Fortte now has a Samsung i760 case available. This is a high-end case. Real leather, multiple color options, personalized embossing, etc. Expect to pay top dollar. The case starts at $29.99. You can view the case at:
How can you have horizontal placement with the rivet clip? I have a Vaja case and with the rivet and clip and it's very loose allowing the phone to swivel 360 degrees.
Saw the link for the custom Fortte case a few posts back. Lots of options and nice color combos. Anyone have any experience with this line of cases in terms of leather look and feel, fit, softness/hardness to the leather, quality, etc?

The Rivet Clip will allow for a 360 degree swivel, but if the hardware is positioned in the exact center of the case, the phone should be able to rest horizontally. If the hardware is positioned as I have seen it on some of their cases, centered from side to side, but not centered vertically, there is no way the phone could "rest" in a horizontal position, as it would not be balanced.
What Vaja case are you using? Last I heard, they were not going to make one specifically for the i760. This came directly from Cecilia, the woman who responds to consumer inquiries.
The Fortte Leather PDA Case for Samsung SCH-i760 Vertical Pouch looks nice but im concerned with two things: 1) its got a magnetic closure which many ppl here have said causes the screen to go on, and 2) the bottom corners are exposed, leaving a greater likelihood of damage should the phone drop. has anyone bought this case yet that can offer something of a review? i do like that they offer it without the clip, since i am looking for something to protect the i760 while it is in my pocket...

I have the Fortte case for the Samsung i730. It was well made and they used high quality materials. The only complaint I had was that I purchased the case advertised to fit the phone with the extended life battery and it didn't fit it.
I got the OEM Samsung leather case and replaced the VZW PDAsdpch3 case. It fits a bit looser in the OEM case, but in some ways I like the way the VZW case is made better. But the PCH3 case fits a bit tighter than I like making it more of a struggle to free the phone when a call comes in. The OEM case also has a rotating clip that's handy too.
The OEM case magnets sometimes turn the screen on if I have it facing out in the OEM case. No big deal. Actually, that may be a feature in that it keeps me from having to hit the top button to turn on the screen. The screen does turn off in the case when the timer expires.
I find it most helpful to face the screen out else when I push the phone out from the bottom, I hit the volume button which silences the ring. OTOH, that may not be a bad thing either.
Well, I ordered the Fortte case. They had a really nice selection of colors and options. I got the brandy-black combo with the belt option. Only issue is it takes 3-4 weeks to get the case ..... so I will report back when it is received.
This case logic case fits the i760 very well. The sides aren't too wide, but they're loose enough that you can still get the phone out. Full protection on the bottom, but the corners are exposed on top. The magnetic latch doesn't grip quite as strong as it could because the i760's just a tad too tall for the flap to make it all the way down, but it's not really an issue. It holds well enough once the case loosens up a bit.
Belt clip rotates with moderately strong stop points at several angles. It's not the absolute best case I've ever seen, but it's pretty well made and it's the best fit I've found locally so far after looking at Verizon, Circuit City, Best Buy, Target, Office Depot, and Radio Shack.
I found mine at Office Depot, though one of the ones I stopped at didn't carry the line...they may have just started carrying them. You can also order it online from Case Logic.
That really would be idea, and it seems like there are small dimples on the sides in order to apply something like that. I suppose it'll take some time for there to be a decent range of cases available as the device is still in its infancy (and not terribly common).
I am getting the impression that most people on this forum like third party cases instead of the one that samsung sells. I understand the old i730 case from samsung was just ugly, but the i760 case I got from samsungs website actually looks and works pretty good. is there any true advantages to buying a 50 dollar case over the stock case for 17 dollars? better materials and construction?

Why not the Samsung case? Its a generic horizontal or vertical holster. I know I myself could not stand to use a holster since the phone is in my pocket all the time, therefore making it twice as difficult to actually get the phone out of both my pocket and the case. Ideally there would be alternate options, such as a hard case, or something that attached directly to the phone.
Build materials/quality and style would be the other side of the coin. Although in many cases, since the case didn't come with the phone, everyone has purchased whatever they can find, or used whatever well known case manufacturer to supply their need.
I have a generic horizontal holster case that fits well (with extended battery) and uses two magnets to hold the flap shut.
While this doesn't seem to keep the screen on (lit), it does fool the 760 into thinking the keyboard is extended. So when it rings and I pull the phone from the holster, the screen is in landscape. Then the phone figures out it's still in portrait, and Windows Mobile does one of its amazing "I'm real busy right now, doing something very important, so everything will be slow"
It usually repaints half the screen before pausing to take a dump, with two sets of softkeys displayed at once. It's okay, though, since the Answer softkey is on the left regardless.
Only by the time Windows recognizes the key, the caller has timed out.
Not true. I have two cases with magnets, the OEM Samsung case and the generic VZW pdapch3. Neither of those cases do as you described.
If I deliberately pass the external keypad near the magnets, I can force the screen to come on and/or orient in landscape mode. And I've had the OEM case make the screen come on when I pull it out of the case... with the screen facing out. Screen facing in does not do this.
Some case magnets are much worse than others in how they affect the i760.
I am brining up this page again becuse I think that the holster and leather case that I and others bought are GREAT! and the price and quality cant be beat!
