Good Point!

Some of this may be accessory specific, rather than an i760 issue.

Still, it might be useful to try and sort these issues out.

Personally, I think this is a registry issue and we all should dig deep into the bowels of the registry of our phone under sub heading bluetooth or some variant and look at dword values.

I would do it now, but my new replacement i760 is coming as my first i760 somehow got corrupted and the ringer stopped working, but now works again and the bottom area where the charging cord clips in slips out alot.

Once I have the nw phone I am going to start looking there because this HAS to be a software problem.

You choose to fidget with the thing while you drive.

You have alternatives:
  • fidget with it before you drive
  • pull over and fidget with it
  • ignore it and drive
  • etc.
For whatever reasons (and you no doubt believe that they are justifiable), your priorities are focused on things other than driving. If safety (your personal safety as well as that of others) was your priority, then you would avoid the hazard. It's as simple as that.

But isn't the main reason for choosing a phone with an external dialpad so you can find contacts while driving with the other hand at 75mph? Anyone can do it if they're stopped

No, No. The other hand doesn't go on the wheel. You forgot that you're supposed to be eating a sandwich and drinking a cup of coffee at the same time you are finding contacts. It's easy. Just remember to keep both knees on the wheel at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions.

I hate to admit I have done that. Well, it was 7 and 5 o'clock. Bluetooth in the Camry and a Garmin NUVI have helped a bit.

I have a Pioneer 9800BT and I would always have to manually connect. I found this thread over at xda-developers and ever since I did the registry change it connects every time on it's own. It's not exactly geared for here but it sure works on my 760. I only use the 9800BT so I don't know if it will work for other devices. If you have a Pioneer give it a try.

Holy $hit!!

That's the EXACT headunit I have and I would have to manually connect it. Will it automatically connect the A2DP?

Well I did the exact same thing as presstech and I have the same phone and Pioneer P9800BT and it won't automatically connect, like his success has been. Presstech could explain in detail what you didto make it work? I did the registry hack and my hone kept it alive after soft reset.

I too have the Pioneer Premier P9800BT and had no issues pairing or reconnecting automatically with my i760. The problem doesn't show up until I switch to my Motorola H700 BT Head set. To be able to use my H700 after being connected to my P9800BT I have to Pair it. Once I pair with the H700 and want to go back to my P9800BT I have to pair it with the radio again. If I stick with one or the other I can reconnect all day long without issue. I sure hope someone comes up with a fix for this. It's friggin gettin old!. I am in and out of my car at least 5 times daily and having to switch between my headset and stereo and manually reconnecting each time. Please Phone Gods Help Us!

I have posted two requests for help, at the PhoneAlarm and rlToday fora respectively:

About the activate headset function

Rotlaus Software support forum / Tech help needed... not *exactly* for rlToday

Reported problem to Verizon tech level 2 in North Carolina. He said that the more senior people at VZW are aware, and that they have a BT testing session planned for this afternoon (12/18 ).

Wow... nice / responsive guy at VZW. Called me back 5 minutes later just to say that he went and tested the i760 himself, and that, yes, devices on the same BT service knock each other out.

I think that's the first time a CSR has ever called me back just to say "you are right"!!

Am I reading the thread posted by rpodos at the phone alarm forum correctly? It looks like they included a fix in the latest version of PA. I don't own this program, but will surely buy it if that is the case. Can someone confirm this works?

About the activate headset function
Bruce specifically lists "i760 Handsfree/Headset support" in the version notesfor 1.64, which was released today.

I am downloading now, and will report back.
