Well unfortunately I decided that to stick with sprint and pick up the 6800.
I still look forward to seeing the i760 out on the streets. I'm sure now that I bought the 6800 that the i760 will be out soon.
In the end, it would cost me way too much to switch off sprint and cause a ton of headaches. I'll still read these forums since you guys seem to be a solid bunch of devs and whatnot. I'm a .Net dev and I'll be looking to do some compact framework work when I can.
Equus called me. He was worried that VZW might sue him for the property damage you caused and wanted me to represent him in the lawsuit.

I emailed a contact at Samsung that was at the Mobility tour (i will leave out names). I asked "Are there truths in the rumors that have been flying around that the I760 didnt make the QC cut with VZW?
His response was "I think we should be ok from the last I've heard. I will keep you informed if I hear any updates."
Well I am hoping the delay that people are saying is from the end of june to the anticipated July release date. If I remember correctly, the i760 was supposed to be released in Q2 which officially ends in June.
By delaying the release to Q3 it could be the beginning of July.

This is the dreaded substitution effect that occurs as a result of VZW's overdue, currently buggy and possibly de-rated, "private label" i760. VZW forfeits a potential subscriber win and we lose an enthusiastic and valued contributor.

You might best represent him if he were first taken out by a falling i730 "brick."
Just a thought, counselor.

Its hilarious........this i760 is a brick even before VZW is ready to launch. just a quick recap>>>>> NOW I hear its not really as hyped up as it is. Its being stripped off many, many features before launch and its just gonna be another i730 with WM6..period..........that said I am NOT waiting for the stripped i760 anymore..(wish I had kept the beta i760, oh well)....going over to get the iPhone..........yeah I know the service sucks and so does the fact that NO insurance on devices.............hey I have to take that chance.

Is there sarcasm in this post? I can never tell in the forums. I hope there is otherwise I better take the weekend off to find out about Sprint's test Drive policy.
I really didn't think it would come down to me actually leaving Verizon, but I guess I'll have to. I don't want to go to AT&T but that HTC Kaiser is the only phone that's really exciting me right now. The 6800 is cool, but the Kaiser is on point.
Verizon will probably be happy to get rid of all of us sling mobile bandwidth hogs anyway.
What do you figure VZW's stripping out of the i760?
Actually, as many have commented, the i760 really offers precious little over the i730. Will give it a whirl, but it could end up in a drawer. Already impatient for the next gen...
As to iPhone...it's kinda hard to fathom what a PPC warrior would do with an iPod-Talkie. It's such a lollipop. And then there's Jobs' coup de grāce, a sealed battery. Simply brilliant engineering!
Almost alone, but expecting a backlash from this device...

3.5" screen, thin (for 2002), and sealed battery... thank goodness HTC has evolved since!!
As for the HTC Kaiser, I agree that it is the most interesting-looking device to be released soon.
What do you think, another 6-8 months before a comparable CDMA version comes out?

I am afraid I may be another victim of the substitution effect I picked up a pn820 to test last week and I might not return it. It doesnt have the tweakability factor like a ppc but I carry it in my pocket. If I can BT tether it to a nokia n800 I might wait til later this year to get a 760. Of course the 760 might not come out til later this year
You know, the HTC Kaiser's OK (wondering about that modded form-factor and flip/swivel-open design, though), but it's only OK. Once again, no improvement in graphics/video or CPU. Geez, we're at least a year late for 640x480 (or better) and 24-32 bit color!
Too bad Nokia doesn't do WinMo and doesn't do CDMA (for the time being). Among the majors, it's the only shop that's not afraid of graphics. (To Apple's credit, it got iPhone's display right.)
Actually, that HTC Space Needle was a truly commendable effort for 2002. Relatively speaking, what HTC's doing today isn't as courageous.
