I would agree with Michael. I think the i760 is sitting in whatever warehouses they use right now. The only decision left is for the marketing genius' to "pull the trigger," so to speak. And, as I said before, there is only one thing that they use as their deciding factor - how and when to release it so that the company realizes the most profit... and that doesn't mean simply profit from the one time sale, but how the multiple sales fit into their entire product line of hardware and usage.

To back up what MR said and also yours, YES the i760 is ready to be shipped and VZW is planning to release it a day before the iPhone or a day after that. Rumours are they plan to really wait two days after iPhone release. Now that could change anytime knowing VZW's fickle-minded bean counters. That said I KNOW everyone here will fall in love with the i760 and you will wonder >>>how can a device that is good already (i730) be made better!!!! Fun times are ahead

So, it looks like my birthday is getting pushed off a little further into the future. On the bright side of things, that means I get to be 39 for a little longer.
(That's just my little way of trying to cheer myself up for having to wait for the i760 to be released. Now I know how my kids feel when my kids ask me for something and I tell them, "I'll think about it.")

and you think the REPS know what they are talking about? I think Not.
lol. Wonder if these are the same reps who insisted that the i730 did not have wifi and we could not connect to the internet unless we purchased a data plan.

Forgive me since I don't know you and your reputation, is this confirmed? What's the source of these rumours?
LOL, no disrespect meant of course. I do see he/she is a moderator so I assume he/she probably has a source of some sort.
Equus has been around much longer than I, and over the past year hasn't been as active because of issues outside of the board, but he is very knowledgeable and does have connections in the world of "V".
Again, even if someone is on the inside at Verizon, and gets told a date, it can be changed at the last minute.
I wouldn't pass over the information that Equus provides, as it's normally fairly spot on...
I talked with "Ethan" today, and he's still tight lipped. He got in a bit of trouble for asking about a different device that was outside of his realm, and the BIG V didn't like it very much. It wasn't my fault, but he asked for information at the wrong time, and basically was re-educated on the non-disclosure information he signed. This was information he needed, and they eventually gave it to him, but he's being a bit more tight lipped just in case the powers that be watch over him a little more. He did mention that we are in the home stretch now...

I would agree with Michael. I think the i760 is sitting in whatever warehouses they use right now.
In the field I am in, it is common for us to issue a stop ship order to the warehouse for a new product that has not reached the customer. Then have the warehouse upgrade the firmware (and occasionally hardware, ouch) to fix a problem found late in the program cycle, or add a new feature.
This talk of the rev A, if it is a chip change, is highly unlikely. But firmware, I wouldn't be surprised.
I also wouldn't be surprised if they are holding back for a big release 'blast' just after the iPhone hits the street. Most of us have made our decision, but the unwashed masses are easily swayed by the glitter in the press.
Engaget Mobile has a post saying that Sprint is releasing their first WM6 phone early on June 16th. With retail stores seeing it a month later. While that same phone was also rumored to be bumped all the way to October.... so who knows. They do have officialish looking pictures though.
The point being, they change that stuff all the time and I guess it's just the waiting game.
I hope sprint does release it on time. That's a much bigger 'threat' to the i760 as far as target demo goes (business Smart phone). Rival CDMA network, first WM6 smart phone, etc... It would be a shame for Verizon to be slower in bringing WM6 to their consumers than Sprint.
Might light some fires under the powers that be at VZW and get them to ignore the damn iPhone for a minute.
Man VZW can be stupid. The biggest buzz to me was the i760 was going to be the first Pocket PC with WM6. Sprint missed there original launch date to put WM6 on the 6800 and are going to beat VZW out of the gate with wm6! VZW stupidity never ceases to amaze!
uh oh... he questions the great equus...
dont worry geckotek, i am sure someone will enlighten you!
LOL, Miata don't worry I am just a "lowly" flunky beta-tester for VZW
as MR just posted we are on that home stretch.
late breaking news>>>>> there is a update being flashed in stock units to fix the frigging BT as us lowly testers had mentioned a while back which went to deaf ears, BUT OMG someone listened.......... soooooooooooooo, now all of us are gonna be running around in a frenzy tweaking the heck out of the i760 and SOMEBODY is gonna post a thread asking this question>>>>> so, can i return this POS cause it will not boot up after i installed a free program my techy brotherinlaw emailed me?
Gawd I miss those days.............

I'd rather have the BEST than the FIRST every time. First is highly overrated, especially for something I'm going to be depending on every day for the next two years.

Agreed.
I am shocked that Sprint will beat them to market though. And at least Equus is here to tell us that at least they are working on something in this time rather than just sitting on it.
I'm just hoping that the device is as good as I've seemingly convinced myself it is. At least we have testers and people like "Ethan" that have had the device. I just hope they'd let us know if it wasn't worth the wait.

Trust me it is worth the wait. It is a breath of fresh air when you dig into WM6 on this "sweet-device" (geez, I need to get a life)
Don't worry about $print beating us to the market,
In all honesty VZW really does not SIT on devices, they just test it till they "run-out-of-budget" J/K.......I am going to take a cheap shot here>>>>its the bean counters. there I feel better now.whew.....
