Be careful. Your emotions are showing. Actually, I know a friend who was laid off after the company he worked for was bought by VZW many years ago. He says he has a friend who is the 4th cousin of the sister of a friend who is the uncle of Yankee fan who used to love the Red Sox and now likes hockey who sat next to VP of a big company and his two miniture schnauzers at a picnic a week after being transferred to a different group but who uses VZW phones when his batteries burn out in his at&t and Sprint phones. He said that the i760 would definately be released on ... Wait a minute. I forgot what he said. Never mind.

Hi xxxxxx

Thanks for your prompt shipment!

So I just send the old USB720 modem back to you? Any instructions on returning the old modem would help, thanks.

By the way, any news on the Sansung i760 pda phone?

You guys should start this HUGE complaint campain and send it to all the big phone forums how Verizon B2B Customers don't want to take it anymore see how Verizon handels that press ... I know you guys have been saying that your only a small % of the big picture for Verizon but neg. press is neg. press no? I rememeber having that Moto phone (first bluetooth phone) and those people all got involved (I joined and added my name) and Verizon due to all the bad press ended up giving us a few free months or something .. at least it's something
And Verizon would come back and say, but we did release new devices since the i730...

6700
three different Blackberrys
Treo 700W
Treo 700Wx
Motorola Q
Motorola Q9
PN820

All of those are business class "PDA Phones". All of those came out since the i730. They don't specifically say "We will provide you an upgrade path of your current device", they say something along the lines of "we will have something for you to use your New Every 2". I don't even think they call it "upgrading", they just say you can get a new device. So then that also includes all of the phones too.

I am not sticking up for Verizon, I want my i760 just as much as the rest of you, but the complaints coming because of the lack of release are just uncalled for, and unneeded. Sure Verizon really should be getting us an "upgrade", and they really should be giving us our i760 that we want, but they are a business, I do own stock in them, and their goal is performance by the numbers, and that is what they push, the stuff that makes them money. PDA phones, although growing, is just a drop in the bucket for them and the other devices they sell.

Everyone here is preaching to choir. We want the i760, we are all in the same boat (except for those lucky few that were able to order it already), and it doesn't do any good to say the stuff here, or threaten to leave here, cause my remark would be, there is the door, go ahead and leave and go to Sprint or AT&T. Personally I am sick of reading complaints and threats, it does no good here but to make us have to skim over them to look for good information, or discuss things that can help the device when the majority of us get it.

It will come out when Verizon wants to release it, no matter what we do, no matter how loud we scream, it simply won't come out any faster. The latest release date that was mentioned was Friday October 5. Sure I don't think it will drop then, but we should at least wait for that date. Verizon isn't telling many of their people about release dates, because of the leaks of those dates. Ethan knows when it got moved to, but he won't tell me, simple as that. He just isn't going to jeopardize his job to let us know anything. So if you don't want to wait, move on. If you do want to wait, we will continue to hear clues, and continue to lust after the i760.

Yep, it's frustrating. Honestly, I was quite hesitant to post the info that was passed down from our rep for fear of adding to the frustration. But I've been lurking for a while now, and thought I would pass along the one piece of useful info that I've gained. If it pans out or not.. who knows. I was just happy to finally get a response from the guy.

truthfully, there has not been one bit of "good" information in this or the previous thread from you, the saintly "Ethan" or anyone else. the only thing keeping people coming back to this thread is the entertainment value, i.e. the jokes, the opportunity to complain and the highs and lows of continuous letdowns....which i still argue all relate to the rumors/release of the i760 and should be allowed.

and as i always do, i'll tell you that Verizon promises much more with their NE2 program than you mention. if all they say is we promise that two years from now we'll have new phones that are substantially identical in specs and features (like the phones you listed), i don't think the program would have much value.

mrailing's downplaying aside, here's what they really say: Verizon Wireless

Eagerly waiting for the delayed i760

My southern California B2B rep, just called me to tell me that he was going into a meeting and that he had just heard that Verizon's engeneering group was holding up the phone and he did not expect the phone until end of the month or early next month now. He promised to call me with an update on the release after his meeting where he said he would be hearing more about it.

I will post what he says when he calls me later today.

I have waited like everyone else and I will still wait my every 2 has been up for like 4 months now because I'm waiting for "the best phone" verizon has to offer and I don't want to move on because I like Verizon all my friends have Verizon and to be honest I'm a supervisor at a major airport and our company phones are on sprint (nextel) most of my co-workers have AT&T (one just got an iphone) and I get a service throughout most of the airport where the others are always losing service so I will keep Verison I will keep waiting for the i760 (or some other model) I was even thinking about the LG X but why? Doesn't have wifi (just updated to wireless in my house for the i760) can't add programs (I might not end up adding any who knows) who knows how the internet will be and it looks thick (anyone even know who the size (w & l) adds up the i760?) and yes I know this is for rumors and I'm really not going that crazy just kind of upset and I know Verizon never came out and said when the phone will be out, so you could say that it isn't Verizon's fault, but they did buy the Samsung to be a Verizon phone and they have shown it on some of there adds had shown it (well maybe not Verizon) w/Verizon stamped all over it and lastly "lost" about 40 to customers so we know they have this holy grail of a phone so they all know we know they have this phone so why can't they just let the people know not to lose faith I would be happy for them just to say "look we just want this phone to be the best that it can be that's why we haven't released it yet" at least that would give most of us something... I don't understand the big secret? I mean when everyone found out about the west coast phone sku I'm sure they must have looked and saw that there call volume must have been HUGE so they must know that more than business people want this phone... I mean have we even polled this site to see how many people that have interest in this phone are even b2b bustomers? SO no more "this is a b2b phone they don't care about us" point blank this is a verizon phone..

i say you all start an organized campaign against this guy, Mike Lanman, VZW Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer.....and likely the one whose advice on which phones market the best is holding up the i760 for you folks.

i'll try to find his e-mail and send it along so he can be blitzed.

More chaff that I am not really sure means anything

Just got off the phone with my B2B rep and he said a couple of things that I thought would be of interest here.

1) Worst case scenario with my NE2, company discount, etc. I would pay $219 for the I760. Much better than what I paid for my I730, so now I am pumped.

2) He also said the phone was definitely going to be released in Q4 (ugh), that it was slated to be released already but got hung in "testing" again, and that his best guess was later this month or early next month.

On the second point, it seemed as though he may have forgotten that it was now the first week of October (hiccup in the dialog made me think he was trying to figure out what month it was). Perhaps it is going to be released this week?!?! Of course that could have been my renewed sense of optimism brought on by a low "opt in" price for the I760. I did not press this suspicion with him; he was helping me with another issue that had nothing to do with the I760.

A2DP, camera, slimmer profile, WM6, and dedicated number keys for $219 is definitely worth it to me. Looks like Verizon has kept at least one of their customers until the new "next best thing" comes along. Feel bad that I am thinking of sending my I730 to her rest; longest I have ever stayed with one phone (my wife calls it my "girlfriend").

PS Red Sox will win the World Series - hope we get to play the Wild Card Champion Yankees along the way

This may prove useful because his office will be forced to answer everyone who sends him an email. Marketing types like to say yes. After having to say, "I know nothing." a few dozen times, he may realize he cannot keep saying it because everyone will respond with things about the delay that he may not have considered - like business account users jumping ship in droves. I have to believe he would like to hear it. As in most companies, the higher up they are, the more filtered they are by their staffs who only deliver good news.

I'm currently resting my hat on October 19th.

My best friend works for VZW. She was going to try and order me an i-760 when that SKU business went down a few weeks ago, but she didn't want to lose her job and I didn't want her losing her job over a silly cell phone.

She heard from someone she believes that it would be available October 19th. She knows I've been waiting for this phone for a while. So much, that I may have convinced her to get one for herself. So, I don't think she would've told me unless she had a reasonable amount of trust in who she talked with.

I think we all have to just get a life....myself included. Before I joined this forum I had researched what was out there and boiled it down to either the i760 or XV6800. Then I searched around and found both this forum and also HOFO. Since then it's like I'm on crack.......get up in the morning and check the forum...is there any new news?.......maybe it'll be released tomorrow, next week.......gee, I hate Verizon.......etc. I'm trying to put this all in perspective now and sort of look at it like entertainment. I can be sure of one thing.......all of us (me included) will really complain like crazy if they release the phone with problems. I know there are those who received it early and have had good luck with it, but you never know what problems may be just around the corner. I guess what I'm saying is that we are working ourselves into a frenzy over this phone, and it's not getting us anywhere. Okay, I'll step down from my soapbox now.

I don't think there's any way the i760 is going to be released before Thanksgiving. The Voyager was just announced for mid November release. Given that the i760 hasn't been announced yet, I can only assume it won't be released until sometime after that. Given that it'll be too late for the Christmas season anyway, I expect mid Q1 next year.

I doubt the accidently shipped i760's have the final firmware. It's going to be interesting to see if Verizon will provide a way to download and install the final release. The more likely scenerio will be that you'll be required to return the phone and pay a fee to get it flashed to the final firmware release.

I keep seeing this both here and HoFo that it is held up for some sort of "testing".. I am continually perplexed by this for a couple of reasons.

First I don't understand what there is to "test". This phone is a vanilla WM6 device and there doesn't appear to be any customizations other than the boot splash and the banner on the home screen. Couple of 3rd party applications for voice dialing and Picsel, but that's it.

Second, what would be the outcome of such testing? They can't really change the hardware.. MAYBE it's firmware but we all know Verizon releases phones and then shortly thereafter you get a firmware update.

I've been using this phone for 2 weeks.. no signal problems, no EVDO problems, no application programs... really it works rather well. I think I had to reset it once but all WM devices need that from time to time.

I mean have we even polled this site to see how many people that have interest in this phone are even b2b bustomers? SO no more "this is a b2b phone they don't care about us" point blank this is a verizon phone..
Does anyone else have a headache after reading this stream of consciousness style? Jeez! About the only thing that would make this harder to read would be ALL CAPS... use paragraphs and more punctuation for heaven's sake!

Yes this is my first post but I want to start by saying that I have no inside information and have no idea when it will be released.

Like everyone else, I have been reading along here with anticipation that I'll be able to get my hands on this phone soon.

I originally bought a basic Nokia voice-only cell phone in January '06. Since then my needs have changed and I needed a PDA phone.

Early this year I tried to see if Verizon would let me upgrade to the i730 since they were being phased out. I was just over a year into my 2 year contract and they couldn't do anything for me.

So fine, i760 is coming out this summer/fall. That'll be the way to go for me.

Verizon changes their policy and my ne2 is up on September 30 instead of November 30 so the anticipation builds that this is all going to work out for me and I'm going to get the PDA phone that I want sooner than later.

I'm optimistic that we're still going to see this phone the first half of this month, but I have no inside information to base that off of.

From what I've read from the people that were able to order it early, it sounds like this phone is boxed up and ready to ship. I have to imagine that there's a warehouse full of i760 phones waiting to be sold.

I can't imagine Verizon either would send them all back for retooling or sit on that inventory for months.

With the 4 new phones launching in November? I would have to think that leaves us with a window here early in the month of October for some new phones to slip out. I have to hope the i760 is one of them.
