This is a bug. I am sure it isn't intensional.

First, be patient folks, this issue is being looked at by more than one person. You all are early adopters, and being an early adopter, it is us that will find the issues with the device, and either create/find a work around ourselves, or be able to push Samsung/Verizon to fix it (although unlikely on the last part).

I agree this sucks. And someone with 4 devices I rotate with regularly (3 different headsets and my Parrot kit in the car), it's frustrating to say the least.

Be patient...

Ugh - add me to the list of folks who want to see a fix for this one. I missed some calls while I was swearing at my bluetooth headset after I had paired the phone with my BMW. When I saw this thread I was hoping someone had figured out something I had missed in the setup.

Because of this being a rather large issue. I am going to stick this thread for the time being...

I was waiting for you to chime in as I've seen you around following your posts here and on FA since we both got the 730 .

I was hoping you would say the M paired and held tight so you could tell me how you did it.

Has anyone seen if any of the obex, etc. boxes get unchecked as well? I barely know what this stuff is but if it is only the 'handsfree' box and not the others, that may help with the problem solving. Conversely if it is everything then that may help as well.

Normally I would agree with you Mr Railing, but, after reading that this is also a problem with another of the Samsung Phones I don't see any quick fix happening. As you say you are using 4 devices as do I and its not worth the upgrade for me to wait for Samsung. If they get it worked out I will buy another one. As I said Bluetooth is about the most important thing on a Phone for me. By the way, thank you for all you do for all of us, I don't say much but I do come on and check things out and you have been a tremendous asset for me.

POSSIBLE FIX?

anyone want to test this? if you go to the registry

HKLM\software\microsoft\bluetooth\device

you should see a variety of numbers that are specific to each device. if you click on the numbers there should be a value called "name" that will identiy the device. drill down to the key that says "services" and you will see another series of keys with numbers. each of these keys represent services avaialble to the device.

go to the key that says name=handsfree

modify Enabled=1 for all handfree devices

im too lazy to go out to my car, but when i did this and i went into BT devices it showed that BT handsfree was enabled for my bmw and plantronics hs whereas it used to be one of the other. i placed a call on my plantronics hs and then went back to check the BT settings and both the bmw and plantronics are sitll enabled.

ill check tomorrow morning to confirm if this fixes the problem.

Interesting thought but the results weren't all that promising. I set both my car (BMW Z4) and the Plantronics headset to be enabled (set to 1) on this value and when I checked the Bluetooth menu settings it looked like both devices were enabled.

I tried a phone call to the i760 and the Plantronics earpiece was able to answer the call just fine but when I went down to my car it was unable to answer. I checked the values in the Bluetooth menu and right after that effort neither the car or the earpiece had a check in the checkbox. By the time I got back to my desk and checked again the Plantronics entry showed it to be enabled and the BMW entry was not checked. The registry entry for Enable for the BMW was also back to "0" while the headset entry for the Plantronics was at "1".

It acts like there are some pieces of code somewhere else that determine how these registry values are used/manipulated.

It is interesting to note that the car shows bluetooth properties for "handfree" while the Plantronics has setups for "headset". This is true for both for the registry values as well as the bluetooth menus.

I'm having further issues with the Bluetooth stack. On the 730, I had no issues transferring the phonebook to my car. Now, no dice. Further, I cannot "End Call" through the bluetooth interface in the car. I can receive and make calls (if I dial or through the handset, since there is no phonebook now), but cannot hang up. This is awful. If it had been an issue with this car and the 730, I'd be patient, but these issues are a definite step backwards.

i think the problem ur having with an empty phonebook is an issue with uninstalling jetware mobile. on my 730 when i uninstalled jetware it did the same thing and showed "empty phonebook". when i reinstalled jetware on the i730 it loaded the phone book correctly.

ive got the same problem since uninstalling jetware from the 760, empty phonebook. i sent an email to jetware and havent received a response yet. if you reinstall jetware on the 760, even tho its not fully compatible the phone book will load again.

Those registry changes will not work, they will reset once a device is connected.

SuperDave and I were working on this (I should say more SuperDave on the file end, me on the try it and reporting on the status) and he thinks it's related to the Bluetooth using a file that was created by Samsung called HSCFG.dll. It's different than the default bluetooth file that Microsoft uses in their stack: btagsvc.dll. This file does the switching. Do not contact SuperDave asking him questions, we quit working on it and he's waiting to get his i760 before he's going to continue to try.

But it seems to be in those files and the way that Samsung is connecting and paring the devices...

Come on Mark, why call when we have the chance to fix it ourselves...

I haven't had the time to call and complain. Tange1 was going to call Samsung and explain it to them... Verizon has always been useless, so personally I don't want to spend the time explaining it and hearing "That's how it works..."

Thanks John. I will try that, and further, will use the previous version of the Jetware CAB, which worked with the 730. I also received this email response from Jetware today. Sort of interesting, and maybe a clue for MR and SD....

"Thanks Eric. I have heard that Samsung’s WM6 update for the BlackJack fixes the compatibility problem that the WM5 version has. I’m hoping that this is an indicator that Samsung has decided to use the full set of APIs defined by Microsoft for the BT audio gateway, so that extensions such as ours will work with their phones. However, it will require a ROM update to allow the i760 to work."

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't think this is a bug.

If you check the BT settings, there is a tab all the way over to the right called "Headset". It lists all of the paired headsets and tells you which one is currently set. You have to tap and hold the one you want to use and select "Connect handsfeee".

This is something we'll have to bug VZ about for the first ROM update.

If I am only pairing this to my car and I have 2 vehicles with the same unit in each, a parrot ck3100 lcd, do you think I will still have the same problem?
