Be careful, You'll get stuck waiting for the next best thing, and won't get a new phone til 08 at least, well maybe the 760 will be out by then.
Long time reader, first time poster,
My 2yr renewal date was last October. I held out until Christmas time to get the upgraded black Q, then heard about i760 coming out Q1 and Ive been waiting ever since.........
On a happier note, I dont even search for information about the i760 release through Google anymore, I just come to this forum. This thread has become like a support group for me and if it werent for you guys and your insight, I might have already given up and moved on to another device by now.
I think we are all only truly happy when we are waiting for the "next best thing". I know I feel unfulfilled if I'm not waiting on SOME new gadget to come via UPS or FedEx. There's something exciting about waiting for a new toy. Frustrating, but exciting. Don't get me wrong, if I could will a 760 into my hands right now, I'd do it in 2 seconds. But then I'd be on to lusting after yet another toy. So in that sense, Verizon is actually saving me money - thanks Verizon

I am a junior Accounting major who is the treasurer of a major organization on campus, and interning at both an accounting firm and the mktg dept for a professional sports franchise during the future school year. Looking into the future, the availability of push email, Windows Mobile, WiFi and decent cell phone service coverage are necessities. In the Washington DC Metro area, VZW is the only reliable service provider so I am stuck with their devices. Everytime I go to a local Verizon store and ask for advice, they see a 19yr old in a phone store and immediately push the Chocolate or a mutation of the Razr in my face because they expect me to go "googoogaagaa" over ringtones, mp3s, and the color of the phone SMH. Since this thread seems to be the meeting place for those who truly know everything about what VZW has to offer, is the i760 really the best device for my predicament?
haha that's so true. I'm sure that once we do get our hands on the i760, we'll bemoan the fact that it only has 64MB of RAM while the 6800 has 96 or something else. I guess that is our nature by default. Never truly happy..

Two things:
1. If you're an accounting major, good luck. I myself am an accountant and I hope you aren't stuck doing sales tax returns your entire life.
2. I also own my own business so I'm also my company's IT guy and I know that I don't let my employees access my exchange server remotely without first getting approval from me about which phone they will use. If you are going to use the Exchange push feature, first make sure your IT staff is ok with it. Hell who knows, maybe they'll give you a Blackberry or something for free. Tho that'd be highly unlikely for an intern. But good luck to you!

Take alook at the XV6800 and the i760.

VZW, It's 2009! Time to embrace technology, not suppress it. - oops too late I've moved on over to the iPhone w/ AT$T!
"We compete not just with AT&T but with all wireless carriers," [Verizon Chairman and CEO Ivan] Seidenberg said. "Where we compete we think we're very competitive."
He went on to note that Verizon has come out with four devices in the last month alone and they've talked about another 20 coming soon.
"What the iPhone will do is add excitement and stimulation to the whole space and we'll be a beneficiary in a different way," Seidenberg said. "We don't believe the iPhone changes that game plan for how we segment the market and how we attract the mobile user. AT&T is a very formidable company but we need to see the impact."
Thanks! I had not thought about company approval at all. Ill definitely look into that before I buy, because VZW will add charges for an arm and a leg to my monthly bill if I have to go back and get another phone.
All, I sent a request to my VZW business rep to get an update on the next WM devices to be released. Here was the response:
The next three devices -
6800 - which will be sometime third quarter. Don't have a specific date.
I760 - Failed user testing and we sent back for revisions. Treo 755P - which you know is going to be a Palm version - No timeframe announced.
Of the three, the 6800 will be out first.
I'll see if we can get a more specific release date.
mrailing has been uncharacteristicly awol for the last couple days. I think he is out testing his new i760....
I hope Mike is taking a well deserved vacation! The man seems to work till all hours and his posts here make me think that he must not sleep at all... so I hope he is lying on a beach in French Guiana (Cancun is way too civilized) with nary an electron, diode, or nangate in sight.. Maybe he's in love with a island girl and is getting a big butterfly tattooed on his chest before he gets captured and sent back here to the prison of life with the rest of us.
