I tried the sdhc.zip on my new Samsung i760 with a Sandisk 6GB and the settings->system->memory->storage card shows Total storage card memory: 1726.50 MB. It seems to recognize the card and I can move files on an off of it. Has anyone else tried the 6GB card and gotten windows to see all 6GB yet?
Hi WV,
I see this is your 1st post in this forum so let me be the one to help you...
Your request is covered at length in this very thread. I'm not always the best at this myself, so I speak as one who has been routinely cautioned to do your very best not repeat questions and queries which are already available for review. Take some time and browse around the forum. Try using the search engine that can take you to any topic. Search as best you can before you ask. That way the forum doesn't become overrun with so much material that it becomes nearly impossible to ever find what your looking for.
Scroll down a couple of posts in this thread and you'll easily see your answer posted about a dozen times.
I have tried numerous times to install the 4GB patch on my I760 with no luck. I have downloaded the zip file and unzipped it on my PC. I then copied the _setup.xml file and the three other unzipped files to my I730. I ran the _setup.xml file it ran a small file and then I did a soft reset.
Whoops, you went too far there. Copy the CAB file over to the phone and run the CAB right on the phone. If the file you have is called sdhc.zip and it just has the xml file and some 001 002 003 files in it, rename the zip to sdhc.cab and copy it over and run it.
Just to make clear you copied the unzipped cab file to the phone, ran the cab to install then rebooted?
Yes, I also removed the other software patch that allows 1.7GB to be seen. I noticed afterwords what Nemanracing had already noticed even a 1GB microSD card was not being read. So it must be blocking the card slot in the software somehow.. It would be great to be able to use 6GB and 8GB MicroSD cards wouldn't it!.. I wonder how far of that patch is..

Oh I see. I am not sure that it is a hardware issue though. My 8525 before the new builds of WM6 came out did not have SDHC compatibility. I have read that MS made a driver update for SDHC which leads to me to think that it is quite fixable.
I assume the patches don't work because the microcontroller for the flash reader is different then the one HTC uses in theirs. The i760 has been in testing for a long time at Verizon and the WM6 build that is on your phones is older then what HTC using in the Hermes/Tytn/8525. Maybe someone can post something on the WM developers blog to see if someone there might be able to help.

that makes sense. I just got my sandisk 6g card and its recognized by my Tilt, but not by the i760 (no hack installed). Seems like Samsung/Microsoft owe us a proper driver update.

I tried to install the 2.16 (newest wm 6 version, excluding the 6.1 beta) sdhc driver from the htc mogul, but that didn't work. The reader wouldn't read anything.
I was wondering if anyone had access to a blackjack. As it is also made by samsung, it could possibly have the same card reader. This is all assuming that the blackjack supports sdhc.
Anyone have dev samples of the Blackjack 2 or other new samsung microsd phones?
I installed the HCSD patch and it worked fine for 2 weeks.
I just updated my Library and sync'ed it to my MicroSD card and now nothing shows up. Only the folders for the artists appear, with no album folders within.
There is 1.19 GB of music. The rest of the card only contains about 22 MB of data.
Ok, installed the sdhc hack, now my Sandisk 6GBmicrosdhc card shows:
Total storage card memory:1726.50 MB
This is a dealbreaker. Any updates from Samsung? As much as I like the build quality and form factor, I've got a week left on my 30 days before I decide to pull the trigger and send it back.

I dont want to offend or anything, but I find it kind of funny that a 6GB card not working in your i760 is a deal breaker. Information about this exact thing has been floating around on this site for over a month.
It is also a dealbreaker for me. Not because of the two gigabytes that I loose (having to buy a four gig chip versus a six) but the knowledge that, in six months time, I will not be able to upgrade the storage.
It is a sign of the age of the device and Samsung's inability to update it.
No offence ment, just a statement from a critical customer.
anyone get the adata 4gb micro sd to work for the i760? they're on sale right now... thanks!
I ran the update with the 4GB card in the device and it works fine now. The first time the card was not in the device and it did not work. I believe the card needs to be installed for it to work correctly. Dont ask me why?

I'm not going to lie, if I knew I was going to be stuck at 2 gigs, I probably wouldn't have gotten this phone. 4 gigs was enough for me to try it out, and I love it so kept it...but any less and I don't think I would've. Especially since, like you said, SDHC cards are not cutting edge. The i760 should in all rights, have micro sdhc functionality. The technology has been around long enough that something should have been done to take advantage of it.
I ordered the Sandisk 2GB Micro Card online for 21 with shipping and it is all the memory I will need. I already loaded my MP3s, photos I take around, some audio books, etc. and I still have 1.2GB free.
However, I think it would be nifty if they would built multiple Micro SD Card slots into the devices. It would be nice to have 4 slots so at this point you could add 16GB of memory for 80 bucks or less (4 2gb cards).
I still have a 4 gig ipod with 2.2 gig free. I change my music at least twice a week. I have tracks from the 60s to Tuesday.
There's a difference between wanting to have 6 gig because you can't fit what you need on 4 and wanting 6 gig because it exists and you have to have it.
Also, you're not dealing with HTC here. The first update to the i760 will likely be between 6-9 months after release. If your needs are more urgent, you own the wrong phone.
Well, just to update on the status of my SanDisk 6GB card with SDHC.zip hack. Still no luck in getting it above 1.7gb. I have searched through numerous other forums and have tried many tricks (one trick had me using SKTools to reformat the card). No luck, it really does look like we will just have to wait for the patch from MS/Samsung.
The good news is, the XV6800 and SMT5800 say they will support up to 8GB of memory. Hopefully we could see if one of those drivers can be used **cough** D A V E **cough**
I'm ordering my card today. There are scattered reports in this forum about the 4gb card being temperamental. Is this the case for everybody or are some of them working perfectly. If I don't want to hassle with it beyond installing the CAB file, would I just be better off just getting the 2gb card? If so, does it matter which 2gb card I get? I don't see a 2BG micro SDHC... thanks!
