FAT32 is only a file system, doesn't matter if a card is HC or not. I have a 2GB card formatted as FAT32, and on a PC I could format it to NTFS or something else as well...

More questions

I have the Adata 4GB MIcroSDHC, when I inserted the card, it was read immediately without being formated, size OK.

Should I have formattted the card with FAT32?

I did notice when using the SD adapter card, I cannot read the Micro in my current lexar card reader. Is that normal?

I have a 5MG WMP file on the storage card, when playing it stutters. It is a transfer rate problem or a WMP problem?

Thanks in advance to all who make this forum what it is,

I got my SCH-i760 fairly recently and found this thread about using a hack for a 4GB microSDHC, my apologies if I'm way too far behind, but I really need help with this, I tried my best to follow the instructions on how to install it, but the phone won't even read the card for me to install the cab file into it. It won't work through active sync, I even tried to put it in the card directly from a laptop then placed it in the phone---still wouldn't work. Anything that would help me resolve this would be appreciated.....

Hmm ok. I thought that the 2GD and under cards were FAT16 and 4GB could be FAT16 if non SDHC and FAT32 as SDHC but I guess not.

All you do is copy and paste the cab to either your SD Card or Safestore in the i760 (either via ActiveSync or directly on to the SD Card via your Laptop/PC and/or Card Reader), click on it, install to Device, then restart and it should work. If it doesn't format it in a card reader attached to your Laptop/PC or its memory card reader then try to see if it reads again. Maybe you didn't restart the i760?

Shouldn't be any harm in formatting it to FAT32. It could be the transfer rate of the card or the formatting possibly. You can always reformat it back to FAT16 if thats what it is now. I found that when I formatted by NON Micro SDHC Card I couldnt get the same size until I tried different SDHC Hacks. So there's always that option for you too just in case things dont go the way you would like them to.

Copy the hack to the main memory of the i760 via ActiveSync. Run it, restart, then pop in the card. It should work fine. If it doesn't, then the card might be bad. Get a SDHC card reader for your laptop and test it out.

WM Media Player errors

Hello folks,
I did the cab file hack fine and the 4gb card reads well in my i760, BUT...
when using the Windows Media Player the shuffle does not work well. It might shuffle a little, then it hangs up and switches back to main memory on the phone. Does anyone else experience issues playing MP3's?

Thumbs up Adata 4GB Micro SDHC Turbo - Working fine

Hello all - this is my first post here ever. So its probably gonna be long.

I started reading up on the i760 and storage cards as soon as I got the new-ish Samsung PPCphone from Verizon. I was kinda afwaid that I made the wrong choice in phone after reading through all this. But I really like how the i760 is put together so I was willing to give it a whirl. I was suprized by the lack of problems that I had. Anyway, here's what I have installed and done to the phone. I hope it helps someone else out there who likes this phone as well.

I got an Adata 4Gb micro SDHC Turbo from newegg for about $30. I have no idea what "Turbo" or "Class Six" means, but I wanted to get the fastest card I could find so those things sounded good.

When the card fianlly came, bit slow on the shipping, I began to work on my new toy. First I did a hard reset on the i760 (mostly because one of the first stickies in this forum says to) I didn't want to do the hard reset cause I had already purchased and installed a bunch of different apps for the phone. But I did it anyways. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. After the reset I installed the SDHC.cab fix. Then the card was recognized. Then I began re-installing all the apps that I already had or bought for this phone specifically. Some were left from my MotoQ which suprisingly worked well on the i760.

List (stuff works well):
- Spb Plus
- Spb Mobile Shell
- Spb Backup
- Pocket Mechanic pro
- PHM Registry Explorer (free)
- CorePlayer (used from old MotoQ)
- IM+ (upgraded to the PPC edition)
- LiveSearch (free, MS I know, but it works well to see traffic)
- Google Gears Mobile

Games (that work/display correctly no matter what):
- Spb Brain Evolution
- ATH No Limit Texas Hold em (from old MotoQ)
- Gem Box Gems
(haven't had a chance to give emaulators a whirl want to get a NES emu up on there)

These are the apps that I didn't reinstall (cause they kinda sucked)
- Spb Clone (kept on crashing my phone when I tried to use it, $200 down the crapper)
- Spb Diary (took up alot of memory and was really redundant)
- Spb Phone Suite (redundant with mobile shell and Spb Plus)
- Google Maps (free)(traffic info was less than stellar)
- Spb Tips and Tricks (not really much to learn from it, plus all 40 tweaks provided can be done via PHM reg editor)

Everything works great! I can take pix and flix and auto save to the card no problem. I can play movies and music straight off the card with no problem. You may have noticed that I do tend to stay away from MS apps on pretty much any device, so I use CorePlayer, I haven't even started MSMediaPlayer. I had CorePlayer on my MotoQ (smartphone WM5 not a PPC) and I just uninstalled it from the Q and installed it in the i760. Even though its the smartphone edition it works fine on the i760.

Just wanted to let peeps know that somebody was enjoying their i760 AND their SDHC storage.

Of course, I have no problem with spending extra cash to avoid MS apps. I also don't care if I have to edit the registry (did alot of that on the Q). This may be the reason why I enjoy my i760 so much. Or is it the Adata 4Gb Micro SDHC Turbo? Without the card I wouldn't be able to store much music or anything.

I'll let you all know which NES emulator I settle on and what settings worked for me, and of course how playing a rom off of the SDHC memory works.

Peace

Does your i760 "see" all 8 Gb? What happens if you add a new file? Does it tell you it's full?

This is the original one nemanracer posted..it works on the i760 and i730 but the TREO I believe is what can use 8GBs..as with the HTC Devices..NOT the i760 or i730s.. Anyone can feel free to try it but look at the date of the post at the Treo site to see its old news..

that's what's got ME wondering. That statement sounds like it's working on an i760. No?

Bit the bullet. Got an A-Data 8G MicroSDHC. No dice.

I've restored with SPB Backup countless times, so if anyone has a new SDHC.cab they want me to try, hook me up.

My indication that it does not work with this one is simple: in the memory control panel applet, the storage card still registers 4G.

Tell me what to test and I will.

I just got the phone and I'd like to recap this issue:
2GB cards works no problem
4GB cards can be hacked to work.
Nothing higher, even with the hack works?

Can this be fixed with either firmware or WinMo 6.1 updates?

Considering that the SDHC standard is suppose to be good up to 32GB, this is very disappointing,

Mark
