Ther is a microsoft fix for the inability to detect/read 4gb in notebook...do a search I cant recall the details but i used it.
Thanks for the heads up. I will try and do a search but I think Microsoft has stopped supporting Windows XP now because of their new release of Shista.
Not to get too off topic, but I'm not sure why you say that...Microsoft hasn't stopped supporting XP yet. Everything I have seen says it will be supported into at least 2009. If it gets the same length of support as Win 98/ME/XP SP1 did, then we'll have into 2010. There's even a Service Pack 3 for XP scheduled for the first half of 2008 currently.
Even if MS has stopped supporting XP SP2, they don't remove all of the fixes from the face of the internet...if there was some fix for this before, it still exists even after end of service. End of service just means they won't be focusing on and creating new fixes anymore for it.

Actually there's only one SDHC Card that works without the SDHC Hack that I or most know about and thats the Adata 4GB one. Anything else SDHC requires the hack.

Stop the Press...OK let me get this straight...are you saying that I can buy an Adata 4GB SDHC card and it will work on my Sansung i760 without using the HACK? Can someone confirm this?

If you would try searching this thread for "Adata", you would have the answer to your question.

Sometimes people talk about Micro SDHC others talk about SDHC Cards in general. I was referring to SDHC Cards in general that the only NON 4GB Micro SDHC Card I knew of that worked without a hack was the one many bought from Adata, for the i730s SD Card reader NOT for the i760 which takes MICRO SD Cards. Sorry I probably wasn't as clear as I should have been.

Well the reason why I asked the question was because I have been following "this" thread and several other sites for the past several months and never before saw a posting that confirmed use of a 4 GB sdhc card without the hack. After I saw the post I rechecked and still saw no confirmation so based on the statement made about "others" knowing that the Adata was capable of working without the hack I figured I would check to see if someone knew for sure thinking I ,ight havemissed something. I re-checked again after your suggestion that I search and still saw nothing new. In the future I suppose I will preface my question with "I have already done a search/research".
With that said, can someone confirm or is it inaccurate information that the Adata 4GB sdhc card can be used and store 4GB without the hack?

I was only speaking for the 4GB NON Micro SDHC Card I use with my i730 NOT speaking about the 4GB Micro SDHC card. For the 4GB Micro SDHC one you definitely need a hack.

So to be clear, the Adata 4GB SDHC card works in your i730. But, the Adata 4GB MicroSDHC card does not work in the i760 w/o the cab file.

Precisely correct. Its the weird anomaly I or many know of in relationship between the SCH-i7*0 devices their SDHC cards be they Micro or Non Micro and the SDHC Hack.
The ONLY other weird anomaly I know of is in terms of fastmemorymans 8GB SDHC non MicroSD Card being able to read 5GBs with the SDHC Hack in the i730 rather than how it usually makes only 1-4GBs usable in their 6-8GB SDHC Cards. Cool but weird..both anomalies ONLY seem to occur in a particular card make/brand.
Hey Dom: I just got my i730 out (just gathering dust for now) and looked at my SD card. It's a 4G AData SD card (i.e., NOT an HC card). The SD card does say 'Turbo' on it (which refers to the transfer speed - 150x).
So to my question: Are you sure you are using an AData 4G SD 'HC' card? Just asking.
The i730 seems, to me, a little early to have a native HC capacity in it. Now, assuming you are, in fact, using a 4G Adata SD HC card, maybe, even though it says SD HC (assuming your does), I wonder if your card actually runs in SD non-HC mode when it recognizes there's no hardware / firmware support for HC mode. Although I don't even know if having HC available requires hardware, firmware, or 'simply' driver (software) support to run. I don't remember anyone definitively stating what is really needed.

Hey John its been a while huh How you been doing? Also curious to know what device have you been using if not the i730?
I actually didn't think it was SDHC until I got a replacement and though I could be wrong I believe Adata and the packaging said SDHC. About the other details its possible but I have seen no one really answer WHY it is the way it works like it does but just that it does. Everyone was saying SDHC couldn't work in the i730 for the longest time due to HARDWARE limitations, but now with the SDHC SOFTWARE hack it works..so I dunno.
You sure your card is a SDHC because there are 4gb SD cards that are not HC.
Yep just confirmed that the Adata card is FAT32 by looking at my past emails with tech support asking for a replacement due to the fact that the SD Card came apart, and unless I'm wrong FAT32 I believe IS HC.
