What a funny story this is. I spent a bunch of time working on this yesterday as well once I heard about the geographic limitations of the rep in the West. This was like the Cabbage Patch Doll (or Tickle Me Elmo if you're a bit younger) of pda phones :o)
I have to say -for all of the people that have been bashing Verizon and upset about the lack of good pda phones - PERHAPS this will get the message across about the power of us buyers.
My guess is that Verizon will take its usual stance and turn its nose up at the people beating down the door for this phone. They'll probably just get pissed and, unfortunately, someone may get fired. However, if they are smart, they will see how motivated this group of buyers are, how long we waited for this phone and how badly we want it. I hope Verizon learns a huge lesson from this and sees it as an opportunity.
I hope they see this as a positive and look to capitalize on it. Don't forget, most of us pay a high, fixed amount each month.
Let's get someone on national TV to tell the story!!!! Well, at least some of the PC mags, etc. Get the word out!
This was fun to be a part of though. Frustrating but fun. Now we wait.
Oh, and my prediction is that the phone will be out on Sept. 24th
In the meantime, hopefully all of our brothers and sisters that actually received the phone will post pics, answer questions and experiment and share!! Have pity on us
Jay

Question for anyone that's got one- tethering. It is critical for me to be able to tether as I do with my 730 via PDANet. Has anyone tried it? I know it will more than likely work but I'd love to know if anyone has actually tried to do it. Thanks.
I hope they see this as a positive and look to capitalize on it. Jay
I'm 100% VZ will capitolize on it...they will probably increase the price point and end up losing sales b/c it should be available for a few hundred less than some of the pda's available with more up to date tech.
I ended up calling 9 times yesterday to *611...with no luck. So, I called this morning. The very nice csr tells me: "Well, I see here that you called several times yesterday. They already told you it wasn't available. Nothing has changed since then. The phone has not yet been launched." When I asked her to check via the SKU, she said that wouldn't help.
Oh well, guess I gotta wait.
P.S. Didn't see Michael's post #5681...deep breath...relax until the 24th!
Hey! How do we know the whole thing wasn't a GIANT publicity stunt by Verizon to whip up a frenzy over the phone? The news about how everyone going crazy to get the phone is publicity that you can't buy and it's all over Brighthand, engadget, etc. Rather than a ho-hum release of a phone people are dissing because it's not the latest tech, took a long time to come out, all that is forgotten in the stampede that Verizon accidentally (?) started.
Is it everything we hoped it would be? Could you be our Beta? Tell us about the features and functions with hands-on experience. Would love to hear about the features/functions and any areas needing improvement or potential gotchas.

Yes, they still have to deal with competition. And lets hope that moderates them. "The network" is no longer much of a selling point for me. For example, if this is correct, the Kaiser aka Tilt will be even more tempting. More mem and built in real gps.
I love you guys. Way to crack the VZW steel curtain! Shows exactly why the quicker small mammals replaced the dinosaurs.
Now we need to tell VZW to FOAD! when it comes to not cooperating on the new spectrum auction for non-proprietary devices. Time to open up the airwaves to a free market for devices. Carriers should only provide a service, not the means to limit the performance of a device.

I was wondering if there is a hard (physical) button on the Samsung SCH-i760 that could be used to open the program of your choice... Something like the Voice2Go...
Ebay $1399.00, is this a Playstation 4 or a phone? or both?!?
So what was the actual retail price of this thing? I thought I read $399.00, but I'm not sure if that's accurate. That seems too cheap as the 6700 still retails for $500.
Also, maybe someone can help me with this.
If I can convince my girlfriend to use her NE2 and sign a contract to get the phone cheaper, can I then use the phone with my number and her keep what she has now with her number? It seems like that wouldn't be a problem, but you never know when it comes to Verizon.
How are all of you who ordered getting yours yesterday/today? I ordered mine about 5:30 PM on Thursday and thought I paid for overnight shipping. Apparently not because I won't get my phone until Monday! And Ontario, CA is only a 12 hour drive. I know it has to go to the FedEx sorting centers and what not, but still, you would think it would be here sooner...

Why would you call when there are 50 posts saying that vzw will not do it amymore. There was an internal e-mail sent out within vzw.
Honestly maybe I'm missing somthig but what where you expecting to happen?

tazburns, because Broadband Access Connect is available for the i760, the right thing to do is to pay the extra $15/month to VZW for tethering.
Can those that have the phone post some pics and any information (camera, any needed resets, stability, speed, ect.) about the phone that they feel we want to know (which is just about everything)?
I've been lurking for some time now, but it appears I'm one of the lucky few. I ordered my i760 yesterday at 9a MT. It arrived today at 11:30a. Purchase price was $399.99-$100(NE2)-$50(MIR) = $249.99.
Online activation failed, but activating via phone at (800) 922-0204 worked fine.
As a long-time PDAPhoneHome lurker and PDA user (Kyocera 6135, Samsung i700, Samsung i730, Audiovox xv6700), I'm looking forward to putting this through its paces. The timing is good as I was just about to give up on VZW and switch to ATT for either the iPhone or the tilt.
My initial impression is that it looks better than the online pics might indicate and has a nice weight and feel. The button positions are a little bit unusual, but should be fine once I get comfortable with the phone. The screen is very bright, though quite glossy.
One problem so far: the holster belt clip broke the moment I tried to put it on my belt. The plastic simply snapped. The holster is an add-on accessory, so I wouldn't knock the phone for this, though I wouldn't trust the stock holster with the phone now that I've seen it break.
