GPS setup in Google Maps is under Menu > Options > My Location Settings
I just set it up yesterday with a Freedom Mini GPS. I only played with it for a few minutes. While I could get it to zero in on my location by clicking "Menu > Show My Location" I couldn't get it to track my location in real time.
An issue for another day, I suppose. I prefer Windows Live Search anyway.
We have two i760s and Freedom GPSs in the office. I installed the Freedom on the first one with no issues whatsoever. The second one gave me FITS! No matter what I did Windows Live Search would hang at "Getting GPS location" and ultimately time out. I finally got it working with Google Maps, then when I went back to WLS it worked.
F R U S T R A T E D! I have been trying to get this set up all day. I've tried everything in this thread and still no luck.
OK - so starting over, here are the steps I have taken....
- Added device in Bluetooth
- Left ActiveSync UNCHECKed
- Added COM PORT 6
Went into External GPS
- Changed PROGRAM PORT to COM 6
- Left Hardware at NONE
Went into LIVE and set it to COM6
Got error saying could not work with GPS device...
R E S O L U T I O N
Well, many hours of frustration and I finally got it. First, I uninstalled MSLIVE and reinstalled it. Then changed my settings to the following:
Here are my settings-
UNDER BLUETOOTH SETTINGS
- I discovered the device
- Checked ActiveSync
- Chose COM 6 in com ports
UNDER GPS EXTERNAL
- Chose COM3 in Programs
- Chose COM6 at 57600 baud in HARDWARE
IN LIVE APPLICATION SETTINGS
- Chose COM6
TADA - those are the settings that worked for me.

I ordered the Freedom Keychain GPS 2000 a couple of days ago and received an e-mail today letting me know it will be shipped next week. $89 w/ no shipping charges!
I just ordered one of the version 2 models. I have an older GPS with the SiRFStar III chipset and it is awesome pulling in a signal... even inside a room with no windows. I hope the MTK chipset is equal to that.
But the old GPS won't fit on a keychain like ver 1 and ver 2 will. I see no reason why you would not be happy with ver 1 either. I suspect performance will be about the same. Thought I'd try the MTK version and see how it performs.

How did you get this price? Im getting $99.00 + ship when I put it in my cart.
Any clue when it will come out?? I just got the "old version". Stinks! Will probably send it back and wait.
I'm the technical manager for Freedom Input so if you are having problems please let me know. The previous version is still being made and sold and there are no issues with it so you shouldn't be having any problems.

We do have a special offer for members of this forum and for one other forum until Christmas. Unfortunately we can not post the details on this forum though due to the rules about advertising/selling on the forums.
There should be a review of the new unit coming soon and we will hopefully be able to give you the offer on the tail end of that.
