So this post doesn’t get moved.........I hope the i760 meets your expectations.
Mark
Thanks, Mark. Maybe MRailing can convince "Ethan" to send me an early release of the i760 as Verizon's way of wishing me a happy birthday. I swear I won't tell anyone about the present.

I just met with my VZW team that services my company. They showed me the new global blackberry 8830 (release May 14th) and gave me an update on other devices. i760 will be in June (didn't know if it was beginning, middle or end), but said it will be released in June. The 6800 and the 5800 will be released in July. Interesting sidenote is that the 6800 will have WM6 on it.
Actually no, the i730 had LOTS more hype around it before release, and KBAM hit it on the head with his last post. The i760 has a lot of competition and the i730 was a HUGE step forward for devices (which is why it's still a great device, and even devices released today don't meet all of it's specs). The i730's hype stemmed from 3 devices, the 6600, i700, and the i600. There also was some hype from the Palm devices that were out, so it was meeting the hype of around 3-6 devices of people, all of which were active on the forum. Now the i760 is being released with a handful of smartphone devices, the 6800, and some Treo devices, so hype is spread out.
For me, it was the Palm (Kyo7135, still the best form factor) to PPC jump, which is why I was so anxious to get the i730. The i730 to i760 will not be a major release in terms of functionality (Yes, HTML mail is cool), but rather in form factor/physical weight. The brick I carry around everywhere does gets to you after a while. It hasn't bother me as much this time around waiting for the i760.

I just had about an hour long conversation with "Ethan". I got him a pit/garage pass for the Indy Speedway for the day, and he now owes me big. I am meeting him tomorrow afternoon to show him around some, and hopefully get him an introduction to a couple of the drivers. I did poke him a little for more information and he laughed, and told me he doesn't have the i760 with him on this trip, and is instead using the new BB 8830 for a bit of a trial. He knew I would be mad that he didn't bring it, but he did bring some more news about the i760.
He said that this month is a 99% sure bet that it WON'T be released. They pushed it till the end of June, most likely the last week for most likely a business only release. He said that they were unsure of business only, since they will have plenty of stock on the device, where they were short on the i730 stock from it's release, plus the fact of having so many other devices.
He said this still wasn't a sure thing, but it looks to be the last week in June as of right now. He was tip toeing around details but his exact words each time I asked (and I asked probably 10 times during the conversation), "Expect it the last week of June, but the dates still aren't locked."
I will poke on him a bit more tomorrow when I see him, but that's what I found out so far.

Need help setting up your i730/i830 or other WM2003/WM5 Phone, as well as the other hacks I have done, check out the MRailing Guides and Links
also nice to finally hear something about the 5800 - i am interested in that too...
Yeah there's been next to nothing on the Libra for a while, huh?
Back on topic, it's starting to look like the guess of a June-ish timeframe is really shaping up. I just think it's interesting that the way the i760 is being played by Verizon seems to be in some kind of response to the iPhone. Just checking out the pictures thread on the i760 shows that it's been around (and running WM6) for quite a while now, and without Rev A to worry about, WM6 testing seemed to be the only question mark.
Since T-Mobile just released their WM6 update for the dash, I kind of assumed that it meant carriers (at least one anyway) had the bugs worked out for the most part. That said, there doesn't seem to a lot of reason behind holding the i760 until June unless they're trying to make it some kind of answer (and let's hope it's more of an early answer) to the iPhone. Just some thoughts...

MRailing:
I know this is the i760 forum, but, alas, it seems that I just can't get a camera-enabeled device past the Man (and in my case, the Man is a Federal Judge & you just do NOT mess with those guys). I'll be out on the 760 (by the way, you have the same rules in Indy. If you have to go with any frequency to the Federal courthouse there, you might need to look elsewhere, too). In your post above, though, you mentioned that Ethan was using a BB 8830. I'd sure be interested in his (and your, if he lets you play with it) impressions of the 8830. It seems to be destined to be my next device.

its the month it's coming out (June), you must have been thinking the month that you are going to Buy it.
Well I hate for this to keep going, it was really just an off hand post that I don't have strong feelings about one way or another. In fact I have no information about July, it was just an educated guess, and I do hope I'm wrong & it comes out in June. The sooner the better.

Knowing Verizon, if they are predicting that it will be released the last week of June, that almost certainly means it will slip to July.

Knowing Verizon, if they are predicting that it will be released the last week of June, that almost certainly means it will slip to July. Nicer weather, things are more laid back, people are on vacation, and those VZW employees say to themselves, "hey, what's another few weeks? Let's let it slide some more."

That was basically my point. To Verizon, June IS July (or August, or late October).
...it's pretty sad to think that VZW's last new Pocket PC, the Treo 700W, was released in January 2006...
Although the XV6700 and the i830 also appeared in early '06--and a couple of BBs have trickled in since--you raise a crucial and damning point. If VZW were committed to PPC mobility, an 18-month vacuum--let alone mediocre devices--wouldn't be acceptable.
Short of Mark_A_K's 'Final Solution' (emancipating subscribers from carrier-corrupted hardware will happen, but not for at least several years), conventional wisdom suggests that not much can be done to kick a** in the short term.
But wait, an 'outside the box' approach may be at hand. What if...there were a resource to set up and operate a MVNO for Road Warriors?
The seeds of a solution may live in the next post...
