I went to the VZW store at Oakland Mall. They said they would contact me as soon as they become available. i would start there.
I hate the Oakland mall. I figured Summerset would be a better option with all the rich snobs. I'll put on a suit and try to look important and wealthy. Then be really rude and demanding. I'll fit right in.
The VZW store in Rochester was pretty helpful, but if those stores aren't seeing them till 2 weeks after release, I'll be too impatient.
I know most B2B reps seem to be right there with CS reps, but my guy (I'm sure everyone thinks this) has always been on the money. Anyway, I just updated another line to a krzr (best non PDA phone out there) and while he was here I had to ask about the 760 (he is so sick of my weekly emails) and he said "within two weeks". He said just like anything, it "could be moved back" but right now its going to happen within a two week window. he was "certain".
Im a partner at an ad agency, so i had to ask him about their marketing strategy (or lack there of) and he said we'll see a considerable amount more spent than what was spent on the 730. we agreed that their strategy is and always will be to wait until a phone is released to do any marketing whatsoever. marketing upcoming devices would kill sales for all the old crap they are trying to unload before the latest and greatest arrives. -im sure this was yet another reason big red passed on the iphone. -think at&t is selling any smartphones before june 29?
two weeks!! woo hoo!!
This is great news! I attempted to buy a Treo 700Wx on ebay 2 weeks ago (which I would keep for 6months and then pick up the 760 for a decent price), but I was scammed . But this is actually working out quite well, by the time I get my money back from ebay/paypal I should be able to pick up a new i760
This is what I don't get. Why are they being soooooo evasive about the marketing of this product. All this "word of mouth"/"round da water cooler jargon" makes me frustrated. Before the LG chocolate or Q came out they had this enormous campaign of billboards, commercials, etc. I remember when they at least had the email notification for the i730 but we don't even have that now. I know it caters towards business people versus mass public but come on! We all consider ourselves business minded in some form of way. I'll bet the house on building a massive targeting campaign towards corporate America to buy this phone vs. some mallrats looking for a way to check "myspace on the go" or whatever. IMHO.
Also, whatever happened to when you bought a phone it had that unique feature no other phone had. Mind you I have been checking this site religiously so I know one of the unique features on this phone will be the external number pad. But, what else??? where's the internal GPS or 3, 4 or 5 MP camera with HD video recording. Or this one....make the phone REALLY email capable rather than latching on some third-party thingambob that will slow it down or make things complicated when you need support for it. For example, If I have myname@blah.com and i'm not at the office the phone should be configured with the proper settings to send and recieve minus a $50 data plan package. Simple.
Ditto. When I told her that they were going to be about $600 each, she balked. But when I mentioned the $300 price per unit that somebody else mentioned a few posts back, she found that much more palatable.
I'm sorry. I should have been a bit clearer. My wife doesn't want a PDAPhone. She doesn't see the need and doesn't want something with a large form factor. I was thinking of upgrading her from the Moto 815 to the RAZR and was hoping I could get a discount on the RAZR when I bought my i760. I doubt anyone other than, perhaps, very large corporations will be able to get a discount on the purchase of multipe i760s.

That's GREAT news and consisitant with Ethan's reports to MRailing. Personally, I doubt VZW would downgrade the i760 to WM5 because that would be a huge project, entailing opening each and every box to perform the downgrade. If there's a problem with Vista that can't be fixed in two weeks, I would think VZW would be MUCH more likely to postpone the release of the i760 until the kinks with Vista could be resolved.
So, it looks like I'll finally turn 40 sometime before the end of June. :

OK, I like to foster an attitude of acceptance. You seem like a nice, intelligent person. On top of that, I was born & raised in Washington state. So I say this as a friend. You have one post under your belt. For the love of God & Washingtonians everywhere, change you username! Nothing says "unhip white nerd" like using 10 year old black slang. Please, please stop playing "Mambo number 5" at your parties and don't add "izzle" to anything. That went out with the Macarena. Peace.
Thanks for the concern of the name, but it is here to stay . As for the phone stuff, you guys have been very helpful and fun to read, thanks. Ill continue to watch the posts, but do not worry, the name will not pop up too much more.
I also have other gripes that I hope they have fixed in WM6:
1. When in landscape mode on WM5 cleartype is not availabe. Will this be a distant memory with WM6?
2. I hope that midget stylus will have to be used as minimal as possible with the keyboard and numeric pad.
3. Plus does the i760 have some type of sensor (not like the accelerometer in the iphone) that when you flip up to access the keyboard will the display automatically go into landscape mode??? Please say its so!
Now I know you may ask yourself why bash it so much? Get another phone like 6800. No! I have been a loyal Samsung since i700 I even talked my mother into getting the i600 when it came out so with that said i'm not turning back now.

I think you may have watched too many promo videos of the iPhone.

~snip~
I rarely use the stylus now on my 730. I tend to use my finger/fingernail or a pen or whatever else is handy. I use the windows menu buttons and the dpad for alot of stuff as well. No screen protector and 2+ years of heavy use and the screen still looks good. Every couple of weeks I need to clean the ink off the screen.

If you take a look at how clear type works, you wont be able to get it to work in landscape. Clear type depends on the pixel layout of a screen. When you turn the device on the side your pixel layout isn't the same anymore.

Just a little good natured hazing for the new guy .

ClearType essentially triples horizontal resolution. There's no reason it couldn't triple vertical resolution for landscape mode. Granted, our eyes are more sensitive to horizontal sharpness, but it would still help.

Does anyone else agree?
It just dawned on me as to why they are not "Marketing the Product". It's probably because it's already broken, or has problems, like the I730 and it's lack of wm5 on release, and after WM5 upgrade the CPU didn't autoscale.
I tested the PN820 phone, it's a great smartphone, can you buy or find one other than on-line? no.
Hey, if they don't market it, and only the Technical people know about it and buy it, less people are going to Complain when it doesn't work right out of the box, for us, we will find a fix with or without VZW's help. IMHO.

Yeah, I like to let one fingernail just kinda grow long. Then I file it down to a point so that I have a nice narrow tip with which I can tap on the screen.
Yes, I no longer have a touch screen with the Q, but I still find it handy for picking my teeth after a good meal.
