So, I'm guessing the 760 will run around $399.99 or so when it (finally) comes out. Is there a difference between NE2 pricing and the pricing if you're out of contract? For example, all 5 of my lines qualify for NE2, but are under contract until the end of June. Will there be lower pricing offered if I wait until my contract runs out?
...Looks like the 730 is completely out of stock! I think thats a good sign! ...I have an extra (no batteries) if anyone wants it.
I went to my Local Desert Ridge Vzw store on Sat. and they had the I830 on the shelf, i thought that was odd.
Just curious. Not sure what you keep referring to with the inability to stream to your i730. I have the unlimited plan and stream to my i730 all the time. Check out Welcome to VDC - Virtual Digital Cable | Television Everywhere. There are a few free channels there, and with time could give you more sites to look at, but the point is streaming is possible...
Sorry, I forgot to include the reason that I originally was going to post. A friend of mine just did the 2 fer deal with the i730. I actually looked at doing something like it for myself, but decided not to. Or I guess Verizon decided for me. They are showing sold out again on the website. Maybe that is good news...
And, I agree brassMONKEY. $399 would be a great price point, but I think they will be higher. Wasn't the original i730 price like $699? I could convince my wife about the upgrade much easier if it was released for $399!

It's not that we can't. VZW says we're not allowed to and they may terminate your data plan if you do. On the page right before this one MR posted the data usage terms o service. Which to paraphrase says that even though we say it's unlimited that means 5gb a month and anything over that we assume your doing prohibited things such as streaming audio or video. It's another one VZW little F yous to their customers. If I was ever in a dark room with the CEO of VZW.........

I don't think yawn was saying you can't do it, but it's considered to be against the data policy that you sign/agree to when signing up. Just like you're also not supposed to tether the device to a laptop and play unreal tournament or something on it.
He's pointing out the annoyance of the fact that VZW has phones made to stream, but if you try to do it through other (read Free) channels then they can apparently take away access or whatever they do when you violate the policy.
As long as you stay under 5GB per month, it's not an issue. You can do whatever you want.
Now if Verizon canceled my data package because I went over 5GB per month, the would have a fight on their hands. There was no mention of the 5GB per month limit when I signed up, they have sent me no notice of change, they have not contacted me because of it. I signed on for unlimited, and I will use unlimited. I am sure if I did get canceled (which I don't even use 2 GB per month), I could get it reinstated, but would then be notified of the change. But this could also be a reason to get your account terminated without having to pay the fee, since they changed the terms of service on you.
The whole deal is just waiting for a lawsuit or a major complaint, especially since they haven't notified their customers of the change. This is a hot topic, and something that gets brought up numerous times per week.
Just stay under 5GB per month, and everything should be fine and you shouldn't have any issues with cancellation of service...

5gb a month on these devices is a lot of data. Sure if your torrenting that goes fast but thats not what we are talking about here. Streaming slingbox / music or free tv isn't going to eat up that much bandwidth unless you are doing it a huge amount every month.

Correct. I don't sling much any more, more in the fall with Football and Basketball, but even then, at 3-5 hours each week, I was under 5GB. It's hard to hit that limit, and next to impossible if you are within their guidelines, which is why I can see them making the limit, but it was just a few who abused it and used it for everything they did online that ruined it for the rest of us.

Why is it the first thing we all think of when it comes to pricing, is "can I sell my wife on this price!?" haha -I'm right there with ya! ...With all the competition coming out around the same time, I can't see a "less desirable" non-mainstream PDA being more than $399 or $499. -Or maybe, I just can't see selling my wife that I really "need" a seven hundred dollar phone!!?
Seems that the majority of the rumors about the phone are over, and this thread has become the support group for those waiting till it's finally released. Everyone just hanging on for that next report from "Ethan" fix.
So I thought I'd start a new rumor...
"The Samsung i760 has been tested to ensure that it does not cause cancer. In fact our studies have shown that the device actually cures cancer. The bad news for the US market is that VZW will be blocking the feature in preparation for their own service VKemo coming out in mid-late 2009. No price announcements have been made in regards to this service."

I think part of the problem is that the carriers are getting tighter lipped about the devices and work harder to make sure they are under wraps. With the FCC limitation on data released ahead of time, it takes away a big portion of what we learn about the device.
Also these threads have always been this way. They are on topic for about 10-20 posts when a rumor happens and then bang, back off on a tangent when someone asks a question. This is also why we ask that everyone stay in this one thread when discussing a "new" device, since it goes every which way, and gives anyone subscribing to the thread the ability to watch just one of them. This helps keep rumors, fact, fiction, etc. in one place.
The information about the i760 isn't as plentiful as it once was with the i730 and the 6700. I think the carriers are putting them in the hands of people with big mouths...

I just think that there are just so many players now vs. 2 years ago. There are slew of WM5/6 devices (both Smartphone-esk and PocketPC-esk), several different Treos, and so many blackberrys that we can make blackberry pie (bad joke). My point it, as Bruce Springsteen puts it, it is just "Lost in the Flood". The i760 is just one of a ~50 (guessing) devices these days, where the i730 was one of ~10 devices 2 years ago.

I actually agree that the carriers are remaining more tight-lipped these days.
I had my meeting w/ the Health Care sector reps Monday and they weren't saying a word. They had just come from this big meeting in Atlanta where a lot of things were discussed, but I don't know exactly what.
They were really hyping the 6800....BIG TIME. This leads me to believe it's release on VZW is immenent. However, they didn't have much to say on the i760. However, if I were putting money down, I'd still say June for both.
Edit: I remember why they hyped the 6800 (and 5800,) HTC did a big presentation to them (not sure if it was ATL or not.) They finally just learned that HTC manufactured the Treo! They whispered the HTC name to me like it was some cool new secret manufacturer nobody had heard about.
I frequently check their pda + smartphone list to see what's new. Several times the i730 has been on the list but marked "out of stock." Then they seem to come up with a new stash. Today I checked and the i730 is gone from the list! I hope that's good news!

Very cool hopefully this means they will at least give us a release date now

Guess I need to start actually looking at their external site every once in a while instead of just checking out testman. And I'm with y'all: that can't be a bad sign when the phone the i760 is set to replace isn't even offered anymore,
Didn't a few people on here mention they heard that one big factor in the i760's release was selling through the remaining i730 inventory? If that's the case, we're one step closer to finally seeing this phone...

Thanks for the info, Geckotek. Isn't it amazing that we tend to know a heck of a lot more about phones than the people who are paid to sell them? I'm really afraid that it's going to come down to what's offered first, the 6800 or i760.
As for the reps themselves, I've got a question: Do they seem like they're taking the health care sector more seriously now that the Axim is gone? I'm starting to see more and more MD's with convergence devices than the Axim's they used to use, and as we're required to have a PDA starting in our 3rd year (if not sooner), it's surprising to me that providers aren't looking in this direction a little more.
I know I wouldn't mind one bit having a brand new i760 for the start of my rotations in July.

I dont mind paying 700.00 for a device if all of the intended functionality of the device is activated and usable (not crippled).
