In what countries can it be rented? It obviously could not pass engineering tests in the US, so I guess VZW and Vodaphone do not care if their products do not pass their tests in the other CDMA supported countries. Wait a minute! How many other CDMA supported countries does VZW/Vodaphone have CDMA networks? (LOL) I think this is another case of someone from VZW blowing smoke at us! ROTFL

Those were my thoughts exactly. I didn't know until I Googled (as a curiosity), but VZW does have a global rental program, and a list of countries with CDMA networks. I didn't spend a whole lot of time here, but under "Pricing" it lists equipment available for rent, and I didn't see the i760.
I clicked on the Shop Now button under the I760 but don't get the option to buy it.
I'm going to the VW store today with a printed copy of this and tell them I want to buy it the PDA phone in the center of the photo
Thanks,
Lenny
Now if I can tell you what happened without someone calling me "crazy" or "stupid".
I went to the local Verizon store in Largo, FL. and spoke with the store Manager who happened to be on the floor. I told him I wanted to buy that phone pointing at the I760. He asked what phone it was and I told him the samsung i760. he then took me to the Regional Data Sales Manager. I said the same thing.
She said that she hadn't seen the ad. She said she was told that the I760 will be available within 2 weeks via the Internet and in the stores 2 weeks after that.
For what its worth here is my story of the day. I have been into CC at least once a week for the last 2 months asking about the i760 and have been met every time with "I haven't even heard of it"
Well today I was in there on an unrelated matter and the saleman rushed across the staor and said to me "well, you were right, we heard this morning that we will have it by the end of the month hopefully".
I stopped by my local Verizon store tonight to return my PN-820. I thought I would give it a try since it was small, but I couldn't get by without a keyboard.
I asked the rep about the i760 and he said they have been getting in the accessories so he would expect the phone to arrive in the next couple of weeks.
Okay....I've been lurking in this forum all summer. I have sat on my hands and resisted posting - until now. I have an acquaintance who works for Samsung and designs/troubleshoots the phones. I saw the phone months ago, have played with one and have seen what it can do. I fell in love the phone immediately. A week later my acquaintance says that she/he has an i760 sitting at home waiting for Verizon to launch it. Once its launched she/he can hand it over to me. Verizon is the one holding up the release. Sammy has been done with the phone for months and in fact has moved on to a major redesigning of another one of their popular phones (which shall remain nameless).
The i760 is absolutely awesome and if it does half of what Sammy's vision is for it you will be very happy. Yes, it will be the first PDA phone I've ever had. But my friend has assured me that it will do everything I need it to do and eliminate carrying around my PDA, Cellphone and Laptop 90% of the time. I will occasionally have to carry my laptop to places when I go on trips and such. So as such I to have been anxiously awaiting the release along with everyone else here.
Well....today Verizon called me to "analyze" my calling plan to see if I'm "maximizing my plan possiblities" so that I'm getting the best deal for "my needs". So...I said well..I'm not interested in changing anything unless they have released the i760. Well...that sent her a scurrying through their database so she could get a sale. She was able to find info on it, but informed me that it was still pending release but she was able to dig up pricing info on it for me so I could "plan my purchase" better.
Retail Price: $519.00
With 2yr agreement: $399.00
With mail-in rebate: $349.00
NE2 drops it to: $249.00
Add the unlimited data plan bonus/rebate and the phone is mine for: $149.00
Now that is by adding it to my primary line. If your adding it to a secondary line the NE2 is only $49.
She is ready to call me the day before it's released to process my upgrade and anticipates being able to do that before the end of the month. After she looked at the specs on it (which she hadn't prior to calling me) she can't wait to get one for herself and can see why we are all so anxiously waiting.
I feel like the lady in that old Mervyn's commercial standing outside the store doors saying "open...open...open".
I'm thinking I could throw a Tailgate party in Houston at the Veizon Store(Post Oak @ San Felipe). PM me if you are in Houston and interested.
This may not work if it is released via Internet as everyone will buy it then rather than waitting. Still a good thought for some fun and networking. Maybe Veizon would be willing to donate table/chairs for us.....

This may have already been asked but I don't think I'm going to be able to go back through 265 pages to find the answer so forgive me for being dumb but....
What are the various discounts that eople are talking about?
The unlimited data speaks for itself, and I have that on my line. What about the NE2 and the other things that epople mention on here.

Thanks in advance
that's about it. NE2, ADD, any MIR offered at that time, and discounted pricing based on what kind of contract you sign up for. some people report getting "customer relations" discounts (i.e. they had a specific complaint, and their CSR cut them a special discount to keep them a happy customer) but obviously those are on a case by case basis
Hi all. first time poster here. ive been following this thread for a little while and do not remember (or maybe haven't even seen) - I believe the i760 has no ir port, but does have wireless syncing? if that is correct, does that mean that two people with i760s could exchange contacts, calendars, etc without using a pc to do so?? (asking because my wife has an older treo and i know that she can use the ir port to beam info back and forth.)
