I am willing to bet that was NOT an i760 you saw. One, he wouldn't have got it from his "cousin". The only people that would have it on Verizon would be internal Verizon people, and they keep track of their testing modules, and sign a non-disclosure agreement, and generally don't show it off.
Next group that has it are FUT (friendly user testing) people. They generally won't pass it on to their cousins either since they are testing the device for feedback to Verizon, and that testing is done right before the launch of the device, and we would probably have some more information about the phone.
I am willing to bet he called it an i760, when in fact it was another device. Mistaken identity. The i760 is drastically different from the i730 in looks and feel from all of the photos we have already seen. It would not come close to the i730, and you would tell if it was different. Look at the photos linked to at Giz, and you will see.

The Q and the Blackjack are two different phones from two different manufacturers. A more apt analogy would be the GSM Treo vs. the CDMA, which look virtually identical. I think if they were going to change the form factor, they wouldn't use the same name.
Snap! I totally thought the BJ was from Moto! My bad.....
More evidence that the screenshot in the first posting of this thread is legitimate: engadgetmobile just revealed some Verizon marketing documentation that suggets the AirCard 595 is about to be revealed. I believe the screenshot in this thread said that the 595 would be released this week. This somewhat substantiates the information on that screenshot. Let's hope it follows that the i760 will be released in early February.
If history is an indicator, it will be announced at CES in January, then released to the public in July, hardware crippled, without the camera(s), running WM 5 and not Photon. I can't wait.

You're such a pessimist, jpurv! Unfortunately, an accurate pessimist!
This will be my next phone provided Verizon releases it. Quote me on that one, unless of course something better comes along....

Well seeing that Verizon is sticking to their schedule that was posted, it would seem that the i760 might be coming. I have been calling my buddy ("Ethan" nicknamed here), and he won't pass along any information, but a "maybe". He's not working with the phone side of VZW any longer, and is in a more "management" role, so he's not always told, but I have a feeling he knows something. I will continue to call him on a weekly basis to ask though...
I of course am happy with my Samsung i730, and it's been a great device, dropped it a few times and it's held up, so the build quality is there, and I am more impressed with the build quality on Samsung devices than the HTC (6700, 6600). To me those things felt cheap.
I think I will be passing on the 6800 unless nothing arrives, or zero confirmations come about the i760. So here's to hoping the i760 does come to Verizon...

Just saw that micro SD's now come in 2 gig versions, so if this comes out, you can count me in as well. Heck, by the time this comes out, 4 gigs will probably be available.
I did......however, If it only has marginal new features I will not change.
Me too, but only if the i760 released by VZW actually has a camera. Otherwise, I don't think I'll have much motivation to change devices, especially when the i760 uses microSD cards.

me too...er three, Though it is an upgrade to the i730... I don't think that it makes it a compelling enough reason to upgrade... unfortunately even a camera wouldn't make a difference.. I go to just enough places where I can't have a camera phone.

Luck is where opportunity meets preparation.
There are two things that make this a compelling upgrade for me even without a camera (BUT VERIZON: PLEASE KEEP THE CAMERA):
-first, it looks like it has no antenna stub - YES!
-second, it is a third thinner and somewhat lighter
Both of these will make the phone much more 'pocketable'
Besides, I would hope that Samsung and Verizon would figure out how to fix the speed issues with the cpu. One of the nicest (for me) aspects of the i730 running wm2003 was the autoadjusting that the cpu did based on load needs. I would rather it be automatica than have to run extra software (which leads to extra conflicts, bugs, etc.)
Although I would definitely be happy if the i760 for Verizon (hence CDMA) did not have an antenna, I somewhat doubt this will be the case.
The pictures of the only i760 we've seen so far are those of a GSM version.
Look at other devices that "lost" their antenna: the Treo 680 & 750 (both GSM only) whereas all 700's (CDMA) still have one, HTC Wizard/Apache (Cingular 8125 has no antenna, whereas the PPC/XV6700 still does), etc.
Therefore I have a feeling that the CDMA version of the i760, if it ever comes out, will have an antenna again.
As for other features, I think it should definitely include EV-DO Rev. A to make a worthwhile upgrade from the i730.
The i700 only had 1xRTT, then the i730/830 came out with EV-DO Rev. 0, so one would hope the i760 would feature EV-DO Rev. A - especially if its GSM/WCDMA equivalent is already HSDPA-capable.

I am sorry to say, you are right on all counts, I saw the 830 at Frys this weekend and that is pda model he called the i760. Sorry for the false hope. I just did not carry with me solid enough memories of i760 photos.
Well, all the more reason to believe the marketing schedule at the beginning of this thread is legitimate. Engadgetmobile has pics of the UT Starcom 6800 (HTC TyTn) and gives the impression that the release will be soon. You'll notice the release schedule at the top of this thread indicates that the "Titan" will be released on January 15th. I think we should be hopeful about a February release of the i760. Ryan Block also indicated that Engadgetmobile will have more informatio about the Libra later today. The schedule in this thread says the Libra will be released for Verizon on 1/8.
