Partially answering my own question, I am now thinking the first case above does not allow any access to the keyboard, based on where the closure appears to be on this case versus the second one. Can any one confirm?
Also, on the first case it looks like the button at the top of the unit could be covered, which would pretty much make this case unusable. Again, anyone have thoughts on this, or actually have the case? Thanks.
Yeah... I know that I've already posted this as part of another thread (the one with the broken holster poll), but I figure that this isn't really a typical double post.
I wound up buying one of the Naztec leather(?) cases they had in-store. The case isn't shown on the Naztech site, but is black with a cream lining and a non-swivel belt clip; the Sahara model is the closest match in terms of form factor, and I'm pretty pleased with it so far. It was marked for $29.99, I think, but they said I was eligible for a discount, so I wound up paying $18.74(?). I haven't had any problems with the magnetic closure (I prefer to use the case with the screen facing in, anyway), and it fits the i760 almost as if it was designed for it. The VZW stock code for the "Universal PDA Carrying Puch" is PDASDPCH4.

Reason: Added pix
Don't laugh , but I dusted off my old Kyocera 6035 soft leather case and decided to drop in the i760, and sure enough it actually works in a pinch.
The frontside clear plastic overlay protects the majority of the keypad and d-pad, and the bottom cutout has a perfect hole for the charger cable. Of course, there's quite a bit of open space at the top of the case, but I can very easily modify the velcro flap to make it fit snug. The width of the case is also perfect and does not mess with the Send/End buttons. Top it all off with a 360 rotating quick-release belt clip on the back and it has most everything I'm looking for in a case, atm (except some extra padding).
BTW, don't let VzW sell you the Universal PDA Pouch (PDAPCHBRN1) / drop-in case (in background of pic). It is way too snug to fit the extended battery, and also too snug for the slim (pushes buttons, and magnet strap doesn't fully clasp). It does, however, have a nice leather belt clip that rotates.
Waiting for a rubber skin + holster combo (Seidio-style)...

VZW, It's 2009! Time to embrace technology, not suppress it. - oops too late I've moved on over to the iPhone w/ AT$T!
I ordered a Clearprotector skin late last week and I just got it in the mail today. I am planning on putting it on and taking some pictures of it tonite.
I just read on this thread that someone purchased the case direct from Samsung. I googled the SKU and ordered the same case from a yahoo shopping vendor. It's cheaper and the shipping isn't bad either. The case is 14.95 compared to Samsung at 17.99. It's 3.95 flat shipping if you don't order 50 bucks worth otherwise you can get free shipping. This site has much better pictures than Samsung and it looks to be a very nice case.
Okay ... I'll add my 2cents ... I work outdoors (pool builder) ... sooo ... I like a protective case that doesn't add bulk ... I've liked the Krusell clasics with the plastic cover over the front .. but like the I730 they don't usually make these for sliding keyboards ... so what I usually do is find a phone that has similar measurements and get one for that then modify it to work ...
Having had every pda phone verizon or sprint ever made ... I have a huge selection of cases laying arround ... believe it or not the Treo 700 series case fits really well ... the cutouts are wrong so I'm doing some sewing to fill holes ... and some cutting to add holes ... but it fits great ... not so tight that you can't get it out easy to cradle it ... but not so loose that it slides around in there ... also works with the big battery ... of course if you use the key board alot ... this case won't work for you ... I use this case only for when I'm in the field and the phone could get trashed .... when in the store ... I use an old pda2k horizontal case on my belt ... just thought I'd pass this info along if anyone needs protection without needing the keyboard ...
I've also ordered a classic krusel for the treo 750 ... less holes ... and a removable camera cover ... should work great ...

The site owner said I could post a 40% off code for the forum members. The code is DISCOUNT
The skin looks good and seems very similar to the bestskinsever skin I have on some other gadgets.
I just saw this exact thing on ebay today from the same company and was looking at it. It is cheaper on their site with the 40% discount and free shipping. Please let us know how it fits when you get it. I am very interested but I'm worried that it will make the phone slippery if that makes sense.
Alright, I just received the Naztech Bravo H5 in black, and I have to reinforce the previous negative reviews. The material is really cheap. The strong magnets also concern me; I would take them out and use velcro instead, but the Bravo's magnets seem to be 'melted' inside the fake leather.
Sigh, the search continues.
Can anyone recommend a horizontal belt pouch that either has no magnets or has removable magnets?
Just returned from Verizon retail on a separate issue and decided to test fit some cases. Someone had earlier mentioned a universal case #PDASDPCH4 as a decent fit. They did not have any "PCH4", but had a "PCH3" and "PCH5". Both are mag flap and fit extremely well. The "5" has an extremely small magnetic snap which would not catch or stay closed without extra effort, so no dice. I ended up purchasing the "3" which has the "hidden" magnet, fits well and has not produced the screen flip associated with various other cases. I am pleased.

I put this on last nite and the protector does not make the device slippery, it actually adds some cling to the phone. The fit is good overall though open nature of the front piece makes aligning difficult. I think I missed a perfect alignment and my ear pays for it with a scratchy bit of plastic on the top.
The skin adds a glossy appearance to the phone which I don't like. The finish looks almost like that of the LG chocolate flip phone. I also tried on the screen portion and it was small for the screen which made me decide to leave it off.
I am going to give it a week and see but I am not sure it is worth the look and scratching of my ear to have a scratch free device body. These skins seem to need some time to reach their finished look in my experience. I am still debating a screen protector and would love to have a clip on piece like the OEM 730 holster.
I got tired of waiting for the "just right" case...So I broke out the Dremel and cut down an extra i730 holster. It worked pretty good, but I did not get the design correct on this attempt. It did not handle the ext. battery but the standard battery "fit". The holster "spread" at the bottom where it was originally open.
On my next attempt I think the holster for the 700wx could be adapted to fit the i760.
I went to a Verizon store to inquire about cases/holsters and got a lot of blank looks. I know, I should have known better. A short drive brought me to a BestBuy where I just picked up a Body Glove Cellsuit. The phone fits great and is held secure by elastic, there is no magnet that can switch the screen to landscape. It'll do until something else comes along. Here's a link to the BodyGlove site (B O D Y G L O V E | 2 0 0 7)

I just received the same holster from Discountcell...
My i760 won't even go in it!!! The bottom just pops right out.. the bottom is too small to fit the bottom of the i760!!
Weird.. I wonder if they put the wrong one in the package?
The package writing and model number on the package all say the correct thing. Samsung i760 - FX1760R
I gotta call them also... just wanted to make sure others were abel to get their i760s into this thing.
