I, too, can confirm that they have not 100% fixed this issue with 6.1. There is a minor improvement for me, but I still must "remind" my phone that the BT device I am switching to is Handsfree. I use my BT car system (Infiniti G35) and a PLT510.

The minor improvement I found is with the car. I used to have to make a call each and every time I got into the car, even if I hadn't use the PLT510 between. For some reason, my car BT system would not fully connect with the phone...it showed on the car's BT screen and all, but when a call came in, the car wouldn't recognize it and I'd have to answer on the phone. So to make the connection each time, I got in the habit of calling VM each time I started the car...and I'd have to select "Answer" on the car even though I had made the call directly from the phone...after that quick VM call, incoming calls would come through to the car just as they should.

Now, when I make that initial VM call, I don't have to select Answer on the car -- which tells me that the car and phone have already fully connected, so that's an improvement with WM6.1 (albeit slight). I have yet to run a controlled test and receive a call in the car without having first made my VM outbound call...I am hopeful that it'll work fine now.

Interestingly, my PLT 510 has no problems switching between what it is paired to. I have it paired both with my i760 as well as a base unit on my office phone. I can shift between them and the headset connects seamlessly to either. Sad that the i760 itself is less capable than the headset for this function (I say "function", not "feature").

BTW -- IMO, there are other improvements with 6.1 that make me, so far, overall glad to have upgraded. Still diagnosing some other problems, but the "goods" at the moment outweigh the "bads", at least for me.

I cannot believe that they went through all this to make a new update and after hundreds of complaints by phone they still didn't either

A. fix it
B. add a checkbox option so you choose whether headset is locked to a device or roaming to available devices
C. send me a personal assistant to follow me around and change the bluetooth setting on the phone for the 15-20 times a day I need to change it.

looks like the next experiment for me will be some flash poking until the new touch pro comes out.

hey I have a G35 also and this works for me (even before the 6.1 update). When I get in the car and start the car I wait a couple of seconds and I hit the phone button on the G35 console (top right next to the NAV). When I do this the phone screen comes up and it looks like it's making a call (but it's not) I wait about one second and then I hit the "OK" button on the car causing it to hang up. But when I hitthe button I keep it pressed for about 3 seconds. The phone disconnects from it's mystery call and then it's fine.

I know it's wierd but hell, it's the only thing that works for me.

Map Button to Bluetooth Settings to help with Bluetooth issue

I too am frustrated with having to check that damn box in the bluetooth settings each time I switch headsets.

To make this easier, I want to map button 2 (long press) to the Bluetooth setting screen. Only this is not a choice in the lookup table.

Does anyone know if this can be done and if so, how?

Thanks, I share in everyone's frustration!

Great phone but serious shortcoming.

I personally do not have the knowledge... but is anyone out there cooking up a new ROM to fix the multiple devices not auto connecting issue, by using the recent ROM release? Just curious. I'm just trying to figure out if i'm gonna drop the i760 soon for an HTC Diamond.

i760 multiple bluetooth

Well, I'm glad it's not just me. I couldn't believe I was too dumb to figure out what was wrong! I have a new i760, a Toyota Rav4 with the hands-free bluetooth thing, and a Motorola Bluetooth headset.

Every time I go from the headset to the car, I have to manually switch the stupid thing. Samsun has most recently told me that the problem is that I don't have the latest software. I have v.BC04 They say the latest is BD something or other.

So now I have to go home and install that AutoSync thing (I'm only using wireless sync right now) and see if that solves the problem. I've had the phone for a total of four days. I can't BELIEVE I don't have the latest software version, but we'll see.

Having to switch back and forth with the bluetooth may cause me to change phones. What a pain.

Dude, this has been going on for over a year. This is nothing new. I've had the i760 since day 1 and I'm soon going to get rid of it because of this problem. The bluetooth on this phone is a piece of ****.

The current version is BD14, but it does not fix this issue.

I've gotten used to having to go to Bluetooth settings and changing the Headset for the most part but is there anyway to get to that screen with a shortcut so I don't have to scroll those tabs all the way to the right to get to Headset? Almost impossible to get to without a stylus or in a moving car. Once I'm there I can easily set the correct device but getting there is a pain.

That's a great find, but I dont want to have insall a 3rd party app to add to my today screen, unless there is a workaround?

In that thread, there is now a post about how to add the link to the Today screen without the need for an add-on app. I have not yet tested it myself...because the link I created and tested took me to the wrong place in my Control Panel...and I haven't had any time to diagnose further...

Send a message via AIM to ctrompeter

I was reviewing this thread in hopes there was a fix for this but doesn't seem like there is or ever will be. Stinks, I have a headset and a speakerphone in the car and have to do the same as everyone else and manually select back and forth.

Not only do I have to do the same as you, but ever since upgrading to 6.1 I have to leave the boom open on my h710 or it will disconnect from the i760 and not reconnect when I open the boom. Other than this issue I still love this phone. Slingplayer works great many games. One other minor issue for me is the soft touch screen. I still have no idea where to go next since the touch pro sucks. I would go with an iPhone but there are too many limitations with that route as well including poor service coverage. Oh well someday maybe someone will release a real phone.

Are you really gonna make us beg?

Somebody out there has to have the knowledge to write a hack for this issue. I wish I had the knowledge myself, I would gladly help everyone out. Even if we could just import the i760's bluetooth stack. I would be happy. At least the phone would connect to whatever device it had been paired with previously without any issue. + no user intervention being needed. OK I am begging. I do love this phone other than this one issue.! Please Please Please!

I have given up on the bluetooth issue.

I look at new options and while on paper and seeing videos it looks awesome when you go into the VZW store to play with the Omnia or HTC Touch pro its screen isn't sensitive enough and the Omnia has serious lag when swapping from portrait to landscape and while the touch screen keyboard is fairly accurate I just like a tactile keyboard dialing numbers is easy.

I wish VZW didn't eff up negotiations with Apple regarding the Iphone, Apple approached VZW first and VZW balked, so Apple walke.

Stylus-free to BT screeen

I didn't read through all the posts on this topic so I hope this isn't redundant.

You can get to the BT settings without the stylus as follows:

1) Right menu button (lower right Menu on screen)
2) Up one on menu select button to Bluetooth Settings
3) Center button to select Bluetooth Settings
4) Down button to highlight the BT device of choice
5) Center button to select BT device of choice
6) Down button to select BT device check box
7) Right Menu button to SAVE
8.) Side center button (side of phone) to exit BT Settings screen

After doing this a few times, you'll almost be able to do it without looking but it is still an annoying issue. From what I experienced recently with Samsung service for an LCD TV I had to return, I would not expect a fix - ever.

If you have a car charger.. or just spare batteries, uncheck the power savings in the system menu.. You can leave the option for the backlight to turn off - just don't have the screen turn off.. It should hold a connection.. I was able to have the wifi stay enabled during 'standby' - but even after fooling with similar reg settings, I cannot make bluetooth do the same. Its very frustrating.
