newbie here so be gentle.

Getting an i760 shortly - done with my years of Palm OS Treo's. But the SMS threaded app on the Palm OS based treo's also handles MMS's in the same threads with the SMS's. Sounds like the windows Palm ripped app tries to do MMS's too? But if I'm reading correctly the MMS portion isn't working because it sounds like it has some sprint MMS server hardcoded? If that's the case can't we just ask someone with a verizon WM treo to get us that version and then maybe the MMS portion of would also work and presto chango all would be well?

am I totally off base (please be gentle-LOL) or does that sound likely?

anyone know what WM based sprint treo the files came from?

I have mine installed but I am not seeing anything now. When I get an SMS message it launches the regular SMS app. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall and I can't get anything to work. Any ideas guys?

Talking Problem eith timely recpetion of SMS Messages

Since installing the SMS Thread App (ripped from Treo), I have not been able to receive SMS messages until I actually turn my i760 on from standby/sleep mode(the phone service is already on and I can get phone calls that bring me from sleep/standby to a fully-activated machine).

Anyone else?

Solutions?

Reinstall?

Much appreciated.

Anyone know how to completely uninstall this? I uninstalled it from "remove programs" but there must be some settings left behind or something. If i go to "Messaging", it says "Enter a signature here" under MMS, but if I go into the options to set a singature, MMS is missing. I only have "Text messages", "outlook email", "windows live", and "new account".

I don't have a link to any specific site to back up this claim, but it seems that Microsoft has heard the cries of their consumers, and has decided to include a threaded SMS application in Windows Mobile 6.1. I heard it from a friend who's in-the-know about that kind of stuff, but I couldn't find the same info about the release in my own brief search.

I have found that I am better off just using PocketCM to see threaded texts. I still text from the default messenger, but when I want to read a convo I open up pocketcm.

I have my problems looking up numbers in pocketcm but it really is easier to just use the front keypads. it kills me that you can type out a person's name T9 style and it will find the person, as well as numbers that correspond with those key presses... however you can't use T9 while texting from the front keys

sorry about the last tangent... just something i thought about today

Windows Mobile 6.1: Windows Mobile 6.1 Has Streamlined Today Screen, More Improvements

"Among them are a sideways scrolling home screen that gets rid of the cluttered Today page you have now, threaded SMS, recent programs in the Start Menu, and an auto-completing To: field in emails and SMS."

In the video, they show the threaded SMS, be warned, the video is very slooow.

Yeah, there aren't any videos or screenshots of 6.1 running on a PPC. But, I'm sure the feature additions will be the same. I know I can't wait till it is released. These should have been in WM6, if you ask me.

Which One? Too Many Links...

I installed the email softkey one.
And yes when I use MMS there are 2 MMS selections. The one that says Enter A Signature here is your original one that came with the phone that will work. The other one that just says MMS will not work at all.
I am slighty confused on which one to install. I've been following this thread in hopes of finding the right .cab that can install without any registry tweaks. I don't have the time to tweak at the moment and I don't want to cripple my MMS if have to use it. So is the one I quoted above the one I should use or still I have to tweak the registry to get it to work seamlessly with MMS?

That's the one we've all installed. From my understanding you will still have to tweak the registry for mms. I don't use mms, so I didn't tweak it.

Send a message via ICQ to dangerous

I finally did a hard reset on my Phone as i was having issues with connecting to my computer. Yes, there is another thread on this.
After the hard reset, i could connect. I installed Pocket controller and Threaded sms. All was fine with connecting to the PC then i did a soft reset and i started having issues not being able to connect to the to sync. I removed Threaded SMS and did a soft reset and my Connection started working again. Has anyone else confirmed this?

Threaded SMS

I discovered a very reliable threaded SMS client for Pocket PC Phone. It handles both square and rectangular displays. It has some good configuration options for the display and has an excellent popup notification functionality too.

SMS Client

Downsides are that it only runs on WM 5.0 or better and the license needs to be activated.

Otherwise, a nice simple SMS Client

Otherwise, a nice simple application which is not so hot on graphics and presentation but has good functionality/setup opions.

Vito SMSChat is out

I just grabbed a copy from pda4x and it seems to work perfectly. Not a lot of options to tweak....but I'm sure as newer versions get released more features will be added. For now it does exactly what I want....SMS in a threaded view.

FYI, I'm not sure if it's due to the version I got from pda4x but in the top left corner of the screen there seems to be a debugging window open that has 2 values in it. It doesn't seem like the screen coordinates but the values change when I use my stylus or finger on the screen. Minor issue that I'm sure will be resolved soon.

I'd post the link, but not sure if that's allowed.....

If you leave the Palm sms screen on display (as in the screen showing the threaded sms to an individual) and receive a txt (most likly from that person) does the phone vibrate?

I know mine does this but only when the Palm sms is actually open and at the front...if i hit the X and then get a txt it works the way i have it set up in setting (it blinks the LED and makes a beep (if volume is on) when the phone is on standby or active.

Thanks in advance.
