SENA CASES :: SAMSUNG i760 MAGNETFLIPPER CASE

Had their case for the I730 and loved it. Pretty happy with this case as well. Initially, the magnet wouldn't keep the case closed well, but as the case has conformed to the phone, this has resolved. Magnet could definitely be stronger for this reason.

The other major issue is with not being able to sync the phone in case. The sync socket is blocked when the phone is in the case. This strikes me as being a poor choice, but putting two smaller pieces on each side of the socket was probably more expensive, and thus not done (which sucks for a $50 case).

Other than that though, it's a very nice case -- good clip, good ratchet, feels secure, camera lens is exposed for pictures, as are the buttons and stylus. I'm happy with it. Fits the extended battery like a glove, would probably fit the regular battery but there'd be a bit of laxity in the case (nothing like the I730, though).

I just bought the case from discountcell.com. I'm looking forward to it because the case I have from Verizon now is falling apart. It is just one of their universal cases and it worked great in the beginning, but now the clip is really lose, it's sewn to the case, and it is coming off. I paid over $20 for it and it's crap.

boxwave rubberized review

So, I've had my rubberized case from boxwave for a few weeks so I figured I'd let y'all know how it is...

First, boxwave was great about taking my original ActiveCase back and exchanging it for this rubberized one. Full refund, no restocking fee, very fast and friendly customer service.

That said, the case is not "fully rubber" as one user was asking, and no, it does not work with the extended battery (for that reason I am probably going to pick up the seidio version when it's available -- their site still says "coming soon").

Other than that, this thing is awesome. While not squidgy and rubbery like a silicone case, it is rubberized to the point where I think it would offer less transference of impact if dropped, and it definitely is more grippy than the smooth plastic activecase, so I'm less likely to drop it in the first place.

Buttons operate easily, the phone slides open unencumbered, and the clip holds your belt like a vice-grip. At first I didn't use the clip, but once I put it on for curiosity's sake, I kept it on -- I like to rotate the clip to the vertical position when I have the phone off my belt -- it protects the camera lens.

I still prefer the seidio system's "face-in" holster arrangement, but as the extended battery version and holster that fits a rubberized-cased i760 have yet to hit their website, I'll be sticking with the boxwave, at least for the near future.

I just bought the aluminum case. The i760 fits snug inside the neoprene lined case. So far I haven't found anything that I really hate about this case. But yes, when it's cold outside...so is your phone. One other thing that I noticed is that it acts like an RF shield. I loose about one bar of signal strength when the phone is in the case. Other than these two items, I think it is a good choice for the i760. Now I haven't had the courage to do the drop test with this case, but from the look and feel of it, I'd bet that the phone stands a better chance of surviving than in a "rubberized" case. Of course, this is only my opinion. ;o)

Thumbs down Boxwave Armor Case Design Defect

Well I wish I had read this a few days ago. I've d my Armor case about a month and it fell apart. apparently, both hinge pins fell out, geez.....
In order to get it replaced i have to send Boxwave a check for $3.95 and pay to ship it back to them. so this means I need to spend approximately $10.00 to get areplacement for a case ta cost $21.00 in the first place (24.95-15% )

Just not fair in my opinion. l told them would buy a different case from someone else and no longer do any business with them. I had only used the case about 5 times. Seems to be a design defect.

If I face it IN, the magnet in the case will turn-on & flip the screen. As I said my other Gobile case magnet was just the opposite, so I had to face it in.

It's not a huge deal, it just means the screen's a little more vulnerable facing out, if I bang the case against something.

In the end, the tight-clip is the only thing significanly better about the DiscountCell case, for me. So I hope mine won't loosen up like Speedlever's, but I suppose if it does, for $13 I'll just chuck it and get a new one!

Anyway thanks to you 2 for all the previous feedback about this case.
Based upon the several recommendations in this thread, I bought this case about 3 weeks ago because I was unhappy using a universal vertical pouch I had purchased from VZW when I bought my SCH-i730 (the vertical pouch was just too wide). In my 3 weeks or so of using the Discount Cell case, I agree with northbank; I have to have my screen facing away from the beltclip and toward the front of the case. If I keep the screen facing toward the back of the case (i.e., toward the beltclip), it activates the landscape screen.

It's ok for what I paid for it. I'm definitely liking the vertial pouch more than the horizontal one. I wasn't expecting the case to be shiny though, which makes it look a little cheap, IMO. The clip is a little loose on mine, it was tough to turn to begin with, but now it's loose.

Also, I have to have my phone's screen facing toward the belt clip, if the screen is facing out, it turns on and switches to landscape. I tried it several times because I wanted to make sure.

Try this.

Take holster off belt.
remove phone and open case with the flap folded back.
Slowly slide phone into case with screen facing out and it will turn the screen on becuse there is a magnet in the front of the case.

Now try this again but this time turn the screen facing in. The screen will not turn on.

Remeber that there is a magnet in the flap also so you have to hold the flap open when sliding the phone in with out scraping the LCD against the flapor it will turn on.

Mark, this might sound weird, but when I do as you suggest and slide the phone into the case with the screen facing out (away from the belt clip), the screen does NOT turn on. However, when I slide the phone into the case with the screen facing in (toward the belt clip), the screen DOES turn on, even with the flap folded back.

I used a paperclip to test for magnetism. Sure enough, both the plate at the front of the case and the plate in the flap are magnetic. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps it has something to do with the polarity of the magnets. Specifically, perhaps the polarity of the magnet in the plate in the front of my case is opposit of the polarity of the manget in your case. Just a theory....

Whatever the issue with the magnetism is, though, I love the case and greatly appreciate your recommendation of it. As you have mentioned many times before, you simply can't beat the price!

Jay, at least you have it working for you that's what matters.

I recently got the Aluminum case, similar to that offered on Boxwave. It is sold on EBAY as Monaco aluminum case. Appears Boxwave put their name on it. I don't like to carry my phone on my belt, but instead in a pocket. This case is perfect for that. It has a clear plastic cover that protects the screen. All the buttons are accessible while it is in the case, which allows you quick access to your phone. When you open the case the keyboard slides out without any problems.

The only downside is that I noticed that the pins in the hinges are loose, but was able to reposition them so they won't fall out. It also adds a little bulk to the phone, but not near that of a leather case.

Over all I am very pleased with it and the price ($20.00 including shipping on EBAY.)

i use the black passport series case from pocket solutions. i like it because its thin and fits right into my pocket since i don't like wearing it off my belt. it provides pretty good protection while being stylish. it also comes in many colors for those interested

I originally bought this one from ExtremePDA -- the price is right (9.99) and I liked that the arm that snapped it in was on the side, not the top.

Samsung i760 Heavy Duty Clip Holster: ExtremePDA

But after trying it, I cannot stand having the screen face out. I'm not worried about damage, but I think it looks dorky.

I've ordered the Seidio unskinned holster. We shall see.

dclaflin,

I had an aluminum case (silver) for my i730 and I loved it. I used it when working in the hard building stone walls and stuff.

This case looks great also. I like the black color.
However, I have learned to not invest a lot of money into accessories for my devices as I plan on moving on to something else within the next 10 months.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but I scanned this thread and searched the forum and didn't see it. People have discussed the "feature" that turns the phone on and off going out of and into the Samsung belt case, with the phone screen in, screen out, etc. My phone does it sometimes, either way. Does anyone know of a way in software (setting, registry change, etc.) to turn this action off completely? I'm happy with turning it on when I take it out.

just got the Seidio cases and the holster and so far the fit and feel are OUTSTANDING! The cases do add some thickness to the sides, but nothing that I won't be able to get use to. I have not tried it but I think the desktop cradle and my Dremel will have to meet for some elective surgery
While typying in landscape the directional pad feels somewhat cramped for a right press. The "qwerty" row of letters has a little less room than before, but I have yet to hit the call button like I frequently did in the past.
The cutouts on the sides are well laid out and are really good landmarks for hand placement.(the END button is more pronounced and less likely to be accidentally pressed during a call)
At this point the cases and holster are well worth the time spent waiting and wanting these items and the $$ too.

just my first thoughts,
Devon
