well, the 10th has come - no product on the web site, nor by phone - so i assume that this was another date that was ballparked. I think from reading the latest several of pages of posts, there are a number of frustrated people out there. as an owner of a 6600 with a cracked display, i figure i'm going to give it two more weeks - i have to go out of the country this saturday, so having pda functionality will not be much of a drawback; that said - once i return, i'll go to verizon and get what ever is available at that time. With the 30day satisfaction guarantee, that gives me till 10/2X for Verizon to get something released. Which seems realistic, but then again, who knows?

Then is said it is not there, at which time I told him that it was to be released in Sept (didn't tell him anything else). I told him that the Samsung web site had it up and others had it say that it was going to be released in Sept and that another site has mentioned Sept 10,2007. And since that was tomorrow I wanted to call to make sure that it was going to be released then. He asked to put me on hold to check for more information and I of course said yes, all the while thinking here we go and telling me that he could not find any info on it at all. However to my surprise he said that is was going to be released tomorrow and that I could call back then to order it. He was going to order it for me but he didn't have any way of doing it because it hadn't been released yet. So there you go, if he is right then the i760 phone will be released tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.
Did you order yours yet?.....

I just got off the phone with the VZW salespeople. I told them that I had heard the I760 was to be released today and I would like to order it. She looked through her library of website information and said she could not find it anywhere and she had never heard of it. Then she contacted a data support person who after 20 minutes on hold came back saying they found it on the Samsung website with the VZW logo but they do not know anything about it. It was not listed in their coming soon list or anything. Once again, an example of the hidden secrets in VZW. They must be hiding Bin Laden too.

We'll still be waiting

And when the SCH-i760 comes out, we'll still be waiting for a powerful, next-generation, Windows Mobile PPC platform. There's nothing really groundbreaking there. Same amount of memory, same amount of flash, same tiny QVGA screen, merely a 1.3Mpixel camera, horizontal sliders have been around for ages (and I don't care much for them because WM wastes so much screen space in landscape mode). Face it, the only thing we're really getting excited about is a numeric keypad and hoping that WM6 won't crash as often as WM5.

Must of the torture is self-inflicted. We look at the information that is available, all of which is speculation and maybes, and we believe it is absolute fact. The only fact is, until VZW announces a date, there is no date. Ethan, et. al. keep telling us that when they suggest timeframes, but we only hear what we want to hear. Therefore, the torture is self-inflicted.

As of this moment, we know nothing for sure. Everything we are told is either a VZW representative keeping us at bay or telling us what the current plan is at the time. By the time the plan is shared, it could have changed – it is only a plan, after all.

If we cannot stand this self-inflicted torture, either stop believing everything we read that is listed in the last post, get a sense of patience, or go to at&t or Sprint and (surprise, surprise) find out there are very viable (and perhaps even better) alternatives to a company that cannot get competitive phones out the door in a reasonable timeframe.

I hate to be the one to say this but you do realize that the Kaiser was first written about back in Decemeber of last year with no release date or carrier mentioned. I do beleive that this phone has not yet been released. I also beleive the iPhone was rumored to be in the works for at least a year before it was announced.

My point is that all the carriers have phones that we would love to have had in our hands weeks after they are spied but the reality is that all the carriers are the same when it comes to this type of thing. They "Test" these products and make back door deals on exclusivity for release and in the long run, they all get released and we are happy until we see amother phone like the new Sharp that was written about on Engadget Mobile (Sharp's WS011SH Windows Mobile superphone in the wild - Engadget Mobile) and then we realize that the phone we just purchased 6 months ago is lacking in memory or speed or screen real estate.

I am getting married this coming weekend and was kind of hoping to have this phone as a gift to myself but if I have to wait til my birthday (January) to get it, I might be better off and will start the wait for the worlds first super smart phone/pda phone.

If we really need cutting edge tech, we should just pack up our families and move to Japan where they have been cutting edge for many years.

Burn away if you will but I just thought I would put my two cents out there since everyone else seems to.

May just go with the damn Treo/centro

Man I am so tired of waiting. I had a 730 which got ran over (really liked it too...) unless I can get it on eBay for 150 or less, I may just go with the Centro. I have 2 700ps at home. One 1 use for buisness (data/etc). The other I was just usin as a PDA phone. I currently have the Q (yuk) which I can't stand. I was looking for a Windows phone that wpuld replace the Treo but be the size of the 760.

I just called Verizon Buisness. They said sorry, we don't know what the release date of that model is going to be (yet). I think I may looking for a phone that has more features than I need anyway. I just need a PDA (addresses/schedule,etc) and a good quality phone that will last more than 24 hours on standby!

I have had the Kaiser now for over a week (amazing device, by the way). Last December they said it would be available for first ship in Q3 '07. I watched the forums religiously. It shipped in Europe the last week of August (Q3). The at&t branded version should be available within 2 weeks. Not too shabby. VZW has never said a word about the i760, but it is on the Samsung website - but it cannot be purchased. HTC did not list the Kaiser until it shipped. To compare VZW's business practices with anyone else's seems to be an exercise in futility (and belonging in a different thread).

Just talked w/ our Government Account Manager...

Just talked w/ our Government Account Manager at Verizon Wireless, she did not see the phone as being launched but said it could be a soft launch. She did say that there were traing materials for them on the phone and other items about the phone. The list price is $519 as of now and the information was last updated 8/28. She went on to say that if all the information is out there, then it has to be coming soon. She sent emails to a couple of people in the marketing department to see what else she can find out. As soon as she hears something, she said she will let me know.

For those of you calling today, I even mentioned in the last 30 some odd posts, that it WON'T be released today. Equus posted this as well. As of right now it's a LATE September release, which it has been for a while. Just because someone posts that's it's suppose to be released on Sept. 10, doesn't mean it is going to happen, especially when LONG time members are saying it isn't coming yet.

AGAIN, this thread ISN'T the place, I repeat, ISN'T the place to complain about Verizon, discuss the iPhone, or anything else off topic. It is NOT ok to post "Off topic discussion" and then list what you want to discuss. THIS THREAD IS FOR DISCUSSION OF THE SCH-i760 Release and Rumors. This means it should be nothing but the i760 and discussion about the device itself, or when it will be released.

There is a whole forum with MANY other threads that you can discuss the iPhone, complaining about Verizon, or discussing anything else you want. We have a LOT of new members showing up and I will again remind you to keep this on topic, or your posts CAN be deleted.

Anybody that knows anything about advertising or the printing business will tell you that that doesn't mean very much. Forms, etc have to be printed based on deadlines dictated from corporate schedules (which are usually dictated by the printing press' ability to handle demand.) And since those deadlines are constantly moving due to a number of variables it's no surprise they cover their rears by padding the forms to incorporate products that have yet to be released (since even their communications dept clearly didn't know exactly when it would launch at the time of the printing.)

At best, that rebate confirms that the launch is growing closer. I'm as eager as anyone and have been lurking on this thread for a couple months now, but I've yet to see anything to lead me to believe this will be anything more than a launch later this month. Without knowing anything about their manufacturer agreements, a release the magnitude of the Q9M (the successor to their best-selling smartphone from the previous gen) would seem to demand some sort of exclusivity agreement with no new smartphones launched for about a month. The fact that another Motorola successor to the best selling cell phone of all time (RAZR2) launched shortly thereafter would seem to reinforce that. A late Sept. launch still sounds most likely based on what I've seen.

Personally I think that the rebate form confirms that the launch was intended for the time period covered by the rebate in question. But we all know the saying about the road to hell........

Quick question if anyone remembers . . .

when did the Q9's come out? I think the assertion about the 30 day window post Motorola release holds the most merit at this point (note: I'm not saying it will be day 31 from that date) but it seems to make sense.

I keep dropping my 730 - which I haven't really done for the past 2 years until about 3 weeks ago - now I'm all butterfingers (must be subconscious) and I may need something to tide me over. I'm just trying to get my own guesstimate in case I need the 30 day return/exchange.

Thanks!

Jay

Note that it has camera with flash.

I believe it was August 29th when it came out which would make it about another 2 weeks if it were 30 days

Is this comment based on some credible "inside" information or just in the moment exhuberance. I seem to recall you mentioning that the i760 wouldn't release until the end of Sept just before you announced you would be internet-less while traveling and wishing us "luck" with the other sources citing Sept 10 as the release.
