Now if we only had somewhere where we could punch in our mighty credit card numbers and receive a handset two days later, it would be all good.
I spoke to our corp rep today, and all he said was "I have heard it is probably a Q3 release, can't really say more than that".
Wow they are being tightlipped on this one.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the fourth of July Q3?

Had myself convinced to switch to the 760 when available. I use the remote app often and am also disappointed to see it gone. Will have to decide how important the remote is to me compared to the I760 upside.

I agree with that, but I think this centers on whether or not the phone has been launched yet. From what I've been able to gather, it looks like simply announcing a phone won't cut it, as is the case with the Samsung A727 for AT&T.
Quote:
The exclusion order does not apply to handheld wireless communications devices that are of the same models as handheld wireless communications devices that were being imported for sale to the general public on or before the date of the order, June 7, 2007.
It states "devices that WERE BEING IMPORTED for sale". It does NOT state devices that were already for sale.
This means devices that were being imported prior to 6/7/07 are clear. There is nothing stating they must already be on sale before that date.
From what i saw today the I760 phone has:
WM6 (it was confirmed it will be that on release)
Voice Command 1.61 something (I couldn't remember the last numbers)
USB 2.0
BT 2.0 (something about 1.1 stereo)
WIFI B/G.
No IR port
Ability to Tether via Bluetooth (per the Samsung Rep)...).
dangerous (and equus),
did you really mean Voice Command? or Voice Signal?
I have read lots of comments comparing the two. I have really liked Voice Signal...is Verizon switching?

I can't answer the "IS Verizon Switching" Statement, as i think it depends on the phone that you are buying. Windows Mobile i would imagine will run the VC, whereas the Non WM phones will run VS. (Does that make sense)?
it has VOICE COMMAND. Voice Command is a M$ program and that is what is coming with the WM6 I760.
VC is better than VS by Far. IMHO
Just so everyone knows, with WM6, Microsoft made it easier for companies to add voice recognition software, namely, Microsoft Voice Command. It is now available as an add-on module for the OS, and isn't another piece of software. Basically it's now one of the options they can turn on for a small fee, most likely less than VoiceSignal was charging per unit. It is suppose to integrate better with the handheld, especially with WM6, since it's no longer a separate install.
Expect the new Voice Command to be better....

This is enormous news. If this ruling is allowed to stand, it would basically bring Verizon & Sprint to a halt. They would be unable to import new inventory for phones that they are already selling and would be blocked from releasing new phones (i760!) until they get some devices designed with non-qualcomm chips. And don't kid yourself, Verizon would never release the i760 knowing full well that they wouldn't be able to get anything more than what they have in their warehouses.
That said, I don't see this flying. Either the white house will step in to overrule, or, the more probable outcome is that someone will settle. Either qualcomm will directly settle with broadcomm or there will be some help from the device manufacturers so that they can get their phones out the door.
I'm blown away that nobody has posted about it yet, but what do you guys think about this ruling that bans the import of newly manufactured devices with a Qualcomm chipset?
I know that the CPU used in the i760 is made by Samsung, but I guess the radio itself is something that Qualcomm manufactures? Also, if the i760 did fall under this ban, wouldn't it benefit VZW (and Sprint with their 6800) to "release" the i760 for sale so that it is grandfathered in? Since we've speculated some that these guys are already sitting in a warehouse somewhere, waiting to be shipped at the end of the month, why not announce them for sale as of today with some backordering in order to preserve the ability to sell these as long as the ban is upheld?
Talk about hoping against hope, but that seems better than the alternative of this thing getting pushed back indefinitely.
That ban will never go into affect. It will be overturned or there will be a settlement. But my favorite quote from the article is this:
Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Nancy Stark blasted the ITC's decision. "It's a bad order for the industry and for the millions and millions of wireless consumers who depend on wireless communications," she said. "It's really going to freeze innovation, or it could."
Verizon doesn't like it when other companies stifle innovation. They want to be the only ones that can do that.

Reminds me of the saying, "Don't cheat the government, they hate competition.", or something like that.
I may have missed this but when it gets released to corporate customers is it also available on the web or through telesales, or should I start hunting for a friend's corporate rep to hook me up?

Sounds like Verizon is going to be Paying Qualcomm a lot of money. Both SamSung and VZW have a lot of money tied up in the development of the I760. they can't just let that go.
I wonder if the Samsung Guy knew about this and that is why he said a late July Release.

If Verizon pays any money to make sure the i760 stays in supply, then I am sure they would pass that cost on to us.
