I think he's basing that off of the supposed 30-day exclusivity clause in VZW's contract with the new Moto Q - Rumor has it that VZW must wait 30 days after the new Moto Q release date before releasing any new PDA's. The new Moto Q was released at the end of August.

What does this mean about a release date??

Note that it has camera with flash.
Did anyone notice that the post over on Howard included a link to a pdf manual for the i760, which includes Verizon references?

I don't believe this was posted. If it was o well...

Pricing :O

From verizon b2b email response today. Got latest price sheet too and of course no mention.

"I do not even see the Samsung i760 on the......this is what I have on my internal website for businesses.

Samsung i760 (pending confirmed launch date)

part number is schi760zkv digital Pocket PC showing $449.99 less $100 instant credit = $349.99 for new lines of service or eligible renewal"

I wonder if 449.99 will stick. No date given

My b2b rep just took my order. Not sure how/why, but she just did. Maybe because it's in the system as I posted above? Shrug.

We've now got a rumor of "End of September" for the i760. The 6800 is rumored to be delayed again. Over on HoFo, someone posted that their rep just said "October or November". Has anyone heard any rumors for the 5800 (non-touchscreen)?

Omie, Have you or your sources heard/seen anything regarding pricing? Does that rumored $499 sound legitimate to you?

Thanks,

I don't know about the release date for that phone, but I did see this Sprint's Q4 lineup: Rumor, Centro, Touch, and Pearl 8130 - Engadget Mobile.

A WM6 Smartphone, a messaging phone, a WM6 pro phone and a BB. if anything other than the Palm Centro comes out before i760, Verizon will be caught with their pants down.

I hope you guys are right about the pricing as well. That would put the phone just above the Q9m so when I exchange it for the 760, I won't have to pay that much more for the difference.

I was just checking out the same story ronmac, I hope the pricing for the 760 is competitive, as I really like the phone however the competition is getting fierce. A year ago I never would have thought Verizon would be at the tail end of Pda releases in the CDMA world. Here's hoping to a confirmed pricepoint soon.

so in that case, Moto Q9m was released:
B2B and internet: August 22
and in stores: August 29

+ 30 days =

[SPECULATION]
B2B and internet: Friday, September 21
and in stores: Friday, September 28
[/SPECULATION]

does that make sense? we'll see if it actually happens. I have been waking up every morning and checking here. I am expecting it to just show up one day without any warning... who knows at this point, though!

PS: first time poster! have been lurking for a couple months now, I love this thread!

We have a demo VZW 6800 and I should, hopefully, have it my hands tomorrow. It's not what I want, of course, but it will give us a chance to see how WM6 interacts with exchange, as well as the native SD card encryption. We use Treo's now, but obviously would like to limit the # of WM5 devices we deploy. I don't know if this means it's comming out before the i760 or not.

I've had a VZW 6800 for weeks now testing with Exchange. I've been told it will release after the i760. I was told today that the release is "very soon". They are looking to get me an i760 to test as well. I hope to hear back tomorrow if they can get me the device. They are looking to have it shipped directly from Samsung. Don't know why, but that is what they told me.

So Crafty, care to share with us the best way in going about doing this, or did you merely post this as more of a flaunt? Maybe your rep knows how to get the rest of us thru the right method of ordering.

The 30 day exclusivity that Motorola has on some products over competing releases is TRUE. My brother is a QA with Verizon and he is very aware of the 30 day exclusivity arrangement.

FWIW

Had some time to kill this morning and was near a Verizon store in a New Orleans suburb, so I stopped in. It wasn't crowded and I sorta browsed around. One of the workers quickly asked if she could help me. I explained that my two year old PDA phone was getting flaky and I had read about a new Samsung that was supposed to be released soon. Didn't give a model number.
The guy behind the counter jumped in and said I must mean the i760.

They then volunteered that someone had been in to show it to them last week, but that they had not been given a release date and that usually happens about two weeks before release. They advised checking back in a month.

Just ask your corporate rep. That's all I did every week until something happend that let her put in an order last night. I assume it's a preorder, but we'll see. I honestly won't be suprised if it gets cancelled the way this **** has been going. Wife wanted the rzr2 so at least that'll show up for sure.

I just found out that my company has had the Kaiser for testing already and nothing for the i760. I'm bailing on Verizon i760 and going to AT&T Kaiser. The i760 may have the numeric keypad but the hardware doesn't compare and with AT&T I'll get to upgrade every 11 months. I'm sure someone will put a numeric keypad on a GSM PDA phone by then while Verizon customers will be stuck for at least 22 months with this crap.

Welcome

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum and was wondering when the device would come out. Everyone keeps saying another date and now I do not know what to think. Would assuming the end of September be a safe bet?

Also since this will be my first PDA phone I have a question. Once I get the device how can I use it as a modem for my computer without paying the per month fee? Everyone keeps saying there are apps for this but I cannot find any! Can you please name a couple of choices I might have for the Samsung SCH-i760. I would, of course, prefer that they be free but if you have to pay for them that is fine to.

So my questions about the SCH-i760 are:
1. When will it come out? Will it be the end of September?
2. What programs are there for connecting my SCH-i760 without paying per month? Are any of them free?

Thanks,

SCHi760
