On a positive note one rep did say (not sure if it was a hint or a guess) but said to keep an eye out and keep checking and that usually stuff comes out with more than 1 device. So maybe they are releasing i760,6800,5800 at the same time? Or maybe it was just their guess? And will Speed racer be road kill? Tune in next week for the conclusion!!
It seems to me that if the release is rolling out west to east, it's possible the eastern areas will be unable to "see" the phone in the system until its released in that region - especially given the "early" release of the first 40 or so. This could at least partially explain the inconsistent release dates which are otherwise relatively close (10/4, 106, 10/1.
Unfortunately, I live in PA and my b2b rep tried all day to get me a phone 2 weeks ago before Verizon closed that door and couldn't do it, when the West coast could.
It's incredibly frustrating hearing others are ordering the phone and my rep can't tell me anything. (She actually stopped returning my calls last week).
called 611, they verified it has been release on the West Coast.
I didn't push the issue with the 611 V-rep, but if you are too impatient to wait until the release in your town, you may be able to switch your account to a CA location, keep your number and then order the phone likedly split.
Myself, I'm going to wait...I think it'll be here in the next day or two and it'll be simple to just call and order.
FYI, just in case anyone else is interested, it's really easy to set yourself up with a B2B rep if you're a business owner. Just call the 611 # and ask them about it....took me about 5 min. on the phone and now we'll get a nice discount on all plans, phones, & accessories.
I live on the West Coast (SoCal) and I have been given the same song and dance routine from Verizon by phone. It goes something like this, " Sorry sir, we do not have a release date and usually we are given at least a weeks notice". Also, as far as the stores go, when I ask about the i760, I am given a blank stare and told they have no idea what I am talking about. I have yet to see a dummy phone in any of the several Verizon stores I have visted! Why do I torture myself!

Ok, I have to call BS on this last bit of "rumor info" Like I said a second ago, I live on the West Coast and I have called 611 many times and even visted a store today with NO LUCK!

Going to have to agree with you. I called 4 different times today just to check and also talked with a B2B guy. And they all told me the same thing.... "we are releasing 4 new phones you can see them on the..." which is where i stop them and say.. No look I know what im looking for, and non of those are PDA phones. But about an hour story short.. they all said No and the B2B guy said its still in testing. Blah.. Good news is I found out I have B2B account access with only 3 lines. .... all about them Hacks and sploits. heh
I'm not usually one to add to the chaos of a release thread but why not..My friend was at a Circuit City in Hampton Roads Virginia and was given both the 6800 and the i760 mock ups to play with. If Circuit City is starting to get pre-release gear and show it off maybe there is some hope. I am going up there tomorrow to see if they have any other information
Later

Isnt it considered a monopoly when there is only one place that you can get a product from? And I know many will say no because you can go to ATT Sprint or god forbid T-Mobile. But the break down of each carrier is different in that VZW uses CDMA along with 1 other company.
But what im getting at is if you want a Cell phone to use you have to get it from Verizon. You should be able to pick up a phone for the actual distributer (Samsung in this case) and use it on VZW network.
Much the same way a computer works. You dont go to microsoft to buy a pc (keeping Apple out of mind here), you can go to HP,Dell, etc,etc to get a product you want that runs off their "network" of apps. I dont know just a rant here I guess.
Give me an i760 already Verizon.

I don't understand the hoopla...when has there ever been a "big guns blazing" campaign from VZW regarding a PDA phone? Never. I love this site for the information I can retrieve about tweaks, etc. But when the i700 or i730 was on my list of getting. It wasn't some coming soon or release date attached to it. It was simply go to the store and see what phones/PDAs have been released aka Dummy Displays or Go online....we are basically causing the uproar ourselves. Whose to blame?
Correction, I remember there was an email notifier about the i730 release. But that was hard to find if a CSR didn't tell you about it.
As far as the NE2. I got the i730 in July 2005 2 months after my contract was up. They are right on schedule.

Talked with my higher-up in Verizon today. Don't like to bug him too often, 'cause I would rather keep him as a contact than get this phone! Anyway, he confirmed that they are still looking at November for the release, and they are being VERY tight-lipped about the date. He's not sure why they are being that way, because he's one that's usually in the loop on that sort of thing. I didn't press him anymore, but thought I would share his insight.

May I direct you to the topic of this thread, "Samsung i760 - Release/Rumor Thread." Know what that means? We talk about rumors about the release of the phone. If you want tips and tricks for a phone, go to one of the forums for a phone you have. That's where those are. We enjoy speculating and debating, and blowing off steam toward Verizon. That's why we're here. Sorry to be so blunt, but that's kind of a silly statement in this thread.
My Corporate contact called me today. Same one that shared the internal e-mail regarding all of the release dates for pda phonescoming up. The i760 was to release on Friday 10/5, but Samsung is having issues supplying product to VZW. The numbers VZW has is very limited only a couple thousand, and they don't want to release the phone only to tell people it is backordered. They are hopiing Samsung can get the product in time to release the week of 10/22. The demo i760's for the B2B customers should be available for testing on 10/12. This delay is not VZW's fault. It is Samsung and them not being able to deliver enough product to meet the potential demand. If the i760 releases the week of 10/22, the xv6800 is due the last week of October or first week of November. May be latter with this latest i760 delay. 5800 is also due in November. There are no technical issues with the i760. It is simply a Samsung supply problem. I believe someone else also mentioned that a week ago. My source has confirmed that.
Someone on HOFO posted yesterday they were able to order the phone from their b2b rep in Fremont CA and would receive it in "a couple of days". Another poster from CA is claiming to have gotten their's in todays FedEx.
If Verizon is rolling out from West to East, maybe the October 4 -6 release date is accurate.
After all the frustration is todays threads, I hope it's not more bs.
I'm sure the people who ordered theirs actually did. and the person who got theirs today didn't order it overnight and ordered it 2nd day (or they would have had it yesterday).
The phone SKU is in the system, but the reps don't normally order by SKU, they do it by a "lookup" of available equipment.

Yes but i believe you need 5 or more lines to get any benefit (other than getting a phone earlier).
Thanks Sclevan, now we are going to hear this.. Since Samsung is the Hold up, and they are making new phones, are they going to put the REV. A chip in it? just kidding.
I did have a Scary thought on the way home while talking on my new phone. If they don't release it, then i won't be able to order any Accessories for it, as its a non existent phone. I then asked my rep, "they can't hold me to a NE2, for a phone that technically doesn't exist, can they?"
Hopefully, it will be release as Sclevan said (or sooner).
