Been following the development of this phone since february and this thread since early May.....
I was in VZ store on 35th st between 6th and 7th in NYC earlier & asked about i760... sales person tried to sell me different phone claiming I could return phone and get the one I want within 30 days - but couldn't guarantee that i760 will be out within 30 days, or at all. It was the same conversation I had at the same VZ store on about June 20th, when rumors were indicating a possible July release. I just don't get VZ's silence re this phone. Although we all know they haven't officially "announced" the phone yet, they are certainly aware of all the photos with their logo on it. They could save a lot of headache (and possibly some customers) by just telling us something. And you can bet that if it wasn't going to be on VZ network, they would certainly be denouncing it (and pointing out all its faults) and probably looking to sue somebody for using the logo.
I doubt that... the early shots from CES, etc., around that time were of unbranded units and sans battery (if memory serves). The branded photos didn't start showing up until months later. Of course, I'm old and forgetful, so I could well be wrong.

Actually, if you search Engadget for "Samsung i760" you'll see that pictures of the i760 WITH the Verizon logo were posted on January 20th, 2007. I know Verizon has never officially acknowledged this phone, but the photos with the Veizon logo almost 8 months ago is what's driving me crazy right now!!!! If you had told me on January 20th that this phone wouldn't be in my hands by September 6th, I'd tell you that you're crazy.
As per my previous post, there were more than just pictures of phones (dummy or not) with Verizon logos, there was co-branded marketing material also with Verizon logos that indicated this phone was to be released initially Q2 07. Come to think of it, if we really want to be picky, the first thing I saw that indicated that the i760 was to be a Verizon product appeared on 22 December '06: Verizon's Samsung i760 out-BlackJacks the BlackJack? True, the VZW logo wasn't on the unit, but there it is in the corner of the slide!
I'm still cleaning up after spewing coffee through my nose after reading Deathsenemy's blurb. [quote=Deathsenemy;655637]Ok, so some people in here cant take a joke like ProRef, wow, get a life dude and have that stick removed please.
It was a joke, hence the VZW iphone.
This forum is definitely a humurous read while I wait PATIENTLY for the 760 or 6800. I've been reading this thread for about a month now and I'm getting the impression from the many unrelated posts that this device will be a critical piece in the fight to cure cancer. It seems that it can't come out soon enough for you guys. My advice would be to keep it on topic and realize that you already have more phone than most of us have. So sit tight and shut your pie-holes unless you have a hard release date for us, or maybe some interesting technical tid-bit about the 760. Take the crybaby whining and bitching to the i760 humor thread. I myself am excited about the device and honestly want to know whether it's any better than the 6800. They both seem to have the same RAM - 64MB - which seems pitifully low considering that the latest devices are coming out with at least 128. I'll be hitting my local Verizon store on the way home tonight to see what the latest release date is. The midwest is usually the last to get anything but I'm hoping for the best. My NE2 kicks in on 9/20.
Alright guys, I got an email from my business rep today, and he said that the i760 will be out second week of October....I don't know how reliable he is but take it for what it's worth.
Well considering how long they have been working on "issues" if there is anything outstanding yet, it has to do with GIN or their own customizations. WM6 has been out long enough, and there are plenty of devices released some time ago, so I have no worries.
And with VZW you can be guaranteed if they sat on this thing for 5 years, it would still have issues out the door. Their testing BS is just that...
Well, I don't care about "issues". I just don't want any "problems"
On second thought--maybe "problems" would be better, because I never took a class in "issue-solving".
Back on topic. How does GPS location work on the i760? Can I use my own software and use the GPS where there is no phone service?
Or am I going to have to use VZNavigator-pay-thru-the-nose?
Or separate bluetooth GPS receiver & software?
That's assuming the rebate is in fact real. There's no proof of it being a genuine rebate form.
first of all, theres like 40 phones listen on the rebate form for the rebate promotional time, and yeah it exists because im a sales rep for a small retail store.
the phones are listed on the mail-in rebate form and you're supposed to check the phone that the customer bought inbetween the time frame (Sept4 - Oct.
And if the rebates good for that time that means the phone will come out in between that time.

i love my i730 & ive been researching the i760 for months noww.. & im excited for ittt
Hey everyone,
I've been reading the posts here since May
and have gotten a lot of info from you guys
especially since i want the i760 to be my first pda device
i called verizon today asking general questions about
data plans..and how i was interested in getting a pda..
but didn't like any of the ones that are out right now..
trying to see if i could get any info at all about the i760
this wont help any of us at all,
but i told the rep that i wasn't interested
in any of the pda/smartphones that vzw out now and that my
2 year contract ends this month...the rep just talked about how the
q9m just came out..i told her i wasn't really interested in it,
but asked if there were any other wm6 devices coming out soon
(hint hint, i760*)
...she told me that there were nothing in her system, and that she had no idea...and like everyone else, she mentioned she knew about the i760..
but had no idea as far as a release date or anything
::: an interesting thing she told me is that it's possible to get a data block if you have any of the America's Choice Select Plans
(___ minutes + unlimited messaging)
....she actually had to check with a supervisor about that
supposably, since the data block wouldn't allow getting picture/media messages, and the Select Plans have unlimited messaging, it wont work. the best choice for anyone wanting to get a data block, but still have unlimited messaging is to disable any software that will connect to the internet (using up data by connecting), and just use "pay as you go" 1/2 cent per kilobyte

can anyone also confirm this?
I got a data block by taking out the battery. I'll be terminating my contract when it expires the end of this month. Can you hear me now?

This was posted over at HoFo and is an email that some guy got that pictures the i760 with other phones but there is no other info about it listed. I'm not sure that it is legit but thought it was worth sharing
The best that you can do is to cancel your account tell VZW why and pay the penalty. aka vote with your feet.
i agree with this approach and checked Sprint and AT&T and couldn't find a better alternative to my vx6600 with a cracked screen. Seriously, the smartphones and blackberrys are awful.
I'm tired of Verizon and no new phones.
I may switch to AT&T. They have quite a few PDA phones to chose from.
I'd like to stay with Verizon but they are making it hard.
Hopefully they will do something real soon. With the Treo700 they announced the phone before the release. I don't see why they can't do that now with the i760 and say something like "Coming Soon."
The i760 better have a decent price. It's kind f hard to shell out more than $299 when an iPhone can be had for $299 or $349-399 for the 8 gig version .
