I can't wait to get this phone, but unfortunately, I (and many of you, I'm sure) don't have time to read through all 54 pages of this thread (not to mention other threads on other forums). So, I created www.i760wiki.com. I realize this could be confused with the other i760 (SGH I believe), but I didn't want to be bothered with typing schi760wiki . Right now it is pretty bare. I just set it up tonight, and my purpose in setting it up is to have a central database of all i760 info. So for now it would be a perfect reference to store all of the current pre-release info we have. Once the i760 is released we can use it as a database for all the current information/hacks for the phone. I currently host a wiki for the PN-820 (www.pn820wiki.com) because I have that phone and we desperately needed a central place for all info (rather than saying "go read page 52 of some thread"). I can't wait till the i760 is released so I can switch from the pn820. Anyways, I think that is enough background info
I'm hoping some people will be able help load the wiki with the most recent info. I will add what I can, but I have been out of the i760 info loop since I picked up a pn820. The only thing on the site are pictures at the moment. I'm not asking everyone to do the work, but this is a community and I'm hoping we can all pitch in

When I got my i730 about two months after its release, I found everything I needed in the FAQ's mrailing worked so hard on. If you havent yet, you should check out the i730 section here and see. I still use it and I have no doubt that when this device is released, if mrailing is using it, this forum will be just as good as the 730 forum.
I don't think they hear that revolt way up in that "Ivory Tower" in lower Manhattan. The only thing they hear are subscribers leaving in droves (and I don't see that happening.)
Now if some politician somewhere gets annoyed enough by it to push through some improved "open device" laws, then we might have a chance at change. I wonder if there are grounds for a class-action suit based on anti-competetive practices?
Unlikely. They have really good lobbyists. Money talks. Sucks I know.

On the vzw web site, if you scroll over the Phones and Accessories tab then over the PDA and Smartphone tab, it shows the little picture of a Q, HTC 6700, and the i730. Well, over on the test site, testman.verizonwireless.com, that picture has been changed to a Q, 700wx, and PN-820. It's just more (minor but still) good news that they are moving out the old and bringing in the new.
And has anybody noticed on the test site that there is a rather nice buy one Samsung u740 get one u740 free sale going on for the next 8 days? I know it could be nothing at all, but why would verizon be trying to get rid of their relatively new qwerty texting phone only months after release? That is, unless there is something better coming out when the sale ends on the 15th of May. Just a thought.

I will definitely go check out the 730 forum. I guess my goal with the wiki is to have something like the FAQ threads without MRailing having to do all of the work. It wouldn't be that the wiki would take away from the forum, but it would complement the forum. So there could be a sticky linking to the wiki, instead of having one long FAQ thread. And instead of MRailing having to do all of the edits, it would be a community effort. What do you guys think? I already have a PM in to mrailing to get his take on it. If he doesn't like the idea, I'll abandon the project. I am just trying to be helpful

I have actually used it once or twice. but, That's because no-one has / owns the PN820 and any suggestions are beter then none as there is not much activitity in the PDAPhoneHome forum for that phone. The I760 i think is a much different story.
Promoting sites outside of PDAPhoneHome.com and pulling people away from a forum is in violation of the house rules. I get what you are trying to do with the Wiki, and Convergent (the site owner) has been working on new ideas for the FAQ, including a PDAPhoneHome wiki of our own, which we have been testing.
Even though you don't want to be competing with us, it would be, and pulling the information from our site, especially when the users here create the information. I will respond to you soon via PM, but the moderators and site admins are currently discussing this.
So give us a bit to discuss and we will chat with you about it...

Like I said already, I have no intention of taking traffic away from this site. I was only trying to help. Which is more than the majority of people do on most forums, including this one I would assume. People are leeches, and I figured for once I could give back. If MRailing wants me to give up on it, then I will.

I was thinking along the same lines. Especially when I explicitly stated that I wasn't trying to take away from the site. And that it's up to the mods, I wasn't trying to do anything behind everybody's backs. And dangerous the pn820 wiki was requested by the users. I was just helping out. I didn't see you jumping on paying for a domain name and hosting, but come to think of it you were quick to criticize anything you didn't like.
First, i understand how the site works with money. I joined this forum a couple years ago (back when Eleazar was in diapers) because it was (and still is) very Useful and had (and still has) a lot of knowledgeable people here. for the little boy Eleazar trying to make me look like the bad here, well, I will be getting an I760 the day it's released. I will be willing to bet that eleazar will only be wishing he could afford one. hey, He started with a PN820, maybe oneday he will graduate to a PDAphone. but right now he doesn't even have a Sammy. Maybe eleazar should buy the $99 special on the I730, naa.. Just Hi-Jack a Forum, that's what he should [try and] do.

Come on guys there's no reason to start taking shots at people. I don't think eleazar was trying to "hi-jack" anything. He had an idea and wanted to get our take and talk to MR about it. Is there anything wrong with having an idea??? He said up front what he was thinking and then started checking with people. What's the matter with that??? I personally think MR and the rest of us do fine without a wiki but I think it's a good resource to have. Granted with the people we have in i730 forum (and i'll guess the i760) we don't need any other resources but this group of people and MR are very very rare.
