I think you missed my point. I am seeing a lot of users across a lot of threads expecting things to be like it would when a device is "officially" released. It's just not going to be that way, and some manufacturers don't even have the i760 on their radar, and requesting products from them doesn't always produce anything, and some manufacturers don't want to play their cards until it's officially out. In my post I hoped to just let those people know why they weren't seeing cases, and why they shouldn't expect to see stuff hitting the market any time soon for the i760.

I never said anything about not discussing cases...

Perhaps I should have started a new thread for the vaja case idea. -i didnt mean to hi-jack this thread.
This would be a custom case vaja said they would be willing to make at a minimum of 100 units. Vaja may or may not mass-produce cases for the i760, in their email they said the i730 was not "mainstream" enough for them to mass-produce cases. IMO, if we can get 100 or so people who want the same thing, why not order it sooner rather than later? I'm guessing we would need to prepay, which might be a little tricky, but if we get to 100, I'm sure we could figure something out!

Ethan told me that around 50-80 or so i760's made it out the door, so although this is a great idea, as I am a BIG fan of Vaja cases, we might wait until the official release and then do a (open) poll, and with over 100 people, we could then contact them based upon their vote... Just a thought.

I sent an email inquiring about a case for I760 & Q9m-here is the response:

We are not likely to offer a case for the Samsung device and the one for the Q9M is on the thoughts.

Yep, back to sticking mine in my pocket, and blowing off the lint every time I pull it out!

Seriously, I am sure there will be a few vendors that will offer something... a while after its finally released!

this is why we will probably need to go the customized rout! If we order 100, they will make it for us!

...if waiting until the general release is best, that's cool. I just thought even if people dont have it yet they know they will want a case, so I thought we should get the ball rollin'!?

Cased, or naked?

Will you use a case, or some other kind of protection?

Myself, I'm going to invisible shield mine up, and if Noreve (hopefully) makes an i760 case, I will be getting one of those. I have Noreve cases for other devices, and I must say, they are GREAT cases.

One question on the Vaja iVolution case: with the i760 in the holster (facing in or out), will the horizontal keyboard be able to open without taking it out of the case?

With no antenna on the phone, I'm not sure how easy it'll be to take out of a holster. I definitely don't want any kind of wrap case unless it has zero impact on slide, keyboard, and screen. I would want a separate screen protector, not one that is part of a case.

As for dropping it, heck, drop it on purpose, it's a Samsung. You should have seen what I had to do to break my i700 when I destroyed it. How many times have I dropped my i730? I can't count, but it took a flight of stairs with only a couple of dings.

But I don't treat my technology like a shrine. I don't even use a screen protector on my i730 any more and I pocket it.

So, are we asking in this thread about details on a case that hasn't been created for a phone that hasn't yet been released?

How do you carry these things in your pocket?

I'm very disheartened that they screwed up the belt clip design. One of my favorite aspects of the i730 was that I was able to use the belt clip case as a screen cover in my pocket -- I just Dremeled off the belt clip mount.

How how are you guys carring/going to carry your i760s in a pocket?

With a case that will make it thicker than the i730 was? And hard to pull out when you get a call?

Bare, so that the screen gets covered with pocket lint and isn't protected?

Some miraculous way that addresses those issues?

Why must smartphone manufacturers ignore the whole pocket issue? Makes me miss my Kyocera 7135...

Bare, with a screen protector for the first year, maybe longer if I get motivated to get replacement protectors.

You would lug your i730 AND the holster around in your pocket!? holy crap dude, that must have sucked! -right now i am just "going bare" when I am dressed "cas" and when I'm in a suit I use the samsung i730 leather case and wear it on my belt. -I've never been big on wearing my phone unless I am working, and even then only wearing it on my belt under my suit coat.

Vaja ivolution custom holster

So, would you guys that DO NOT have the phone yet be interested in ordering a custom vaja ivolution even though you don't have your phones yet? -If enough of you are "planning" on pulling the trigger on something like this, I will work up some specs and post a poll so we can get moving forward...

No, it was awesome, because I cut off the whole belt clip assemlbly. So the holster become a slim, snap-on protective cover for the screen.

I'd pay for something similar for the i760. I'd assumed I could just use the belt clip, but Samsung screwed that up by creating a belt clip that leaves the glass exposed to be smashed against the first thing you bump into...

I'm surprised more cases aren't coming out yet, as you can get a dummy phone pretty easily...

This is like a trip down memory lane... in reverse. When the i730 came out, everyone was upset because the belt clip forced you to have the phone facing in, and everyone was complaining because it was different than the i700. They were upset because they couldn't see the display. Now, with this clip, you have what folks complained about not having, and here we're complaining again. "Grass is always greener" symptom.
