The Kraiser seems like a beast of a phone, no doubt in my mind I would get it, but as the age old struggle (at least for me) its not on verizon. With that being said, I think the i760 will be a nice upgrade to the i730, I am content with my i730 as is but ive had it for 2 years now. As long as the i760 keeps all of the features of the i730 and adds more on top i'm happy!
HTC does have to make anythig sturdy because of the design of the phone. It would be nice and one would think, but one would think that call quality would be of utmost iomportance and it doesn't seem to be. Past cannot always determine future, but for me to go to an HTC device, I will need to see some really change in the build/functionality quality of their devices. To leave cdma for a GSM HTC device, if it had a screen that could either be 3" or expand out to a small notebook screen...then maybe, a slight maybe. Just my own opinion from my own research.

After monitoring this thread ever since May........... I'm officially done!
I've been with Verizon for a long time now, and they've always been above par (reception wise), but in NO WAY "perfect" as many in this thread "might" claim. I've had my share of dropped calls and when it's bad you can't even dial out - as it "attempts" to dial with a "blank" response (meaning the minutes are being charged, but no response...... just emptiness ). Compared to other cellular companies, reception is only "slightly" better if not the same these days.. As other companies are getting better in my the area (Southern California) I don't see any reason to stay loyal to "the network". On top of that, I've heard from my AT&T rep, 3G is expanding and by next month (August) they'll be well equip to support my domain with it.
Adding insult to injury, the i760 hasn't even arrived and it's already out of date. By the time this dinosaur gets here, it'll be stuck in the stone age!!
I've been comparing the i760 to the HTC Kaiser since the most appealing upcoming VZW phone is the i760, but by a long shot it (i760) loses horribly. The list is simply toooooo long to list, but in short: Kaiser has faster benchmark processing, double it's ROM & RAM, GPS, tilting screen, thinner, 3MP camera w/ auto focus, USB 2.0, etc... Adding to that AT&T voice+data plans are also cheaper & better than VZW's.
So, for me there's just far too many negatives to get stuck with VZW & the i760 for just slightly better "network" coverage. PEACE!
I've been holding out for the i760, as I really like the numeric keypad on the front. I've been concerned it won't work as well in both hands though. Regardless, one of my issues is the need for a phone without a camera. All Verizon has never offered a Windows Mobile Smartphone without one.
I was thinking about switching th a GSM-based network, due to the ease of switching phones by swapping SIM cards, but the latest buzz is that AT&T will offer the cameraless version of the Kaiser.
I'm still concerned about switching networks, as 3G is not planned for my area by AT&T until November, and my last experience with AT&T was horrible (though that was the old TDMA network).
Anyone have a sense of the AT&T network in Colorado?
Anyone have a sense of the AT&T network in Colorado?
I recently had to switch one of my users off Verizon and onto AT&T because he could not get reception @ his home in Evergreen. If AT&T is using 850 MHz in these areas, it will perform better than Verizon and Sprint since lower frequencies tend to handle hilly areas better.
Now that one can get the HTC Kaiser unlocked and now that a few have the i760, I was wondering in anyone who HAS ACTUALLY HELD BOTH DEVICES, could comment on the "look, feel, handle" test? I know that we are talking cdma vs. gsm and verizon vs. att/t-mobile/rest of the world, but just from a hardware perspective, anyone have first-hand real comparsion info?
I have a good friend who is a leader in mobile technology in NYC. He is one of the most knowledgeable people I know regarding networks but is in love with RIM which is his biggest downfall in my opinion. I picked his brain on this exact topic last week after playing on the following site: HTC (Check out e-learning).
Q: What are the big differences between VZW and ATTW for a simple Joe like me? I have been waiting for the Samsung SCH-i760 but VZW is so slow that it is going to be ancient before they ever release it. ATTW is releasing the HTC 8925 which runs Windows Mobile 6 (good for my medical stuff) and can support Blackberry connect (good because it is the only way I can connect to my work outlook). I just keep hearing so many awful things about ATT's network compared to VZW. Any thoughts?
R: Actually AT&T's network is faster than Verizon’s. The issue is that the network is their high speed network is not as widely deployed. But it will be the 1st qtr of next year. I wouldn't count on being able to connect the HTC to your work blackberry system. The HTC has some security issues that likely will likely preclude the army from allowing it to be allowed on the system.
If you must have the medical apps I would recommend the HTC or some of the other Pocket PC's from AT&T. I think the HTC is overpriced- the blackjack II and the Q will be released for AT&T soon too. If you're not tied to Pocket PC I would recommend a blackberry- either Verizon or AT&T's 8800 series or the curve.
BTW Blackberry announces earning on Thursday. The stock has doubled since it last announced earnings.....
So there you have it. I am considering the jump to ATT even though my wife is tied to VZW (Last year I convinced her entire family to switch to Verizon... ... ooops!)
