Can anyone tell from that picture if the dpad and number pad are always out on the i760 pictured or are they part of a slide out board like the i730? I'm concerned either way: If its a slide out, where's the QWERTY board? A landscape 2nd slider perhaps? If its not a slide out, and the numeric pad is always out like that, its going to be a tall (long?) device.
I believe the numeric keypad and directional pad are part of the outer shell of the phone, so that they are always available to the user - even when the slider is closed. The QWERTY keyboard is definitely there, as per the short list of specs posted.
If you look closely at our i730/i830s, there is also quite a bit of "real estate" under the screen: that "push-bar" where the Verizon logo is located, then the D-pad with the 4 surrounding buttons (softkeys + calendar & contacts), and finally the talk/back/end buttons.
So if you look at the i760's picture from the engadget.com post (which I agree is low-res and not detailed enough), it looks like Samsung has shifted the screen up a little and placed the numeric keypad and directional pad under it.
Once the fully-detailed specs are released, we should find out what the dimensions are - however I predict that the length will be very similar to the i730/i830's, excluding the latter's antennae.

Hey MarcG,
I'm pushing on my i830's Verizon "push-bar" and nothing good is happening. My screen just says...TILT. What am I doing wrong?!

I was thinking mayby if they indented the keys for the dialing on the front it wont accicdentally dial numbers if in your pocket? Or not..Hmm..I dont know how theyll do that..that would kinda suck. Im VERY HAPPY that it has QWERTY! It needs the top of the line stuff though, like someone here said..2 mp camera, perhaps two, one for pics the other for streaming camera, larger memory, and PLEASE SD not micro sd.
The only thing that looks intruiging (besides the UI refresh) in Crossbow is the new Live client, along w/ Marketplace. This will be a bigger consideration if any XBox Marketplace integration is included (yeah, I'm a gamer too...), but I also think there may be a d/l'able client for WM5 to update the current MSN Mobile app, so this may be moot too.
You're right. I've been beta testing it on my i730 for a couple months now & it runs great, although the xbox live integration hasn't launched yet.
I caught a real quick glimpse of some of the XBox Live functionality back at E3 on Major Nelson's pre-release Moto-Q, so they defintely had at least a working proof of concept back then. How'd you score an in on the beta program?
2007 cant come fast enough! come on verizon - give us the good stuff!!!
and let mrailing be an FUT!!!
Rumor has it that he's rapidly approaching OLD FUT status, but I’m thinking that I still hold the record at 63!
Beats the alternative!

Got an invite from the MSDN beta testing program. I've gotten to test a lot of cool stuff that way, like the new search that just launched. Anyone on this forum should definitely apply.
That's what I hear ... now if I could only remember where I heard it.

From the information that was out at the time, the i760 that was presented then was only going to be an Euro-Asian GSM phone. From the looks of the most recent pics on the Verizon "slideshow" that we saw, it's a "different" i760. Samsung has a history for calling devices released in Euro/Asia the same as a DIFFERENT device for US. For example recently Samsung was calling a new smartphone an i600, yet they had already released an i600 in the US a few years ago as a flip smartphone. When people posted pics in the article, many used the old photo instead of the new photo of the i600. It all came down to the first few letters of the device name they left off, like SCH-i600 and SGH-i600.
The i760 that I said wasn't going to be released was the GSM Euro/Asia version in the article with a few pics. Now Samsung is using the same i760 name for a similar device for Verizon, but most likely will have an SCH in front of it, where the other one has something different.
Also from the pics in the slideshow and comparing it to the pics of the original i760, they are different devices.
This is why I don't like Rumor threads, barely any of the information is accurate, and it's just everyone speculating. It doesn't help when a company uses the same name and causes a post someone did months earlier to be wrong.
This is also why companies like Verizon don't release information on new devices until they are NEAR launch. They sometimes decide not to carry that device, or delay it, or drop features, etc. which causes all the information being talked about and the hype to be wrong.
The same thing happened on the camera version of the i730 (which I think you were involved in those conversations as well). The i730 camera version was tested and was used by many people, and they were suppose to release it a few months after the i730, yet they never did. Still a sore spot for many people, including myself. This is why we say, don't trust the stuff you read in rumor threads, until it can be proven, but from the looks of the i760 as it was presented in November, the one in those pictures is still not going to be released for Verizon, and is still going to be a Euro/Asian GSM only release, and we are getting a "different" i760...

Sometimes we are pleasantly surprised! But VzW's CDMA i760 looks a lot different from the GSM i730 from the link in the first post of this thread. I'll have to see it live first before I get it---it looks bigger than the GSM version. The 6800 might actually tempt me too...it has better specs (except not having crossbow---but that is gotta come, right?)
the Business i'm in, rarely are cameras allowed. and now with the advent of the camera phone, in general phones are now not allowed. As much as i would use a camera in a phone, i could just buy a cheap 2MP camera if needed.

Just using the camera situation as an example. I also have a few places that I visit that don't allow cameras, and now they just say no cellular phones period. When I first started with them, they gave me a pass since mine didn't have a camera, but now they say no, and don't let me have one at all.
Not a big deal, but it would be nice at times to just take a pic on the phone and e-mail it to someone, even though it's crappy. But I do carry a small camera normally to do just that, that uses an SD card, which I can e-mail the 6MP picture to someone when I need to, so it's not a big deal, but more convience.
I am hoping the i760 is going to be good for VZW, and that's the one I am hoping for, but depending on the information when it's released, I might be headed towards the 6800, so it depends on the form factor and options in the device, and who knows, I might pick up the 6800 when it's released, and then get the i760 when it comes out if it's better than the 6800. It's only money right?

Yes, that's because if you have a discoverable BlueTooth phone, it can be remotely turned into an open mic, enabling someone to eavesdrop on any conversation within range of the phone.
Never leave your Bluetooth discoverable if you have any secrets.

Yes, I do that too. But isn't that moving away from the "convergence" paradigm? I thought the idea was to have one small device that does everything, rather than carrying multiple devices.
