"That Mr. Anderson is the sound of inevitability..." Yes the i760 is on its way.. This thread is about to be closed and I thought I would squeeze one more post into it... This thread has been a milestone in many ways, so lets recap its importance! I know its off topic... but what about this thread IS on topic these days... Still I continue to come back and read it, like I've been sucked into a bad suspense novel... I know how its going to end.. but after this long I want to see its final entry!
Originally I was going to try a synopsize the events of the thread from KBAM's initial post and each time a perceived release date dashed our hopes and dreams... but you can just read the whole thread for that, if you have a few days to spare.. So here are some milestones that I've noted along the way to recap:
-This thread has taken the throne as the longest thread on the site, taking the crown from the release and rumor thread of the Kyo7135
-To my recollection I can't recall a phone that has taken this long to get to market after its existence is discovered (I may be corrected on that one)
-Equus, in a fit of beta tester frustration, defects Vzw and gets (aagh) an iphone -I never thought I would see the day
-I believe the mods set a PDAPhone.com record for the number of times they had to say "Stay on Topic.."
-iProb8 finally had his birthday
-Dangerous may have gotten a phone he can't break
-Our mole "Ethan" is born
-A grass roots movement forms to buy the first devices for MRailing and SuperDave for early hacking! I've never seen that happen on a forum. Amazingly even one of the "40" wouldn't give up thier gizmo for them! It must be good!
-Tange1 cuts his moderator teeth on trying reign in the rumor thread topics...MRailing gets promoted to Uber-Mod
-SKU-you: A lucky few figure out how to get the VZW machine to ship out a batch of i760's...I sure a few Vzw Corporate heads rolled for that one... the lucky ones will always be refereed to as the "40"
-This thread gets so long that it causes PDAphone.com to buy a new Server!
Thanks to Pastor Tim for all the fine photoshops along they way...Did I miss something.. I'm sure I did. Have a good day all and enjoy those you new i760!
Mark
Pretty accurate except 'Ethan' was around in the i730 days and perhaps earlier (a question best asked of Mrailing).

did you see any way to get the ADD online? just wanted to confirm if that was available or not, because there still seems to be some conflicting opinions on that
ADD is definitely applied when ordering online and choosing unlimited data plan at $45
Here is a screen shot of my attempt to Upgrade my 700wx to a Q9m.
In this shot, you can see that the ADD discount is listed as being $100.00.
In order to get this discount online, you must log into your account online and purchase the phone as either an upgrade or a new phone.
The NE2 is in there as well but is not split out in the line items anywhere.
The breakdown is:
2 year price $349.99
Minus NE2 = $249.99
Minus ADD = $149.99
Total is $149.99 plus tax.
Hope this clears it up for any of you who have questioned the ADD and NE2.
Thanks Ronmac. I got the same results, but was just a little confused by the discount. It appeared to be just an online discount (not a NE2 discount). Anyway, FYI, I read somewhere that if you put in your online order b4 noon, you can get free next day delivery. Don't know if that helps anyone else, but it doesn't hurt to look into, instead of paying $15, unless the $15 is strictly for Saturday shipping.

You're right... I Stand corrected. We started calling him 'Ethan' during the i730 WM5 upgrade crusade... not the i760 release crusade... Its been a long crusade and I got my crusades mixed up there for a second...

Something tells me everyone here is gonna order b4 noon with or without free next day delivery!?!
Well i just ordered It from Verizon directly.. the guy was REAL nice, hooked me up
$399 for the i760 -$150 rebate
$249 for the phone
...
Pardon me, but "$150 rebate"? Where on earth did you find that? I've not read of anyone mentioning anything other than a $50 MIR since this all started (well, except for the poorly photoshopped PDF from some weeks ago)?
DAIR,
Having a RevA datacard I totally see where you are coming from with saying get a PDA with RevA. I've heard good things about the Tilt, however, we had a chance to test a 6800 for 30 days, and the thing was so slow and sluggish that I'm not sure it could handle RevA speeds.
Maybe there was something wrong with that device, but even though the thing had 64MB of memory, even after a hard reset it would only show 47MB total and only 25-28 available. The first 4 hours of me using I had to soft reset as it got below 10MB. It was very Treo 700W'ish.
But yeah, the Tilt has gobs of RAM, so I'm sure it flies.

ya'll know i got the tilt. and if EVDO Rev. A is anything like HSDPA you WILL want it. in ordinary web browsing, i've seen some speed improvements. but it shines for downloads. this HSDPA downloaded a 137 MB file in minutes. i didn't time it because i wasn't thinking about it at the time, but it was blazing.
that's no big deal if you don't do a lot of downloading on your phone as i do. but the same is true for streaming TV, internet radio, sirius, etc. when that little H pops up on the screen there is no such thing as buffering. it just doesn't happen. if EVDO Rev. A is the same, and i don't know if it is, people have seriously been downplaying it in this thread.

First off, i called Vzw customer service at (800) 922-0204, gave them my mobile number and business tax id # for verification.
Now i found out i have beeen "Month to Month" and my contract expired in July of 2005.
So for a new 2 year deal he told me:
Phone is $399
then there is a $150 Rebate for the 2 year deal w/ unlimited data plan.
So its $249.
I got the Bluetooth/Bluetooth Case/Leather Case/Charger set for $69
Total of $354.96 - Overnighted.
That is what i was told right from the Verizon Rep.
So I am waiting now on the Fax form for business veriufication, and as long as i get it back to them by 5pm, I will have the i760 Tommorow.
