Thanks for your help.
You don't just paste the CAB file, you need to RUN the cab file on the phone. CAB files are installers that install software on WM devices. Copy the file to any place on the phone and then run it...

Will it work with the 6GB microSD card from ScanDisk? Ok confirm as well that the 6GB microSCHC card only gives 1.7GB. Well, its better than nothing. I looked on the scan disk website as well and it basically was junk. Sorry guys, I googled it most of this evening and it still came up empty. I guess its wait for the firmware upgrade.

Increasing 4GB limit

Everyone agrees that 4gb is a frusterating limit. I was wondering who made the current hack that we have, and what means people are exploring to increase the limit.

Lets stop the incessent chatter about "4gb works" and "I purchased 6 gigs. Will it work?" Lets get to making this phone better.

Mrailing, Mark_A_K, can you guide this thread to something productive? Is there a better forum to post this (similar to XDA Developers) where people who write hacks congregate?

remnant, I agree that there have been a lot of asking and re-asking the same issues. However, this always happens when a new device comes out and there are a lot of new members on this list because of this.

You will see in about a week that the posts will slow down and Michael Will be publishing his guides and stickies.

You could always post your hack requests at XDA Developers and let us know how you make out. Also SupperDave should be getting his device soon.

Hang in there!

Mark

There was another post in a thread about someone having issues with their memory card, and I've experienced some of the same issue (thread was closed and original post was pointed to this thread, but it looks like they have yet to post here). My memory card reader will not read my card (plugged into the adapter) which makes for transferring ripped down movies a bit of a lengthy process (still works, just takes ages). Have anyone else experienced this? Its been a great memory card reader up until this point. It almost seems like there are goofy usb issues when removing one device and plugging in another one to the same port.

I too am having the SanDisk 6GB problem. I install SDHC.cab hack and it only gives me 1.7GB. I really would at least like to get it up to 4GB until we get a software upgrade. Any links on "how-to" would be appreciated.

The hack is to get 4 from a 4 card, not 4 from a 6.

hi - i'm new to the world of WM and hard resets so please excuse my newbie question. I've installed the SDHC hack and am running a 4GB card fine. If I backup my data to the SDHC card, how would I access it after a hard reset as I assume the hack would not work after a hard reset?

Would I just transfer the hack back via Active Sync? My concern there would be that Active Sync would try and sync everything again, when I'd rather just restore from the card.

I saw in another post that mrailing said if he was out, and wanted to hard reset and immediately restore some data, he would access it from the card. I wonder if he has a SDHC card.

Sorry if this post should be in the backup/restore thread instead.

thanks!

If you connect and sync via activesync, instead of setting up a new partnership, choose GUEST, or hit cancel when it asks about the partnership. At that point you can browse the phone without actually syncing. I do this on my laptop all the time....

Interesting...I am currently using a modified WM6 rom for my 8525 that works with the sandisk 6GB microSDHC card. I wonder what driver file the ROM cooks are using in their ROM images that they include. I suggest that people poke around forums.xda-developers.com and see if they can find the another cab file. I am currently using vp3's 3.62 ROM so I would start there. I just downloaded the AT&T official ROM so I will try that and see if HTC is including the drivers in there.

Ok I did some sleuthing. Is this the file you guys were using?
SDHC.777.cab.zip

If not I would try this cab. Here is the thread that I found it in:
xda-developers - View Single Post - Sandisk 6GB Micro SDHC Shipping!

Which referred to this thread on PPCGeeks.com:
Micro SD Storage Card - Page 3 - PPCGeeks

In case you don't want to read the thread this worked for someone who used a Sprint Mogul that did not have any luck before that. If the older driver worked for the 4GB, I fell comfortable saything that this new one should work for the 6GB.

I would also strongly suggest more of you to get acquainted with what's going on in WM6 over at xda-developers.com and ppcgeeks.com and others sites. Many of their hacks/addons/mods will work on any WM6 Pro phone. With just a few people bringing back information from other places it will help out a lot of people.

I think you need to get a new memory card reader that reads sdhc cards. mine was great as well but it doesnt recognize high capacity cards.

What is the rom revison on the i760? I forgot which part is the AKU #. This is the rom the official AT&T 8525 revision is using 3.62.502.3 Cant remember if that is what correlates the WM6 revisions. The official WM6 rom for the 8525 does have the newer drivers as it saw my card without a problem. It must have been added in a later AKU by MS then the one that comes on the i760.
