Cons:
  • Plaster cover of the slide-out keyboard
  • Can't hold the phone to your head to talk on
  • No clip (already mentioned)

Found a Winner!!

After being sick of pocket lint on the screen and then buying a broken samsung holster, I decided to do some serious searching for cases!
I'm actually pretty excited about what I found... naztech (Naztech Technologies - Flash Detection) makes some pretty killer stuff! The best part is the fit of the "H5" size is nearly identical to the i760 size! -They must be euros because everything is in cm. In case you're wondering, the i760 comes in at 11.5 X 5.8 X 2 cm and the naztech "Bravo" case specs are 11.5 X 6.3 X 2 cm.

I am either going to go with the "Bravo" or the "Boa" style. -I kicked around the idea of the "Rebel" to appease my inner rockstar, but then I'd have to start wearing eyeliner...

Naztech Technologies - Products

or

Naztech Technologies - Products

or maybe even

Naztech Technologies - Products

I like the slightly smaller size with the "Bravo", but the color options with the "Boa"! decisions decisions...

Very nice.

I found a case at home that I used to use with my Treo. It has a magnetic flap. The magnet appears to be activating the device. It either turns the device on or turns on landscape mode.

I am not sure why a magnet would do this, but I think I will stay away from cases that use magnets.

my krusell vertalic case has a small magnet the size of a dime and it so far hasn't activated the screen. the magnet on the pocket solutions case i talked about earlier is much bigger.
off topic: i am posting this from my nokia 770 tethered to the 760!!!!!!

Six...: What Verticalic are you using? I've been using what I think is their 'small' for the i730 for some time and love it. Asked another way, are you using the same size case for the i760 as you used on the i730? Thanks for you reply.

Yes it's the same Vertalic I used for the 730. The 760 is swimming in it but it works for now. The vertalic is my fav holster by far. Although now I prolly only use a case 20% of the time. This is so much smaller than the 730 I pocket it a lot.

Very nice find, as far as these cases go I really like the looks of the sahara case design and it is also available in H5.

Not so sure about the magnetic clasp though if its going to be activating the device. Not sure whether inward facing would resolve some of that.

Because of the magnet issue I have held up and will wait until there are more cases tested before getting anything fancy. And because I don't feel very secure with the phone in my pocket without protection, I went and grabbed a vertical slipper case from Best Buy for $9.99. It fits about perfect, and I can get the phone in and out without issue. Works for me for now, and at that price its about disposable.

Can anyone recommend/suggest a metal case like rhino-skin? The currently offer a limited selection for specific pda's.

Thanks, cbrwulf. I picked that slip case up yesterday. Working great.

I have a 6700 slip case that I tied to modify by making the elastic sides tighter, but this one has a better fit.

I ordered a Nushield screen protector. I have use InvisibleShield before and may get one to cover the whole device, if they end up making one. Their screen protectors are a little tricky to put on, however.

I still don't see why companies don't make a simple plastic cover for the front of the screen. Something to just cover the touchscreen and buttons, no clips. Just thin and make it so you can keep it covered and carry it in the pocket.

I am still waiting for a call back about getting one made, and doing a small run of them, but it might be too expensive. If I do get one made, I want to do it with a removable belt clip so I can easily just carry it with nothing, or have a belt clip. I will keep you all informed if I get something made.

I agree...I think that would be a great solution. Maybe with a track on the front of it so you could slide it onto a swivel clip.

Based on the reviews here, I'm going to forego VZW's plastic holster so count me in if you're able to get one custom made!

Pulled the trigger on this holster a few days ago, and had the chance to try it out all day today.

The Good
Fits like a glove! Seems to be a perfect, custom-fit holster! Easy to slip phone in and out of. Brown leather and stitching look pretty good. Holes in bottom and middle of holster make removal easy and fairly convenient.

The Bad
Leather seems pretty thin and maybe a little "cheaper" than something like a vaja (almost plastic like). Magnetic closure "could" present screen problems (after a day of use and having the phone face away from the magnet, I have not had any issues).

Overall I like it. I think I would prefer a plastic holster with the screen facing in, but I only use a holster during work -when I am in jeans I just pocket it. This holster definitely does the job and looks good!

Dynex Leather Pouch - Best Buy
I picked this up yesterday - fits good and you can't beat the price. Like you said, a cheap temporary fix. BTW - the brand is not Dynex anymore, it is called Init and the packaging is just a yellow cardboard backing. I guess this is a Best Buy brand that they changed.

Yes, thats what I got too, was the yellow packaged Init one, but thats all they list on there website, so I figured since I tossed the packaging already, at least I could get the word out on a quick cheap case! So far mine is workout out fine.

Ha, got it yesterday.

Back on topic, I'm temporarily using a generic vertical leather pouch that I bought from VZW shortly after I bought my i730 and signed up for the Merits program. The pouch was horrible for the i730 because it was tight up against the screen and the send/end buttons. However, I don't think I'll have those problems with the i760. Today will be my first real test with both the i760 and the pouch. I don't think the pouch will be a permanent solution, but I'm hoping it will be okay until someone makes a custom case or holster for it.
