This threaded SMS is pretty cool. I installed it from the cab file and did none of the Registry fixes, and it seems to work fine. didn't try the MMS as it didnt work before i installed it (threaded sms).
How do you install something like this? I can't figure out where to put what...

I know you figured it out, but it was just asked earlier today and I responded then, post #56. Please take a bit of time and read through the posts in the threads, as this will probably lead to a quicker answer, since many people before you probably had the same question. Don't be afraid to ask, just take a bit of time and read through the threads for the answer.
I also have this on my list to address for the Setup Guide. Since you are a newb, I would highly recommend you read the i730 setup guides (yup both the WM2003 and the WM5 guides, found in the yellow header of the i730 forum, or in the link in my signature). This will help give you some information about the Windows Mobile OS...

I don't use MMS. I don't have a plan for it, nor do I want to use it. Paying $0.25/message isn't something I want to do when a simple e-mail with the photo attached hits the people I want to get something to pretty quick.
I still have the PDA SMS 2000 Allowance on my account, and I don't think it allows MMS messages, and I really don't want to look into this feature, so I don't want to mess with my plan, and messing with MMS and calling Verizon about it, can do just that, and I lose this great feature....
I do use SMS heavily, around 500-1000 messages a month. I do use it for it's original purpose of connecting to Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 (pre-sp2) servers. I do this for testing purposes, especially when working on migrating systems. I already pay Verizon $180/month, and I really don't feel like giving them any more money for SMS or MMS.
So simple answer, no I am not having any issues, cause I don't use it... Email is the way I send photos, or ask that people send them to me, since I pay $45/month for data...

I have setup the sms thread program successfully however, i tried testing it out using my AIM account and friends phones...in the sms setting should it be selected to "Automatic" or "Manuel" If it is selected for manuel what should the setting be im guess that mms.spintpcs.com/servlets/mms is wrong but vzw if im correct is mms.vzw.com/servlets/ if manuel is the correct thing to select why won't it save with the vzw site and is that the only thing that should be entered...

$180/month???? sweet jesus!! They should put your picture on their wall as their best customer.
I actually found the answer in the "MMS?!" thread. You were right Michael.. it was a Verizon problem.
I just Dialed *22899 from the phone and let it update, then called *228 option 2 and let it update and soft reset. Voila! MMS works fine now..
Thank you once again Michael for all your help! I love this forum!
I have mine working flawlessly from what I can tell and it is great. I can send/receive sms and mms with no problems...and from what I can tell, my notifications are also working correctly.
All I did was follow the instructions deleting the PC10 folder and copying and pasting the correct key in the designated spot (then a soft reset).
If I notice a problem, but as of now everything is good. So, if you are trying to decide if you want to do this or not, I would give it a go and see what happens.
Sorry to bump the old thread but I waited until everyone tried this out then tried. I installed the program fine and SMS is my softkey and it receives the text messages thusfar, my only problem is that I didn't delete any of those files and am unsure about MMS. I am still very new and have been reading around but coming from an old treo (I didn't alter anything), I need threaded texts.
Could someone please tell me where exactly on my i760 I delete that file, and find the "code" to copy and paste? I've been searching through file explorer with no avail.

Seriously the answers are all in this thread. If you are unfamiliar with editing the registry.. you might want to do a backup first.
I know the answers are in the thread but what I'm asking is how do I edit my registry from my phone. I've never done this before. I'm experienced with my desktop but no clue how to do it on the i760.

You can get a registry editor in lots of different places, but this is the one I use:
removed...
Also go to the link in my signature and read the WM2003 Setup Guide. I explain registry editing in there...
EDIT: It was reported this didn't install right away, check out this thread:

4. Find the key that has a 'Path' value of "\windows\MMSBallon.exe" and copy the 'GenId' data value. It should look similar but not identical to 80409F46E414C801.
Please take some time and actually read through the thread before asking questions, specifically this post from earlier, it has the information you need:
