I have just read this whole thread and am thorougly confused. Could someone knowledgeable summarize the present situation re SCH-i760 and Bluetooth Vocie dialling?
For example: When you give directions to go in and change the registry, I have no idea where to go. I know how to access the registry on my desktop PC, but have been totally unable to find it on the i760.
If I had a fix that would let me use my BT headset (a brand-new Motorola that Verizon told me would work with the Samsung phone) to do handfree dialing, I would not care about the other stuff. I regularly do a 1 1/2 hour drive and would really like to be able to call clients (and my mom!) without endangering myself and others by having to press buttons or dial numbers on my phone.
The problem is not with voice dialing. The problem is that if you have more than one BT headset, you have to manually tell the i760 each time you change BT devices. It is a pain, but it certainly not a fatal issue. It should work automatically.

I spoke with Verizon B2B data team and I have an official ticket opened up on this issue with this thread included in the ticket. They will attempt to duplicate the problem and if successful, a ticket will be opened up with Samsung.
Case # 2027811826
Perhaps it might not be a bad idea to call Verizon and have your name/account added to my ticket.

What issue are you talking about?
This thread is so long that there are multiple issues being discussed.

I couldn't append to th above trouble ticket, but I opened yet another one with Verizon, he said if ENOUGH people call in and complain they will get Samsung involved. So everyone call and call frequently dammit.
When you give directions to go in and change the registry, I have no idea where to go. I know how to access the registry on my desktop PC, but have been totally unable to find it on the i760.
You need to install a Registry editor for PocketPC, such as PHM RegEdit (free), in order to edit the registry on your phone.
The current state is that a single hands-free device for the most part (depends on the device, not the i760) works, including working with non-handsfree devices (such as a GPS that doesn't act as a handsfree device). However, when using multiple handsfree devices (such as a handsfree headset and a car/motorcycle handsfree device) you must manually switch between devices.
No updates. Would someone care to call up Samsung and ask for an ETA for the patch release? Level 2 tech support should have a good idea of the release date now.
I opened a reference number with Samsung on this issue back in December. I called today to get an update. I had to work really hard to get to Level 2. The first level wanted me to send my phone in for repair!
The Level 2 rep said that Samsung now acknowledges that there is a multiple pairing problem. He wanted to know where I was getting my information and I gave him the link to this thread. He said that Samsung has just released an update for Cingular phones that fixes this problem. They are now working with Verizon to do the same thing. No specific date has been established. He told me to check the Samsung website for news about SCH-i760 updates. He did not mention any updates besides the Bluetooth fix, but I did not ask about any other fixes they may be working on. I did some web research and I could find no SCH-i760 firmware updates on the Samsung website, and AT&T (Cingular) does not appear to offer the SCH-i760. They have other Samsung phones and have many Bluetooth issues – but I did not find the multiple device issue in their forums. Maybe somebody else can come up with the right search criteria. I think it is a positive sign that the problem is acknowledged. However, I am not holding my breath for a fix. Someday when I have another 45 minutes to work through this with Samsung reps I will call again.
I think that this device was deliberately programed this way. It is not a bug. Why else would the but the BT menu item on the menu button on the main screen.
VZW wants you to have to use their Navigation products if you need to use a BT head set at the same time. In other words it was deliberate.
I hope i'm wrong.

I think your wrong. I first reported this problem to Verizon. They immediately agreed it was a problem and transferred me to Samsung. They did not try to sell me anything. The real criticality of this issue is supporting hands free telephone when driving without forcing you to manually select a bluetooth device. Besides, I believe there is not a problem with pairing multiple different devices like a nav system and a phone. The problem is with not automatically switching between Hands Free devices when one is turned off and the other is turned on.

This behavior did not exist on the devices that were tested by people (FUT) prior to VZW releasing it.
If you are using GPS SW on you phone with a BT GPS receiver and you want to use a BT handsfree headset at the same time you wont be able to have them both on at the same time.

If this is the case do you think we could d/l the firmware update and pull the new BT stack from it or just hte install the firmware period?
Mark_A_K's comment above is not correct. You can use a BT GPS receiver and a BT Headset at the same time. I do it every day...and I have a BT connection to my PC at the same time. The problem is that the phone won't switch from one BT HEADSET PROFILE to another BT HEADSET PROFILE automatically. This is a problem for people that have multiple BT Headset devices...such as a BT ear headset and an in car BT handsfree. Both are headset profiles and the phone won't switch from one headset profile to the other automatically. THERE IS NO PROBLEM OF HAVING MULTIPLE, NON-HEADSET BT DEVICES CONNECTED AT THE SAME TIME.

You are correct. You cannot have two handfree devices on at the same time. I cant think of an example of two deivces defined as handsfree but I thought that there was one.
The big problem is switching from one handsfree device to another. I have Parrot systems in all my cars and it is a real PITA.

I don't know if this is relevent to this forum because I'm new. I have a ford with Micro$oft Sync in it. With the i760 all works great untill I hang up the call. The display says "call on hold" and will not let me return to the radio/cd/usb music untill I unlink the phone then try to make a call and the audio is released back. While on the call on hold mode I can still make and recieve calls. Another bluetooth glitch I guess!
