I would really love to figure out why it switches to the really small text most of the time. Has anyone figured that out yet? It's almost impossible to read.
Mine does that too but I deal with it since the alternative is worse! I have found that by exiting all they way out of MMS and going back in when a text comes in it will most of the time go back to the larger print. But not always
I am having a problem with SPB Phone Suite not showing how many sms messages I have. Is anyone else having this problem? Also when I run Memmaid it finds a bunch of duplicate notificatons, does this have anything to do with the phone suite problem I am having? Below is a list of software I am running.
SPB Pocket Plus
SPB Weather
SPB Phone Suite
MemMaid
Resco File Explorer
Cody WM6 Threaded SMS
SPB Wallet
SK Tools
IM+
MS Live Search
Gx5 Ultimate Search Today Plugin
PdaNet
everyone with the problem of not being able to find the correct key to copy and paste, i had the same problem. the reason why you can't find it, is because it's not there. some apps modify the registry. in my case it was textr. i tried it before coming upon this thread. even after uninstalling textr, the registry stays modified and the needed key is missing. i had to hard reset my i760 to get it back. i know that some of you tried hard resetting to no avail, so i'll outline exactly what i did step by step, just in case the order of actions has anything to do with it. so:
1. hard reset the phone (hold down the middle enter button and hit the reset switch - you should see "clearing data" on the screen)
2. send an sms and mms to yourself to make sure the service works and it's not a verizon problem.
3. install resco explorer and registry plugin cab files (since you'll need them for this operation)
4. clear out your sms and mms messages to eliminate conflicts later
5. open task manager and close all running tasks
6. install the threaded sms plugin
7. open resco and do the registry mods:
a. Using a registry editor app, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\PushRouter\Registrations\ByGenericId
b. Delete the PC10 key (folder).
c. Find the key that has a 'Path' value of "\windows\MMSBallon.exe" and copy the 'GenId' data value. It should look similar but not identical to 80409F46E414C801 (this should be the first key in the ByGenericId folder).
d. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\PushRouter\Registrations\ByCTAndAppId\application/vnd.wap.mms-message\Default
e. Change the Default data value to the GenId from step 5.
Navigate to
f. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Palm\Varnish\Messaging\
g. Delete the MMS key (folder)
h. Soft reset.
(Sorry for the huge quote)
I did this TO THE WORD twice, and both times, when I got to send an MMS to myself, I get stuck at "Sending 0%" It generates the message just fine, but never sends it.
The only software I'm installing after the hard reset is the current RESCO and the softkey SMS version of the WM6 Threaded SMS app. Is this the right version of the Threaded SMS app? I think it should be, since it is the only version I've found that actually has the Palm/Varnish key. The other version I had that I had tried had the /Varnish key under "ThreadedText." It seemed that they renamed it from Palm to THREADEDTEXT or whatever it was.
Also, does the install location (Device or SD card) matter?
Please help me out. I love threaded SMS, but I love MMS messaging, too! I need BOTH!!!
UPDATE: It will finish sending now... and I can send MMS, but not receive (sound familiar?) When I send an MMS to myself, it will finish sending, but then I get the low memory error message. I get 2-4 every time I send myself an MMS. Do I get one for each MMS I have waiting for me? Can I go online somewhere and clean out my MMS inbox? Didn't Verizon have PixPlace or something? No esta algo mas...

trying to send to myself gets stuck @ 0% like above..how did you get to send?
I had a different version of the Threaded SMS app when it would get stuck @ 0%. I fixed THAT PROBLEM by downloading a different version of the Threaded SMS app. The one I got was linked in a post (here). I installed the version that had the SMS softkey, as opposed to the email softkey. There were two versions in the .zip file. This new program (as mentioned) also had a PALM/Varnish key... the old one had ThreadedSMS/Varnish.
So... long story short, get the version linked to earlier to fix this problem.
I hope that helped...
I still cannot receive MMS messages after this change, though. Rather than receiving an MMS message, I get the out of memory popup. I would think that this should be an obvious fix for you software-savvy users out there. Please say yes...
Also... who's with me in thinking that MICROSOFT should make a threaded SMS/MMS software update for WM6? To hell with these 3rd party shenanigans... I want something that works without tinkering. Don't get me wrong... I love tinkering, but SMS and MMS are things that I just want to work all the time without worrying about configuration.

I can send MMS but I cant receive. I dont even get a out of memory pop up. I get nothing, no indication of a message. Does anyone know if you only get the message when your data is connected (dormant or active)? I haven't figured out whats wrong yet.

I have the same problem and I dont have the SMS patch installed. Im on the Verizon right now. No indication, no error message, nothing.
I installed this and followed the directions exactly. I can send and receive MMS fine and SMS is working perfect. The only snag I had was I edited a key and it didn't save it and I had to edit it again and it saved fine. The only thing I miss a little is having it voice the text over my BT headset but otherwise I don't know how I ever dealt with SMS before this.

Which version of SMS threaded did you install?

OK... I'm back and interested in getting this to work again. I was preoccupied in another thread trying to get the bluetooth to work in my car with my Pioneer radio. Now that I figured that all out, and got a lot of registry training in the process, I'm ready to get threaded SMS with MMS in/out support.
Hi, I am very new to this and just purchased my i760 on Monday. I have spent numerous hours researching the phone even before I decided to purchase it and now many more numberous hours reading and researching on everything it can do. Have to say it's a bit overwhelming....but this site has provided alot of helpful answers. My question right now is, is there a way to get rid of that little pop-up window that shows up everytime you receive and send a message. I would rather the full screen with the message shows up instead of having to read it from the little screen. Am I doing something wrong? When I get a text message, I press the soft key for notification, but only the little screen opens up. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I installed this today and while I've only played with it for a couple of hours, it has a very sweet threaded SMS app built into it. So far I like it a lot.

Anyone else having an issue with the keypad space button? Sometimes I can't use the keypad to respond to a txt message. I have to exit out of the chat and go back in in order to get it to work.....
Directions look good, but I would add to delete:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Palm\Varnish\Messaging\MMS
This seems to keep the Palm app from fighting with the stock MMS application. Also, you need to make sure the MMS application and the Palm application are not running prior to changing the registry, otherwise it won't let you modify/save it.
You can not use Palm Threaded to send or recieve MMS, it doesn't work right, and why would you want to? The application that comes with the i760 is awesome!
So, I would change it to:
1. Install threaded SMS application found here.
2. Make sure threaded sms & stock mms are not running.
3. Using a registry editor app, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\PushRouter\Registrations\ByGenericId
4. Delete the PC10 key (folder).
5. Find the key that has a 'Path' value of "\windows\MMSBallon.exe" and copy the 'GenId' data value. It should look similar but not identical to 80409F46E414C801.
6. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\PushRouter\Registrations\ByCTAndAppId\application/vnd.wap.mms-message\Default
7. Change the Default data value to the GenId from step 5.
Navigate to
8. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Palm\Varnish\Messaging\
9. Delete the MMS key (folder)
10. Soft reset.
I’m getting two notifications (today screen, get the “New MMS” notification on both applications), so there is some kind of handler that is notifying both applications, haven't had time to figure it out. If someone has figured it out, please post fix. My next mission is to get the version with animated smilieys working....
can someone please tell me how to do step #5???how do you find it?
