I was chatting with my local VZW guy this afternoon, and told him about folks managing to order the i760 (he hadn't heard anything... not too surprising since he works in a VZW store... but he thought the whole thing was hilarious).
Any way, he pointed out that there MAY be a problem when folks try to activate the phones. He showed me the VZW web site where the company posts phone activation codes and such, and there was no mention of the i760. So, in his words, "If someone walked in with an i760 right now, I couldn't activate it for them."
*228 will activate the phone.

man i love the internet. i know VZW execs were going batty in the past day or so. i just hope some lowly data entry clerk doesn't get suspended or reprimanded over this.
I posted release info a LONG time ago, but people didnt believe me.
I didnt want to give out the SKU for this exact reason. The lucky few who got it, good job. Lets stick it to the man.
If a 30 day exclusive for Moto Q9M is responsible for the delay until the 24th, I say boycott anything Motorola. Includes phones, BT headsets or anything else. Come to think of it--Moto doesn't have anything I would want anyway.
Sorry about the server load folks. I have been told by Convergent that the techs are working on it. The load jumped today, and that's why the busy messages are going on, and it's happening to me as well....
Sorry for doing this to you guys.
I just hope it doesnt get worse with the 6800 release and SKU
I am in Northern Indiana (South Bend, Elkhart area) and was able to order the phone last night via *611 after calling 6 times and getting different rep each time. I recieved my tracking number this morning and supposed to recieve the phone Tues. I can't wait. Everyone keep sticking it to Verizon!!
I guess I was a lucky one. I have a tracking number. Now, if it actually arrives, I promise to send Pics and data. I wonder how responsible this forum was on getting Verizon to acknowledge the release date?!
Has anyone else looked at the closeup on engadget.com? This is one UGLY phone, and with OLD tech as well. The anticipation and small thumbnail pics made this phone seem more impressive somehow. Anyway, enjoyed lurking in this thread. If they sell this old phone for $79.99 on a two-year, I'll consider it.
What I mean by screwing up the account is that if you had the rep renew your service, they might have "rebuilt/reprovisioned" the account already, and then cancel your phone, which might make getting a NE2 and other discounts not work right. Or you might not be able to activate the service because of an issue with the ESN.
If you do get a phone, and you can't activate, complain, especially since you bought it.
Hopefully those that said it's good to go, get it.
I will be one who waits until that last week in September. But what is really funny... Last time I went to Florida, I received my SCH-i730 the day before I left. If I order this one and overnight it, I will have it the day before I go to Florida....
And in Florida the last time I spent a LOT of time working on the FAQ... Guess I know what I will be doing in my downtime when in Florida, and not doing wedding stuff for my sis... Guess you all benefit...

Omie, wasn't your fault, I was told that someone was attacking the site today. We have had well over double the "users" on at the same time as today, and haven't had problems in the past....

First time poster, 6 month reader, and by six months, I mean 5 months and a day short because I lapsed on reading this post yesterday. So of course like many of you who did not get a chance to order your i760, I am just dissapointed.
Anyways, my 30 day trial for my phone ends on the 20th of September for my NE2 discount. Is there any way that I can talk someone in to extending it those 4 or 5 days until the 24th or 25th? Help would be greatly appreciated by a noob that jumped the gun on the release date. I have been wanting this phone since I saw it at CES 2007 in Las Vegas. Any advice on how to get around the 30 day policy?
Well, you might want to read what my VZW B2B rep says...
"They just sent a communication out to our whole company stating that the i760 is not available and not to order it. They have locked the sku now too it looks like. The main reason was because it was not available and the people who ordered it might get chargeback's since the correct pricing was not in the system. You were better off not ordering now actually. It might not have been a pleasant experience. The rumor is that it will be out on the 25th or so."
Interesting...good luck getting chargeback's against customers. I'm still pissed I didn't get the phone today!!!
Yeah, I interpret that to meant that the price might actually go down, too. I would have paid the extra $$ to get it early, though. However, I doubt VZW will give people who got the phone a credit, a la Apple!

I purchased the PN-820 about 30 days ago when my i730 bit the dust at the beach. I returned it a week or so ago and I was told that a note would be put in my account that I still qualify for the NE2.
I called Verizon quite a bit today looking for the i760 and all of them found the note and said that I would still be able to get the NE2 when the i760 was available.

Return the phone which trials ends the 20th and it will be like you never renewed your contract. On Sept. 24 go into the store and renew your contract. Really simple. Hope that helps.

Whats interesting is, my Work cannot connect, however home i can connect. Maybe they were taking my Constant f5's or Refreshes as an Attack.
Can any of you who have the phone indicate if you have to reboot it as frequently as one does with the i730?
I am 99% sure only Crafty has the phone as of yet.... Possibly others could have received it today, but I haven't seen any posts.

I spoke with B2B sales @ 8:30 AM EST and after they verified with DTS (data tech support) that my phone has malfunctioned dozens of times (700wx) and that they've replaced the unit 5x previously, they agreed that I could get an SCH-i760 6 weeks early before my NE2 date.
They started the process and said...we'll call you back.
At 2PM I called again and was frustrated...we'll call you back.
At 4PM I called again and was passed around and put on hold so many times I lost count. Finally the B2B customer service person gets a B2B salesperson on the phone who swears that he's been monitoring this issue all day and has not been able to order one for any of his waiting list clients (he said over 30) because the SKU doesn't exist. He took my number and said he'll call me back.
At 5PM I spoke with another B2B CSR person who also tried to make me their #1 priority today, and succeeded to go through the whole thing again, only to find out that "the SKU is invalid" supposedly.
I PM'd the person (I forget who) that had the rep that knew what to do yesterday...no reply there either.
I sent an email to the "Jeff" person mentioned in this thread, but got no reply either. I'm in his territory and I'm definitely a B2B customer.
I guess I'm not supposed to get this phone...I just want a WM phone that works...and the 6700 sucks, and the 700w and 700wx are diseased!
Perhaps I'll just have to be patient until the 24th huh? Or does anyone else know of a sure-fired way to actually get an SCH-i760?
I'm thinking that we who are not fortuneate as the Crafty one, will have to wait. I'm now hoping the 24th will be a "good" date.
Crafty, can i come play with yours?

You can buy the one up on ebay for $1400 BIN, that way you SHOULD have it by Tuesday.
Other then that there is NO way to have it ordered. VZW HQ sent all call centers an email stating that the phone was no longer available until "official" release. They pulled the SKU's from inventory so they are "out of stock".
