"They said the Sammy rep had just been by a week before and told them the i760 was not going to be released as planned. It is going back into the shop to get Rev A in the hardware. Sammy apparently believes the i760 cannot sell for long against the 6800 and other PDA phones with no hope of a Rev A upgrade."

Thats just crazy. Weeks before a Release and they are going back in to upgrade a the hardware. I think they should just Duct Tape the new Chip to the back side of the unit and get it out.

i760 7/4/07
755p 7/4/07
xv5800 7/18/07
xv6800 7/18/07
Moto M (Q9M) 7/31/07 (supposedly the iphone killer)

This sounds dubious. It's very late in the day for that, it would require all their testing to start again & resubmission to the FCC, etc. And this from the company that released the i730 with 2k3se on it in 05, waiting a full year to release a WM5 upgrade & never including it in their new i730s? Unless they feel they learned something from the i730, it just doesn't sound like something they'd do. Ironic too is the fact that the most anticipated phone ever is being released with EDGE, while Verizon is worrying that their 3G phone may not be fast enough.

Are these dates B2B, B2C or both?

Not really sure. He just said the document had old dates on there and they were lined out and then the newest dates were listed but it didnt really say if it would be to b2b, or stores or both? Hopefully now that we are slowly getting closer we will start to see more and more information.

Just one Question on the Release Date that you stated. 7/04/07. That's July 4, Independance day (a National Holiday). Are the Website guys going to be working to update the site that day? Or will it really be THURSDAY 7/5/07 for the RELEASE.

They'll probably work. In fact, they'll probably make the change the day before. Either way, they can do it all from home if they need to. It's not uncommon.

okay ... not to be a doom sayer here ... but my rep ... well .. used to be my rep ... she's been moved to government contracts for the area ... anyway ... she says Vzw has made some requests for changes in the software and the release date has been pushed "way back" ... she's not sure what way back means ... but she's guessing it's like the delays made on the wx release ...

My guess is that these changes, including the Rev A change, were initiated way back and that VZW has known all along that they would not release it until late June or early July. When discussing it with our rep a few weeks ago, he didn't seem to share my opinion that it would be released in June. I'm betting he knew it would be July at the earliest.

Let's just hope that our wait is only another month and that it pays off in a stable device with WM6 and Rev A.

Lets see i730 was July 4th weekend 05 wouldnt be surpirse if the i760 was July 4th 07. I also assume B2B for at least a month to get it seeded and to deal with the limited supply.

I gotta say I personally think REV A is crap. It's not going to make any difference on the phone. There things are DLing at 600kbs to 900kbs. Now it will download at 1200kbs??? What is that going to do cause it's not going to get my mail any faster or load a page any faster till we get some more RAM and a faster processor.

What's your guys take on REV A?

Rev A. to me seems incremental vs. Rev 0 compared to Rev 0 vs. the old Q2Net. That was painful.

True, it's incremental, but after using it I believe you'll notice the difference. I just got a Rev A PCMCIA card.....it's a winner.
