has decided to use the full set of APIs defined by Microsoft for the BT audio gateway, so that extensions such as ours will work with their phones. However, it will require a ROM update to allow the i760 to work."
If I am only pairing this to my car and I have 2 vehicles with the same unit in each, a parrot ck3100 lcd, do you think I will still have the same problem?
That gave me an Idea I can make my Lexus bluetooth whatever name I want. What do you think would happen if i changed the name to PLN 510, the Plantronics ear piece name. Then just made sure they both wern't on at the same time.
Yeah, this is totally a lame bug and I can't believe that with 10 extra months of "testing" they didn't catch and fix this. I'm only using one bluetooth device and I have a hard time getting it to reconnect without messing with the phone each time I cycle the bluetooth.
Other than this issue I am getting use to the i760 over the i730. I hope it gets fixed soon. Come on SD and mrailing!!

Unfortunately, yes, you will still have the problem. I may be mistaken about this, but each BT device, even if it's the same model, will have a different hardware address. That is what is used in the pairing process. The name is just for display purposes.

Yes that is correct. It is not usng the name for matching.

I will deal w/ one thing at a time. The case number I have is for this exact issue and I wont trouble them w/ tracking seperate issues on the same case. That being said anyone can open a case w/ them for the low volume issue. I wont have time today to call level 3 support but I see that ittech has also been refered to level 3 and got the same answer 'all our other phones work just fine' and 'this phone is too new, we dont know anything about it'. ittech may have info for everyone before I do.
ittech - maybe we can swap case numbers to show the engineers that this isn't an isolated problem. PM me please if you'd like to discuss this.
I doubt a speedy fix on this from samsung but I will say that I know its being worked on by users on this forum.
I'm not sure I'm going to call into Samsung tier 3 as I've realized my issue isn't what I thought it was at first. I'm now finding if I only have one hands free device it auto reconnects just fine. If you have multiple I understand it does not. Unfortunately I only have one hands free device so I can’t adequately test this for everyone so even if I was calling Samsung on this I'd be no good for testing.
Thanks and sorry folks. I'll have to sit on the side line and watch.

I just called myself. Bottom line, its broken. Who knows when a fix will be released. Guess I'll send mine back and give the 6800 a try since it should be released on Friday.

Did you call VZW or Samsung?
What did they say?

I just got off the phone with Samsung and they told me it was designed that way-you will have to manually switch when changing headsets. Does that make sense to anyone??

It makes sense that is what they would say as most people in tech supportsknow nothing except what thier computer screen tells them. I initially spoke to a guy who told me the same thing. I said thats rediculous and insisted on speaking to level 2 support. After I explained the entire problem again she understood what I was talking about and said that they would have to release a update to fix that.
It's definitely a big PIA, but I like the device enough that I'll live with it for now. I suspect this awesome group will somehow figure out a fix at some point with or without Samsung....
I'm going to live with it. My BT issue is, that sometimes it disconnects itself. I'll get in the car and it automatically connects. Works fine. Then after a call or two, it disconnects itself. I have to manually reconnect with the phone. It seems like a similar issue, but I can't figure it out.
Here's a quick tip:
We all know it's a pain to get to the "Headset" tab if you're not using the stylus. You can also select the device from the first tab in the BT settings, check off "Handsfree" and press "Save".
It still sucks, but it's a little quicker and easier for one-handed operation.

Tis true, but here is what I do. Press right menu, Up on cursor, click OK, hold down right arrow for about 5 seconds, glance at screen, should be on the Headset tab. Click and hold on the device I want to set. I can now do this without looking to get to the tab, and am working on learning which device is where so I can press up and down to select the device, hold the center button and hit is again to select "set as handsfree".
Hopefully a solution will come sooner than later........

I realized this yesterday, that holding the center of the dpad brings up the menu to select hands free. Its a good tip and makes the process slightly more tolerable. Its a great tip though.
in tinkering, i noticed that ON THE I730 (havent got a i760 yet )
there is a way to get the bluetooth gps working without having to use create-a-port (mrailing you know of this). in the registry i changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\bluetooth\device\0081b0e313
from a 1 to 2.
that made it so that now the only issue is that i have to re-pair!
im sure our issue lies within that registry setting...
i tried this yesterday ON MY I730. i`ll keep tinkering until i figure it out as i am not worried about bricking my phone (wink)
