While you're at it, could you possibly ask them about the low ring volume issue we are discussing in another thread? The problem seems to be universal, and while some think it may be a "feature" I think most would consider it a bug. Not nearly as big a bug as the one discussed in this thread, but a bug nonetheless.
What I really can't beleive is how long Verizon delays these phones for "testing" and yet doesn't fix anything that is wrong with them which we all notice in 5 minutes to 1 week.
Not to hijack this thread b/c I am having the same problem. Going from jabra headset to my car BT I had to keep hitting the handsfree check box as well.
Tange, if you could take a look at this thread when you call Samsung as well i think this needs attention:
Again, sorry to hijack the thread but man, it seems like the decision makers who were doing some of this programming had some real brain farts when it came to some of this stuff.
Wait, weren't we all complaining months ago that they should have just released the phone and we'd all work with whatever bugs there were
Thanks!
Jay

I'm talking to Level 2 Support right now... They haven't heard of this issue and are surprised that it does not work. The guy confirms that "all their other phones" support more than one headset and use whichever is active and in range.
This makes me so mad. Isn't this a very basic feature that should be part of any Bluetooth capable phone. Now I have to take my headset into the car with me instead of using the Acura HandsFreeLink that I'm so used to!?!
I hope they can fix it soon. This is almost a deal-breaking bug for me.

Yeah, this really could be a deal breaker for me as well. On my way to work the screen kept lighting up, I was baffled as to the reason. Eventually realizing it was my Acura HFL trying to connect to the phone.
I will deal w/ one thing at a time. The case number I have is for this exact issue and I wont trouble them w/ tracking seperate issues on the same case. That being said anyone can open a case w/ them for the low volume issue. I wont have time today to call level 3 support but I see that ittech has also been refered to level 3 and got the same answer 'all our other phones work just fine' and 'this phone is too new, we dont know anything about it'. ittech may have info for everyone before I do.
ittech - maybe we can swap case numbers to show the engineers that this isn't an isolated problem. PM me please if you'd like to discuss this.
I doubt a speedy fix on this from samsung but I will say that I know its being worked on by users on this forum.

My i760 arrived 2 nights ago (so I don't have extensive experience with it), but I have it paired with both my Infiniti M35x and an old Moto HS820 (I think) earset.
The i760 links to my car just fine, and disconnects when I shut off the car. When I put on my earset, it links up fine, too, and disconnects cleanly when I power it down. When I get back in the car, the phone links just fine again.
Last night, I ran the earset and car link/unlink cycle 5 or 6 times to see if it would fail, and it worked every time. The test was a bit artificial, though, since I didn't place any calls during it; all I did was turn each unit (the car or the earset) on/off to see if they would re-connect appropriately. But I watched the Bluetooth connection status screen as I did it, and could watch as it updated correctly.
Am I missing something?
By the way... my i760 is still pretty much virgin: the only software I've
installed is Epocrates and a couple of Sudoku games I'm using on a trial basis; no hacks or mods, though.
have u actually been talking with both BT handsfree devices? not just pairing them but actually talking. it will still load the phonebook to ur car because it is not using the handsfree service.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've actually used the earset during a call, though I've used the car's handsfree during calls.
I have to say this is my one and only disappointment with the device, but it is a BIG disappontment. Further, this implementation of Bluetooth is incompatible with Jetware, which greatly enhances bluetooth. They have reported that the same issues exist with the Blackjack, so I'd say this is a Samsung issue rather than Verizon. Maybe that means there's a better chance of an update. Another thought: BT worked better on the 730, at least for me (and Jetware Compatible). Any chance of someone testing moving the registry entries and dlls from the 730 over to the 760?
I have permission tomorrow to go right to the top level support to open a case on this. I'm sure this is going to be fun...
Andrew, I am glad that you are looking into this issue.
I am supprised that this issue was not found during FUT testing.
Equuas, were you aware of this issue?

I'll get back to you.
After undertaking some more in-depth testing, I have to confirm that my i760 is displaying the same behavior the rest of you have described.
Actually using one of my Bluetooth devices unchecks the "Handsfree" box for the other device on the Bluetooth "Partnership Settings" tab.
This is a deal breaker for me, everything else works just great right out of the box, but without Bluetooth working properly I won't use this. I already put it on Ebay. I'll stick with my I730, which is funny now that I think of it, the 760 is a next generation phone, why would they change something as basic as this? Oh well, thats why the engineers get big bucks, they know more than me about these things.
