I note that MRailing now has a PayPal donation link under his avatar, which I "think" is new. Is that going to be the mechanism for the 760 Plan? Or is the Pastor still going to set up something?
It's a new feature on the site. Any member can add this to their profile. It's the hope that if someone helps you, you might drop him/her a buck for the help, but it ISN'T required, just something to help out those that are really helpful to you if you feel you should.
Talking with tsatryan, I think it would be best to wait until it's closer to a release before donations are given. We don't know when it will drop, and we don't know how much. So it's just on the back burner and once it's been announced and we have more of a firm date, then things will move forward.

As Michael said, the Paypal thing next to a member name is totally coincidental and has nothing to do with this thread. It is something we were planning for a while. It is for ANY member to add to their profile, not just moderators. There will be something added to this thread when the time is right, and as Michael said... the thought was that it would be better to wait until closer to availability.
Well, now that it looks as if the long-awaited i760 is beginning to dribble out of the highly esteemed vzw goodies warehouse, its time to bump this thread that was started nearly five months ago. Hard to believe that we thought the release was "any moment" that long ago...
Anyhow, as anyone who has benefited from the immense help that MRailing has provided with the i730, both in organizing this forum, as well as set-up guides and tech support, wayyyy above the call of duty, this will be a tangible way to express thanks, as well as to encourage continued support on the new device. Likewise, although SuperDave moved away from the i730, he has returned to using it, and would be a great asset to have in the incredible programing skills he has. He is the one that allowed us to have WM5 long before vzw silently released it. In fact, they may never have released it if the SD version hadn't appeared "in the wild."
Remember, the owner of this site has agreed to match all funds that we raise toward this venture.
Keep an eye here for details on how to contribute. And, feel free to add your comments, especially now that the light of day is dawning for the i760.

As of yet, there has been no official release date announced from VZW. Word on the street, so to speak, would indicate that it will be released on the 24th, but that has not been officially announced.
As soon as the phone, as well as official pricing structure, is released/announced, MRailing will put an announcement in this thread as to how to proceed.
Again, the owner of this site, Convergent, as agreed to match all funds raised. Also, monies raised will go toward the purchase of the i760 for MRailing and SuperDave. Who gives and how much they gave will be kept in confidence.
So, just keep your eyes on this thread for further information. And, thanks to everyone in advance for the tangible way of showing thanks and appreciation to those who have helped in the past in such a great way.
This is one of the reasons I was nervous about this from the beginning. MRailing does a hell of a job moderating here, so lets just do it this way. If you want to donate to MRailing for him to buy one click his Donate link. If you want to donate for me to buy one click my Donate link. Once I reach half which is what the matching fund would need I'll post so people can stop donating. I am sure there are people who would rather just donate to MRailing instead of me and this way that will not be an issue. If it goes long enough and it does not look like there are enough funds for me to purchase the whole thing, then I will just kick in the rest myself.
If this gets buried can we please move the idea to the top.
