A couple of cons:

1. It has clear plastic over the keyboard which greatly reduces the tactile feedback.
2. When an incoming call wakes up the phone it causes the buttons to unlock. Then when you press the case cover, the send/hang-up buttons get pressed causing the call to drop. I have to be VERY careful fishing the thing out of my pocket.

These were the two reasons why I never bothered with a case for the i730. Hopefully with the i760's recessed start/end keys, a pouch may be easier to use until there are better options available.

rofl......Tim you have a lot of time these days since you moved from a PPC to the "other OS device" phone.............
how come we never saw that before? does it come with a belt clip? if its in that case does the BT and Wi-Fi still work? How's evdo reception? Can you charge the i730 while "cradled" in that case? One thing for sure, it has some very good screen protection and case protection besides I am sure it can be "personalised till eternity". Is it water-proof? Do you have a "link" to the manufacturer that you can post?

The clip will slowwwwwwwly lower it onto your belt. While using that case, I think that you are limited to "undernet" hook up.

Well, now that a few of us have this phone, I figured I would see if anyone has found any good cases yet since nothing comes with it, and that VZW clip sucks!

How's about this winner?

YouTube - SAMSUNG SCH-i760 Horizontal Leather case

Complete front and back; slip cover for the keypad, that allows horizontal close& open; side pockets for microSD, business cards, credit cards, id's, and/or cash (folded of course).

Looks pretty good. I need something soon.

Okay, the fine folks at vaja emailed me back and said they have not determined if they are going to make a case or cases for the i760. However, they said if we could collectively decide on a particular style/model, and if we could get "commitments" for 100 or so units, they would create something for us!

I dont love the idea of a "case" as much as I like the idea of a leather "holster". I dont like having the device face out. The argument is having the device face out enables the device to be somewhat functional while in the case. My thoughts are that screen protection trumps functionality and personally, I dont like to use the phone while it's in the case. I'd like to see something like the ivolution case only with the device facing inward. -Something like a high-quality leather version of the plastic i730 holster. I like the swivel belt clip idea as well. Any takers? We only need 99 more on board!

Well I completely agree with the case idea, I to believe if the face of the phone is faced in I would definitely buy the product. The Samsung clip was a great idea except they for some reason did not want to protect the screen.

If this company can make a clip that faces inwards I will be in too..

98 more to go!!!!

I would also go for a Vaja case. They make quality products. I'm also fine with the unit facing in. This is trivial, but I'd like to see the placement of the Rivet Clip in the center of the case, so that the phone can sit on your belt vertically or horizontally. The placement on the case shown would not allow for horizontal positioning.

Incidentally I use the Rivet Clip system with my E815 now, and love it. I had messed around with lots of belt clips, etc, before settling on this system. I had to have a shoe repair place modify the Verizon leather case, to remove the plastic belt "knob", and insert the metal Rivet holder, but it works very well, and has held up for several years now. (The v710 was in the same case before the E815.)

So, if we can get the ivolution case, with at least an option for center placement of the Rivet hardware, I'm in.

Typically Vaja Cases are fully customizable. Once the "mold" is made, you can pick your color, choose belt clip or no clip, and even put your initials or company logo on it.

I should also mention that while they are the highest quality, these suckers are a bit pricey, a Vaja will go for around $55-$80.

I have a Vaja for my 700wx and will attest to the quality and good looks of their case.

You pay a little more for them, but the quality is second to none.

I would certainly consider a ivolution type holster case.

I would DEFINITELY buy an i760/Vaja case as I have had 2 for my Treo 700W/WX over the past couple of years.

I'd be in for one of those so long as the screen faced in.

Can we do a poll?

Just a thought - and obviously if I knew how to do this I would have done it already

but can we set up a poll so that people can vote. At least that would be an easy count for the folks at Vaja to see how much interest there is for this thing.

I for one would be VERY interested. I too prefer the 'rivet' ultra-clip setup that allows the phone to swivel horizontally or vertically and I would like the face to be covered at a minimum or face inward.

I will come back and vote if I see a poll option here.

Thanks for taking the time to pull this together!!

Jay

Before getting a hold of Vaja, you might wait until the actual release, since you know, it really isn't out. Due to the fact that a limited, and should I say, very limited number of i760's made it out the door, you won't see accessories for it for quite some time. Normally accessories, such as cases, don't show up for a month or two after the release of a device, as manufacturers wait to see what kind of response a device is going to have before they start producing items for it.

This thread jumped the gun to begin with, starting to talk about cases LONG before the i760 even came out, and now you all talk like the device is out there and needs to be supported by everyone. From what I was told by Ethan, less than 100 made it out the door, and he said it's probably closer to 50. In the grand scheme of things, this is less than their testing devices that were out there.

Be patient, and I realize you all want stuff for your devices, but you got them WAY early through a loophole, and you can't expect things to be resolved, especially by companies that still are waiting for an official release.

Nutshell makes great cases and f you give them the dimentions they will make whatever you need. Also Sena makes a very nice lateral pouch. If you look at the specks it works with most pda phones on the market with both stanard and extended batteries. I bet it will work with the 760 just fine, it does with the 730. For me I like a pouch stile case. They have a real metal belt clip or a belt loop and are very comfortable to wear. I have grown to dislike the custom fit flip top leather cases because of their cheap plastic swivel belt clip that is to thick and is always digging into my side. Plus they either interfer with the slide or the opperation of the keyboard.

I am fairly sure discussing case possibilities isn't going to hurt anyone... wow.
