Hey guys! I just got off the phone with a very helpful level 3 Samsung Tech and he gave me indirect input from someone from Washington DC who called them and left a very good review of the SGH-i760 they own and use. While there were others who called in about it as well, this particular person left a nice review, and I thank God that because I JUSTbugged this poor tech for so long I have something new I can share with you !
While I obviously couldn't get the persons email address so as to ask him all my questions directly, I did get some good bits of info that I think will be sufficient to know whether to buy this or not. After hearing what this guy said I'm very much looking forward to getting one of my own!..my birthday kinda just passed (February 7th) so maybe Samsung can send me a testing model as a gift for all the promoting I'm doing for their device?...Cough..hint hint..Samsung. I think I am the ONLY one online that has all the most recent updated and detailed information listed about this device where almost ALL of the other places list info about it from last year.
MINI SGH-i760 REVIEW: 10 out of 10!
For one thing the man who owns one said he was ecstatic as a business owner to use this phone though he was just as excited to use it in his own personal time! Actually the word that he used in the review was that it was just "flawless"!
He confirmed that he was very excited to know he could use it all around the country and was able to switch SIM Cards out on the fly with no problems. He said that he used NOT JUST T-Mobile but ALSO AT&T without ANY problems in calling OR in data usage!

So the question as to whether it would work in the US as a tri band phone or not should be answered, as well as the questions we had as to whether the data usage would even be functional here. According to this very excited SGH-i760 owner, both the phone AND data functions worked flawlessly in the United States! I guess the reports which tell us that AT&T has caught up to and at certain points surpassed Verizon are true..along with T-Mobile apparently stepping up their game as well.
While he did confirm it had WM5, the man DID also say that the phone had very good call quality and bluetooth capabilities, which leads me to believe the varying threads listing it as having AKU 3/3.3 (which seems to essentially be WM6 but without the themes, bloatware, and lag) may in fact be true.
So while this isn't a nice Cnet video (nudge cnet for a SGH-i760 review please..?) that actually shows you the device while telling you some of these details about it, we at least now have a confirmation on not just the fact that this device is something you can purchase, but we also have confirmation from someone who owns it that says it's a fantastic, even "flawless", device for business and personal use! If you want to break free from the Verizon strangle hold this seems like the best way to go for a device that is slim, has a newer
520 mhz Processor, WM6/
WM5 upgraded AKU 3,
full one handed qwerty keyboard use,
3G speed internet/data (hsdpa),
upgraded camera, a
VGA front facing webcam,
Infrared for data transfer and remote control so you can still change your/someone else's TV channels, WIFI, Bluetooth, with the same i730 like
sturdiness,
beautiful design, and the
sleek black look that makes you raise an eyebrow for
(Bold representing what the SCH-i760 doesn't have).
UPDATED INFORMATION ON THE NEXT SCH/SGH i760 DEVICE!
One last thing the rep told me was that they are not only planning on upgrading the SCH-i760 but will at around that time also upgrade the SGH-i760...the update is NOT just including software updates but also
hardware updates as well! He mentioned that the SCH will not just have most of the annoying things fixed via a WM6.1 BUT they are also looking to provide another version of the SCH-i760 (kinda like they did with the i730 and then i830).
To make it clear...if you always wanted a dream device NOW is the time to call Samsung to leave them positive feedback on how you want the SCH/SGH-i760 to be! The number is 888-987-4357 (press 1,4,4 I believe to get to a sales/tech rep).
I personally let him know that JUST like people say in the SGH-i760 reviews online, and even in the SCH-i760 and other
PDAPhoneHome threads that if the SGH-i760 came out in a quadband with WM6/6.1/WM7, the two upgraded cameras (1 webcam 1 for photos), higher memory capacity, a faster
Processor, better battery life, WIFI/REV A or B, as well as very stable+loud phone capabillities (speakerphone as well), etc basically the SGH-i760 specs but updated (possibly internal built in GPS receiver as well), that would be the perfect device! Wouldn't it be wonderful to get a stable device as in how stable, reliable, and functional a Symbol device is.. or at least close to it
The phone that is shown in the previous page along with the demo for the PPC Projector was possibly a newer pre release version of the updated SCH/SGH i760 (which actually looks like a cross between the two devices), but keep in mind that your input can very well shape how Samsung/Verizon will produce the next phone! While I would like nothing more than to be able to get away from the ever over priced Verizon, if they actually get into competition mode with the
iPhone and the pressure increasing from the upcoming Google Phone and would come out with a global SGH/SCH i760 WITH the same form factor of the SGH i760 but with updated specs, they will actually give me a VERY good reason to stay with them. At least for now, between the choice of the SCH-i760 and the one handed USA FULLY FUNCTIONAL 3G dream called SGH-i760 I will definitely be wanting to go with the latter. No matter how you feel about either or any devices in particular please do call Samsungs tech department and leave them feedback on how you want the next SCH/SGH i760 to be, look, and perform in terms of specs and design.
PS: If you want a horizontal keyboard don't call..don't you have enough devices to choose from as it is?

Jk I keed I keed
