If they add it, they'll exclude it out. Or just do what I see on the rest of their decent phones, "Buy this phone and get up to 3 SCH-a870s for FREE!"
We'll just have to see with rumors of sprint dropping the Palm 755 and ppc 6800, maybe they'' be inspired to steal some thunder? I dunno. I'm just excited finally pick up a windows mobile phone.

On one of the threads they said that Verizon might be waiting to run out of stock on the i730's.
Well good news, they are showing as out of stock on the website today.
Could we be on target for a May 14th release like some of the rumors have speculated? I can hope.
Remember that the bb 8830 is launching May 14 (according to Gizmodo and other sources). Do folks think VZW wants to make May 14 some kind of uber-smartphone release day, or will VZW release them on different days?

I know some one at veizon and they have no info on the i760. They new about the 8830 about 3 weeks ago. I can only hope that you are right and it will be soon!!!

If they work at a store, they won't know about it. Verizon corporate doesn't pass along much information to stores about new devices, they keep it pretty secret because the people at the stores have big mouths and leak information too easily. They will have to be involved some how to find out about it, or have contact with the Friendly User Testing group.
"Ethan" hasn't called me back in about a week now. So no recent updates.

Most phone reps don't know squat AFTER the phone is released. So why are you suprised they don't know anything beforehand.
This will be my first smart phone. I'm a .Net developer by trade. I can't wait to start developing apps for my phone. I haven't been that excited to write things for the wm6 emulator. I need the toy in my hands before i get motivated.
On a related note, anyone know of a Bluetooth heart monitor? I want to write an app to track my workouts. Only one i can find is medical grade. Pls msg me if you have a link or something.

Please try to develop using the native version of .NET (assuming there is one).
The latest versions are serious bloatware that take a lot of memory space.
The "latest versions" are not anymore bloatware than the bundled version. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't take up room.
That said, there's a reason why you see people using the latest versions - 1.1 (the bundled version) was immature and microsoft brought a lot of improvements with 2.0 and there are a lot of improvements that are supposed to come out with 3.0.
I've seen way too many people complaining about having to install the .net framework. The fact is, .NET enables people like myself to write programs so much faster than any other way. If I were charging money for the software I write, that might be a different story. But there are a lot of people who write a lot of good free software, and they wouldn't have the time or will to write it any other way.
I have to imagine that going to a secondary memory source will always be a performanace hit of some kind, but if you app is running from that same memory source, I doubt it'll be that noticable. plus, it's not like I'll be writing too many number crunching/time intensive applications anyways.
I just wish the phone would be released so I can stop dreaming and start doing.
I've heard so many rumors on the price too, so I'm still trying to determine just how much I'm willing to spend on it. I really wish these kinda details would hit the streets at the very least... Waiting sucks, but not knowing when I have to wait till is worse.

That's the fun in all of it, the rumor and discussing. It will most likely be priced about as much as the Treo and HTC devices, so it can be competitive. So I would expect under $500 with a 2 year agreement.
Also if you want to start developing apps, you can download the Windows Mobile SDK from Microsoft which includes a WM6 emulator, so you can start at least playing around with development.

I have both SDKs downloaded, one for standard and one for professional. Just in case I don't grab the i760.
I am not a good 'waiter'. I've had my mm5600 or what ever it was called from sprint. I've had it with their service... the moto q looked like a good option, but read some reviews and decided to leave sprint all together.
I am excited for launch and hoping the following three things:
1. Tethering is not disabled
2. Reminders are fixed under WM6
3. Phonealarm is not necessary and WM6 actually can handle recurring alarms, etc
4. WM5 apps like Slingplayer will work under WM6

1. Don't know, but from what I have read it might be removed and we might need to use something like PDANet in the future, instead of tethering directly with the device, as they might have removed DUN from the phone, and just left in ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). There was a discussion about this on one of the Microsoft Blogs, and if I can find it again, I will report back on it.
2. Have no idea...
3. I don't think they improved any interface to give us better notifications, so in the foreseeable future, we might still need PhoneAlarm.
4. It seems that a lot of them will still work, and there is already a few hacks surfacing to make SlingPlayer work on WM6, but from what I have read, Sling Media is already working on a WM6 patch.

Below is the MSFT blog (covering ICS/DUN) to which mrailing refers.
Ironically, the "money shot" in this piece has nothing to do with tethering per se. It's the blog's reference to "future AKUs" (i.e., Adaptation Kit Updates, or "point releases" of WM6.x) that signals a new era of controversy.
Let's review:
Close observers of the WM6 feature set are aware that it provides, for the first time, a "Windows Update" tool.
Now, Martha Stewart would surely approve: "It's a good thing," she would say. And of course, she'd be right.
But there's a catch.
What isn't known is whether use of this facility to download O/S patches and enhancements will be subject to carrier approval for each new offering. And this is where the rubber meets the road.
One can envision the following scenario: "The People's Republic of Verizon Wireless has determined that Microsoft's WM6 AKU2 presents a potential threat to our network's income statement and thus--as provided by your ToS--we are unable to permit this download (or acccess to this feature) on Verizon Wireless PDA devices. We apologize for any inconvenience. Have a nice day."
If VZW were to take that stand, it would only push the user community to revolt even louder. I think this would make the change to an open device law come even faster. I am refering to allowing users to buy devices directly from the manufactuers.

I don't think they hear that revolt way up in that "Ivory Tower" in lower Manhattan. The only thing they hear are subscribers leaving in droves (and I don't see that happening.)
Now if some politician somewhere gets annoyed enough by it to push through some improved "open device" laws, then we might have a chance at change. I wonder if there are grounds for a class-action suit based on anti-competetive practices?
I can't wait to get this phone, but unfortunately, I (and many of you, I'm sure) don't have time to read through all 54 pages of this thread (not to mention other threads on other forums). So, I created www.i760wiki.com. I realize this could be confused with the other i760 (SGH I believe), but I didn't want to be bothered with typing schi760wiki . Right now it is pretty bare. I just set it up tonight, and my purpose in setting it up is to have a central database of all i760 info. So for now it would be a perfect reference to store all of the current pre-release info we have. Once the i760 is released we can use it as a database for all the current information/hacks for the phone. I currently host a wiki for the PN-820 (www.pn820wiki.com) because I have that phone and we desperately needed a central place for all info (rather than saying "go read page 52 of some thread"). I can't wait till the i760 is released so I can switch from the pn820. Anyways, I think that is enough background info
I'm hoping some people will be able help load the wiki with the most recent info. I will add what I can, but I have been out of the i760 info loop since I picked up a pn820. The only thing on the site are pictures at the moment. I'm not asking everyone to do the work, but this is a community and I'm hoping we can all pitch in
